I really hope someone starts a band called this, or perhaps writes a quirky children's book with this title. I do enjoy meeting oddly hyper-negative people myself, I guess because sometimes it seems like a normal response in our difficult, strange world. All that said, maybe just some fear and disappointment talking, too? For many Villa fans, I suspect the Mings injury felt much bigger than one of our players doing an ACL. It hits like a sledgehammer in the knees for a fanbase that was just getting on its feet again for Europe after years of crawling. A lot of emotions are out of whack. "Oddly hyper-negative" seems normal -- as does your response in trying to reel the feelings back in, which I also appreciate. It's almost as if Villa supporters need each other at times like this.

I am indeed extremely sad and kind of in shock. I'm definitely working my way through the kubler ross cycle. I can't believe it still.

But possibly out for 18 months (worst case scenario). Not being funny, but we’d have moved on by that point in terms of a starting 11. We can’t wait around for that long?

Why are you saying 18 months though? You're basically doubling the standard recovery time for literally no reason. It's funny to write a sentence like the one above and then end it with 'we can't wait around for that long?' as if what you're saying is anything other than oddly hyper-negative.

So with possibly over a year out and considering his age, I’m assuming he has played his last game for us then? All after 30mins or so, and chasing an offside.

Yesterday you were being crazy negative about Emery after one defeat, today Mings has played his last game—this is a lighthearted comment and not a dig, but do you consider yourself to be fairly negative when it comes to football? 😅

Gutted for the guy. Got to wonder if that's the last time we'll see him in a Villa shirt. I really hope not but given his age a 15 month lay off then the time it takes to get back what you've lost in terms of fitness and match sharpness I have serious doubts. He's been such a presence for the club on and off the field and such a great ambassador for the game with his kids academy I hope the club does right by him.

Can we just stop with the 15 month layoffs. It's a number plucked from nowhere.

A potential 15 months out and given our direction of travel, and his age, I hope this isn't the last time we see him put on a Villa shirt. The sad thing is that he had really found his form again under Emery last season.

Where did you pull 15 months out from? I don't know why there's the need to make things seem even worse.

Given the update sounds worse than the Buendia one, my mind immediately assumed at least 12. 😞

They used the same words in both announcements. Or did I miss something? Maybe I did.

Question, didn’t Unai say he was aware or what mistakes were made the last time he was managing in the premier league and knew what to do to rectify them?
What if it turns out that he doesn’t know what those mistakes were or how to rectify them?

Did you ever read that poem? The one with a line that goes something like,

'if you can keep your head after Villa losing one single game in the premier league under testing circumstances against a good team then you have learnt how to manage your emotions'

'And while all about you are losing theirs...blah blah'

The poem is a bit preachy tbh.

Loans for Harrison and zaniolo means we’re surely maxed out with FFP. How Chelsea are able to spend like they’ve done since Boehly arrived whilst we’re doing loan deals is definitely not financial fair play.

Or it just leaves us room to spend more elsewhere. It doesn't really imply anything conclusively. If Roma have a sell on clause, then maybe this deal is better for Galatasaray. Maybe.

Fab's trademark is "here we go" which indicates the deal is done. He tweeted that about Harrison and then massively backtracked. Ornstein doesn't do that.

    Meh. Who cares.

    Odd hatred of a journo

I was thinking this. Why is everyone so obsessed? Both the journalists are saying pretty much exactly the same thing, more or less.

With JJ and Buendia (eventually) coming back I think it makes sense only to go for a loan.

But will mean we have JJ, Emi, Coutinho, JPB and Harrison who prefers to play on the left + Tielemans and McGinn who played there yesterday. Feels like there won't be much game time for JPB.

We're barebones at the moment as it is and have a whole extra competition to play in, plus hopefully ambition to go further in cups than the third round.

Can see why we’d be interested in Harrison. He’d slot in on the left side, is very hard working, athletic, bit of pace. I don’t think he’s particularly high quality, but honestly, our injuries are killing us. Unfortunately, we may have to settle with a couple of average players just to get through the bloody season.

He's looked good every time I've seen him play, which isn't a lot to be fair.

I already see enough of that Bollox in the Daily Mail comments section, please don't torment me with it here as well ffs 😂

The obvious question here would be why are you lowering yourself to the Daily Mail (comments section)?

(I could have ended that question before the brackets)

Emery said "It's worse" when asked if it was a similar injury to Buendia. So that has me thinking the initial scan showed multiple ligaments damaged or ruptured.

I hope I'm wrong. Mings is my favourite Villa player and this happening to him is really upsetting and has derailed our season I'm quite sure.

He didn't say it like that. He said it was worse losing the the players than losing. I think he just expressed himself a little unclearly. I just went and watched it a few times. I feel confident in that appraisal.

Gutted for Mings. Only going off his reaction but it wouldn’t surprise me if we never seen him in a Villa shirt again. Might sound extreme but it will be the 2nd he’s done it and at his age it will tough to get back to anywhere near the level he was at.

What is it with these reactions?

    Terrible Injury Record

    Terrible Attitude

    Terrible Advisors

What's the worst that can happen

    1. People get ACL injuries and continue playing as if nothing has happened. His were a while ago.

    2. You don't actually know that based off one tweet.

    3. This too.

    4. Presumably Monchi, who signed him once, understands the situation. Presumably Emery is OK with it.

Foyth is hardly a priority. We are not desperate for a RB / RCB. Plus the price will be stupid. There's surely nothing in this. We're just being linked to help Villarreal if they sell him to Barcelona.

If the rumours about Carlos are true then maybe it would make sense.
