Really like the twitter post from Mings. Mistakes happen from all of our players.
The ruling is kinda like many situations for me.
If the ref deems it offside, it will be offside. If not, it will not be. Since the wording of the rule is how it is, VAR cannot interfere either ways because its not a clear error by the ref... To be fair, I dont think the ref is to blame, the rule is. Its just weird... Still think VAR needs a rehaul, but I understand why it happened the way it happened...

Totally correct. This is the key point in any transfer. A player is always worth what the selling club say he is. I find it hilarious when people don't get this. If we think it's an acceptable price then great, let's get him in. If not, then we'll look elsewhere. Our people know what they're doing.
This so much!

Its an error yes, but does seems to be a controversial rule which many players and pundits are unaware of
None the lese, lets not slag off one of our most important defenders in recent years. He was a key person in keeping city at bay for such a long time.

Best of luck Conor!

Perhaps it's clever as he will probably be guaranteed to play before the Euros
If Hourihane manages to play in the Euros I will be immensely impressed.

Genetics, wtf are you actually on about?
Perhaps Wesley is more predispositioned genetically than Watkins to be assaulted by Ben Mee?

No, they're constantly just making up crap! Just block them.
Not very experienced at Twitter, but all the posts from them are basically "insert rumour" "insert the tweeter who originally tweeted it". Seems repetetive, but works for people who needs a short summary? Just asking here, not experienced with neither Twitter nor Villareport

Assuming the link is even legitimate... my thoughts are below.
At the start of the season i was most concerned about our lack of depth at centre back. Hause has performed well enough that I no longer get a heart attack when thinking what happens if Mings or Konsa gets injured.
Up front, if Watkins gets injured, we have Traore who can play up top, and enough cover on the wings to fill the gap left by Traoré. Ideally we do need a better quality alternative to Watkins, but its not a critical need with the fact our goals come from across the pitch.
It is the central and defensive side of midfield where we have the most concern for me now. We don't have a viable alternative to McGinn, or Luiz if one of them gets injured. Nakamba/Hourihane/Ramsey having to play in either of their positions would result in a serious drop in quality and this signing addresses that concern.
With the number of midweek games we've got to catch up on, McGinn is going to need to be rested even if he's not injured so this is an absolute no brainer for me, assuming the cost is deemed to be on the right side of decent value.
If we are looking at the position we are weakest with regards to competition it has to be leftback (if we count Wesley to challenge Watkins in the future). If Targett gets injured, we would be hampered offensively... Taylor is a below adequate defensively, but nothing going forward.

Or alternatively, knowing us we could spank City, then lose to Newcastle and Burnley, in Vintage Villa fashion. lol

but you haven't seen him play! how do you know he doesn't go into our starting 11?!
Probably seen it on twitter as he did with Traore.

I'm not even saying that he is a bad player. But if he isn't good enough to go straight into our eleven i just don't see the point. It's just filler.
Just save the money and spend big in the summer.
For all we know he could go into our 11? At the moment we have literally no subs to put in that can change the game for the better. I assume he is deemed on the level of our current starting players, and if he is on that level we should get him (unless this makes it impossible to get better players due to financial reasons, however I trust in our management to avoid that).

Keep doing what we did in the summer. Purchase a caliber of player that goes straight into the eleven. That's how you improve. Don't waste money on filler.
So sign another Traore?

You only have to watch the games today, especially the big one.....how players close down and squeeze for most of the game, they don't give you a minutes peace.....pressing is a big part of this game at the top of the Prem and Conor is not well equipped for that.
100% agree with that Still believe in what I wrote Some teams play with less pressing, we do not!

If Hourihane wants to leave, I believe we should let him go for quite the low fee. He deserves that, and he has fallen down the pecking order to be behind Nakamba and Ramsey as well.
I like Hourihane, but he is not suited to how we have evolved into playing now. As others has said, I believe he would be good in Newcastle, Burnley or WBA, teams that play a style where he could thrive more.
Hope all Villa fans can see that he has contributed alot during his time, scored some great (and important!) goals for us, and if/when he leaves pay him the respect he deserves.

And lets remember Traore is useless as well!

I trust in our management, I never heard of this guy before. However, I believe Smith, Lange and whoever is in charge knows a bit more about him than me.
All in if we need him, could really use another god CM!

I’d like it if we were to form an alliance with Bodo/Glimt as they appear to have a good production line of talent. LB Fredrik André Björkan who has been linked with Leeds and DM Patrick Berg - good write up on him here
I like the positivity here, but believing a Norwegian team could bestable at anything over the amount of one year is a wishful dream I would hope one day could happen I loved their performance this season thou, pray they could do the same next year but players are departing now.
