The main issue with training is we are less than two weeks until the season starts. I understand he is fulfilling his contract but if he is off then why do we want him there?

It seems a very odd situation to me, especially the official Twitter putting video snippets up of him. Needs to be sorted now and not drag on all week so we can move into the season one way or another.

He hasn’t had the chat yet. I think they must have decided it would look weird if he didn’t follow the schedule. But right after training he’s being yanked into a room with Dean, Purslow and NSWE on the blower.

He’s training because he’s staying. It’s as simple as.

If you have a contract for a job, you still go to work the next day, even if you are about to hand in your notice three days later.

Him turning up to training is definitely a sign of massive respect, unlike Neanderthal-Kane. But don’t think it’s a sign he is nailed on to stay.

BUT! If you don’t think all the players are in his ear telling him to stay. That’s awesome - might help. Having a laugh with SJM. It’s got to help on the margin. Kane doesn’t even want that in his ear - he’s out.

SSN now reporting 100 million on the table and Villa are leaving it up to Jack to decide. I doubt that's the truth or it works like that these days. Would be a bit harsh putting it on jack, the club know he would get killed on social media and the like, if they knew it was his decision to go.

Not harsh at all! In fact they are being incredibly generous. “We have you for 4 years, Jack. We’re investing heavily and we want you to be at the heart of this. You can be a Villa legend. But we realize the service you have given to this club and if you really want to leave we won’t stop you”.

Trying to work out, if there's a release clause and we're in negotiations, what exactly are we negotiating? The structure of the payment? Typically when a release clause has been triggered, it's reported by the media as such. Notable recent examples for us are Delph and Benteke. I do remember Liverpool trying to negotiate a deal below the release clause though, could this be what it is? Is there even a release clause? For all the journalists tripping over themselves trying to cover this story, they don't have cover it in mystery and confusion.

100 million cash now is very different to 20 for five years. I suspect even if it does exist and is 100, city are trying to stretch it out as far as possible. Villa don't want to sell, and so insist "100 now or **** off"

I’d still have trouble spending £200k in a week.

Guess I’d shop at Waitrose or something.

Half goes to tax right away…

    Save for your pension.

Pay your giant mortgage on the 5 million plus house you buy.

Clothes (there’s no way Jack wears the same outfit twice)

    Booze, cars, girls, blah…

Then you save the rest. Invest for the future!

I disagree with some of you guys that club almost should force him to complete his deal.

I believe 100% that there is gentlemens agreemet with jack and club.

Jack stayed in championship with us. Helped to promote us. Hes god damn mister villa.

In my view hes done enough to get whatever he demands.

If he wants to leave let him go cry and deal with it.

But dont even think to act with him in bad faith dont start waving a that 5year deal in front of his nose..Just let him go

Yeah. I imagine we said at the last contract - we can’t write a guarantee in your contract, but you stay another season and we have a gentleman’s agreement to let you go for X. Which is where all this confusion over a release clause may be coming from. It’s not legal - it’s verbal.

But if we did say that, then we have to be gentlemen and uphold it. That’s fair.

I think Jack has a big call to make this weekend. I don’t think even he knows right now if he is staying or going…

Yes and no. These guys have put a system in place that allows us to move forward if we lose personnel. And I don’t just mean players either. Smith is a head coach and if he leaves, they parachute someone else in to exactly the same set up without rewriting the whole rule book. That way, we’re never ‘starting over’.

When it comes to Grealish, it’s no different. Will they be able to replace him with a player as good? Of course not, but that doesn’t mean we can’t improve. I’ve mentioned it before but we’ll have stats, data and scouting reports on every single player in Europe and around £120m to spend (after Bailey arrives). The goal won’t be to replace Grealish, it will be to sign 2/3 very good players to improve the team. A very good left winger, defensive midfielder and no.8 will probably see us in a better place than if we kept Grealish and signed nobody else. Obviously, the best option is if we keep Grealish, and go on to sign a defensive midfielder but that might not be possible with the wages he’ll cost and the lack of transfer funds.

Chelsea won the Champions League without Grealish last year and Leicester won the FA cup without Grealish last year. A large part of this is because they don’t rely as much on an individual as we do - Grealish.

Then there are the issues with his shins. I’ve had shin splints before and it isn’t so much an injury, more an ailment. It just affects you and could come back at anytime. It’s completely unpredictable and not as tangible as say, a broken leg. If he moves on, it might flare up again and he may miss 15 games next year..

Leicester are a great example to follow. Get your scouting right and you can build a team and a system that keeps ticking along every year, even if you lose a Kante/Grealish. We’re also a much bigger club than Leicester and our ceiling is higher so if we can pull off what they do, with the right scouting etc. then a day will come when players like Grealish are desperate to join us.

I don’t want him to leave. It will probably be the toughest thing to take as a Villa fan in the last however many years, but the club, and us fans, need to see the opportunity amongst the despair. We will go on, and we can get better.

More fool Grealish for leaving when Mings steps up to lift the FA cup next year.

Even if he leaves, we’re still in a much better position than when he was in a Steve Bruce formation. We’ve been spoiled the last few years. We are on the up whether Jack is here or not. If he doesn’t want to be here, I don’t want him here either - so long as we screw maximum $$$ out of city in the process.

I won’t hate him, I just won’t care about him or be interested in anything he does - just like my ex wife. Small club mentality is getting all worked up because a worldie is leaving us. Jacks value is basically close to as high as it’s ever going to get. It would not be the worst thing in the world if he leaves - even if we can’t replace him with another worldie.

Wouldn't it be grounds for NSWE and the brains behind this smart group to basically stop any Transfer involving City in fear that they believe City and any offer they make is built on grounds of deceiving, Fraud and whatever other crimes have been made??

It sounds as though they are basically screwed this time and have committed serious offences, wouldn't NSWE solicitors bang ther heads together and I'm sure come up with a loophole to stop City buying up Jack?

They aren’t doing anything illegal. It’s real money earned “fairly”, they are just breaching the terms of the league and FIFA.
