  1. Works hard and at times makes great movement.

Wish he could link up his movement decisions more with Grealish so he opens more space for our skipper

Not so good on the ball in the last matches, but I have a feeling if he just gets some goals, it will come ALOT more

One thing I'd like to point out is that I'm not sure I've ever seen a player jump so high but win no headers at all. Almost every time he went up for a header last night he has almost a foot above his man yet some how ended up making no contact with the ball. Was weird to watch.

    Hahaha, this so much...

  3. Seems to lack confidence. Why on earth did he try to pass to Watkins when he has a clear line of shot? You could see Grealish was frustrated after that decision.

I believe he can be something, but hoped it would come sooner...

  4. I thought it was a great performance from him yesterday. He shows he has something that warrants a place in our squad.

He has learned to much from watching Trezeguets ability to finish, but he had alot of great involvements before the final execution. Did not expect that great of a performance.

Together with Grealish and Traore he should have scored atleast twice yesterday, but I think this was a positive surprise!

I would not mind seeing him start next one either.

I can't find any injury history of Ollie Watkins so the chances of him being out is fairly low.

Wesley had meningitis and an 11 day ligament injury in 2016 before Ben Mee assaulted him. Not much injuries there either.

Grealish only played central 5 or so games, the rest he played at LW

In the games Wesley played, Grealish played LW in following games (Burnley, Norwich, Brighton, City, Newcastle, United, Chelsea, Leicester, Sheffield, Southampton, Watford, and the pyrrhic victory over Burnley). I stand 57% corrected :) Thanks!

I will still stand behind my opinion of him being more isolated than Watkins is this season, and that is a contributes to differences in stats (still not claiming Wesley > Watkins, just that Wesley have potential and someone should stop writing him off and calling him thrash).

My point is that Watkins would do a lot better than him. Even last season.

He had Grealish, Targett and McGinn to link up with.

In a team where we played El Ghazi and Trezeguet on the wings.

Which meant to link up with Grealish and McGinn he had to drift towards central midfield to link up with them. You know what that results in? He being further away from the goal. Hence why Watkins averages 0.9 shots more each game than Wesley did. 2.6 vs 1.7 (I know you ignore stats unless they support your narrative).

Wesley was not great last season, but he showed potential. Way more potential than Trezeguet did, and look at Trez now.

A 5 minute compilitation video really is useless.

You could make Ross Mccormack and Scott Hogan look like decent players from those.

5 goals in 21 is atrocious. Watkins already has more goals and Watkins has now set the bar and what we should expect. Davis and Wesley either have to follow suit or be out the door.

That 5 minute compilation is based on 21 games, and clearly shows his hold up game is not bad.

He had 0 help. He was alone at top. Look at how our other players are flourishing now....

I.e he had a higher goals per minute than Callum Wilson who already put 6 this season, because he has a better team than last year...

Look at Salah, first season in PL he had 2 goals in 10 games. Is Salah still "atrocious"? Get over your own stubborness and hate for Wesley.

His hold up play isn't good

I am joining the people believing you are drunk. First I thought you were just talking out of your ass, but I doubt even that would amount to the shitfest you are throwing here...

Trezeguet works his socks off and never goes hiding. He almost single handedly kept us up.

Which is another bad trait of Wesley who very much seem to be a confidence player. Also i don't like his demeanour on the pitch. Falling to the ground after the slightest touch and crying to the ref. I can't stand it and it's embarrassing for a guy his size.

Also i still don't know what is his strength. He isn't quick. Not good in the air. Not a great passer of the ball. Not the greatest of finishers. I would love for someone to tell me what he actually excel at.

Are you trying to tell me Wesley did not work his socks off? His pressure and work ethic was one of his strongest attributes.

That is he is not good at heading I 100% agree on.

You seem to just have put a hate on Wesley, same you did to Traore and Trezeguet last season. Wesley has not been given a proper chance, look at the players who were not great last season have grown this year for us. Wesley could be one of them as well, he has great potential. Lets hope he returns from injury and give him a break.

I've just seen how good our next 7 fixtures are.

Aston Villa    v    Brighton & Hove Albion
West Ham United    v    Aston Villa
    Aston Villa    v    Newcastle United
    Wolverhampton Wanderers    v    Aston Villa
    Aston Villa    v    Burnley
West Bromwich Albion    v    Aston Villa
    Aston Villa    v    Crystal Palace

We should be looking to win at least 4-5 of those.

With how this season has gone so far, I would be more comfortable facing Chelsea, United, Spurs and City than Brighton, Burnley and WBA... :D

  12. I believe its too early to write him off. He had an unthankful job trying to work alone up top. Watkins do have more support than Wesley did.

Not sayin Wesley > Watkins, but I believe Wesley could also thrive more with a midfield that is better than previous season.

We need the depth he can give us, and he has the potential to become a top player in my eyes. Just hope the injury does not give permanent damage to his abilities.

  13. is johnnyp and Villalad21 the same person...?

Love the signing. Even without an option to buy. We can increase wages with more years in PL. He is at extremely high wages in Chelsea, and for the long-term I do not believe we should fork out those wages on players like Barkley anyways

Honest review, looked class going forward, put in a couple of beautiful crosses, worked his socks off, busted a gut to close players fown and hustle them.

Lets be real though, some of his tackles were ropey as hell, which is a minor thing, but against better opposition if he isn't careful they will get him sent off with two yellows.

Still a great performance though, if we had a player of his calibre at left back I would be very happy.

How Cash didnt get booked is beyond me. Atleast 3 fouls that all qualified for a yellow

    I don't like Bissaka and i don't like Fred.

I like defenders who stay on their feet, reads the game well and have good positional awareness.

I know that sliding in is just his style but it's not the style that i like.

    The Ouija board has spoken

Defensive duties is just half the job.

Had it not been for Elmo's crosses and also his goal against Newcastle we wouldn't even be in this league.

Guilbert is shocking going forward and we need another RB in the same mold of Matty Cash.

Still he does that half job better than the others you mention... You could turn it around and say had it not been for his defensive contribution we would not be in this league. Do you use a Ouija board to come up with your "facts"...

Yes, he lacks somewhat in the offensive parts. Does that mean he is worse than Cash and Elmohamedy, no. Cash is unproven, and Guilbert is PROVEN to be our best rightback.

You will be waiting months to get a response 😉

    Not expected anything less

Just that "facts wise" he was our highest rated defensive player last year at whoscored with 6.89 (Targett was second with 6.86). Elmo who is "comfortably" better had 6.55

Lot's of sentimentality going around here because you like the guy.

Fact is Elmo and Cash are both comfortably better than him.

This guy can't cross and defensively he was all over the place last season. Getting some money out of him and off the wage bill would just help a lot when trying to sign some more players.

Guilbert isn't good enough for where we want to get to. Simple as that.

Where are these so called facts?

  19. I dont even know if we get this guy or not. But the experience and hope (this thread) has been worth it! Would be one of the most impressive non-signing in a while. Hope we are making the worum and the WIPs of WB proud ❤️

    Ok.

But there was no point keeping Trez on for his defensive work yesterday as Sheffield really didnt have anything, stats midway through 2. half showed we had 83% possesion. At that point we needed someone who could create something, not someone that kept passing it backwards.

I agree, I would sub in El Ghazi yesterday to create something. The point was more to games where we would not be dominating possession to the amount we did yesterday :)

That is a bit wierd as they, for 90% of the games, one is playing in the right side and the other on the left

100% wrong name, probably because of frustration with Targett at times :(  :D Still point of defensive works stand, as his stats shows.

  22. 10 minutes ago, Taxahunter said:

You can say the same thing about Trez. He did nothing in yesterdays game to award him any minutes in the next match. And using your way of thinking, we will end up with zero players, if you by having a bad game has excluded yourself from the next game. You as a coach/manager should be bigger than that. At least if something doesnt work, dont keep on doing the same things, try something different. It might be that El Ghazi would have had the game of his life..At least he can run at people. Trez is just a headless chicken

To be fair to Trez, he does alot defensively. Targett is being saved by Trez ALOT during our games. However in games where we need goals, I would not play Trez.

    So the same as Trezeguet...

El Ghazi can create something, even thou I rate Trez over him due to the defensive contribution. Yesterday, we should have subbed him in to make something happen.
