To be fair Everton brought us down to their level, but I was annoyed we weren't able to mitigate their tactics better. On another day we could so easily have conceded in that 2nd half. I've seen it happen so many times before where we go one up and throw it away and I thought it would happen again, but luckily Everton weren't good enough to capitalise. Whether you or I see it differently it doesn't matter, we got a much-needed win so I'm happy.

Very scrappy win and 2nd half we were awful but the win is all that matters. Keeping possession when leading seems to be a major issue with Villa no matter who is manager. Hopefully they sort out the Everton thugs who lobbed bottles onto the pitch. Need to go on a good run of results now with a favourable fixture list for the next 6 weeks.

Thought he looked fine in his 25 mins cameo against United and has had full week of training. He could be gassing after 45-60 mins but he gives us a better chance of winning and we really need a win (haven't won in over a month now). Alternatives are Carney, great talent but don't think he's ready for start just yet, Ings and Watkins again which hasn't worked all season, or Sanson in and Ramsey pushed further forward. But Sanson looks completely devoid of confidence and it was his mistake that led to United's second goal.

I'd start Coutinho too and give him 60-70 minutes. Surprised how many that are having him as sub, I think peeps forget we were 2-0 down when he came on last week. We don't want to be in that position again. We need a win here and Coutinho starting gives us a better chance of that happening. Allan apparently isn't available for them so even less chance they'll be able too handle him. I'd go: Martinez, Cash, Konsa, Mings, Digne, Luiz, McGinn, Ramsey, Coutinho, Buendia, Watkins. Hause for Konsa if he's not fit. Job done.

There's a lot of optimism around us right now because of the signings of Coutinho and Digne and I can see why. Whilst at Everton they're very gloomy. However, in terms of results our form isn't any better than theirs. Last 5 games we have 4 points, last 5 games they have 4 points. Our games maybe slightly harder than theirs (Liverpool, Norwich, Chelsea, Brentford and Man U v Arsenal, Palace, Chelsea, Brighton and Norwich) but not a lot in it. It's not an ideal time to play them with the manager situation, but we need a win just as much if not more than them. We're 13th which is crap. We certainly can't be losing this game. Ideally I'd be hoping for the following in the next 6 to get us up the table: Everton (a) - D or W, Leed (h) - W, Newcastle (a) - D or W, Watford (h) - W, Brighton (a) - D, Southampton (h) - W. Think minimum of 12 points has to be the aim.

Thankfully we took something from the game but for much of it we were sloppy, defensively poor and ineffectual going forward. Coutinho changed the game when he came on and has to start the next game.

We'll probably stay up but finishing 14th-17th with this team is not good enough. Losing 4/5 games in a row is not good enough. Passing to the opposition to gift them goals time and again is not good enough. Letting in soft goals is not good enough. I don't know anyone who can be happy with this. We've spent hundreds of millions and our players look substandard.

Yes 100%. 12 defeats in 20 is actually embarrassing given the players we have. I don't want to get on Gerrard's back yet but he's been backed in the market and this will be 5 defeats in 9 in the league and 6 in 10 in all comps. Similar to Smith.

The Martinez error really was terrible. He's been great for us but he can't be called one of the best in the world when he makes mistakes like that. And it's not the first time either.

As Keane said, they're saves you'd expect him to make. Our finishing is generally awful and is either straight at the keeper or wide or high. Very rarely do our strikers or midfielders shoot into the corner.

Surprised no boos at HT, that was horrendous on the whole.

This season so far has to be a 2/10 at best. We've been Everton levels poor this season but bury our head in the sands because we're signing Digne and Coutinho.

Gets even worse if Hause comes one. Jesus Christ.
