Good to get to HT level but going forward we've been pretty woeful. Don't really remember any chances for us that half. The good thing is we have decent attacking options on the bench and have kept them pretty quiet other than a couple of scares where we've lunged in in the box. Hate the Plop fans in the crowd. Ref needs to make sure he doesn't pander to their demands for everything to go their way.

Yeah, that's probably the case. He's also a useful set piece taker. I just hope the pace of the game isn't too much for him as Plop play at a very high intensity.

Buendia probably dropped because his sloppy passing has put us in trouble a few times. Still not convinced Young should be starting for us at his age in the front three but Gerrard obviously likes him and we do have injuries there. Good options on the bench with Ings, Sanson, AEG, Carney and Buendia. I see Trez there too. Must stay in the game and look to hit them on the break.

Very difficult game, Plop have been massively boosted at the back with Van Dijk's return and Salah is playing like a man possessed this season. Jota is doubtful so if he doesn't play at least one of their front three is missing (and Firmino isn't fit either I don't think). Key thing for us is to start much better than the last 2 games. We need to start the game how we started the 2nd half against City or Leicester or first half against Palace without being too open. The full backs need to be a bit more conservative in this one given the quality of their full backs and wide players. If we score first it would make the game interesting. We've generally performed well at Anfield over the last decade even when we were shite, hopefully put in another good performance today.

Let's be honest the 1st half was hard to watch, but the 2nd half was a really good performance other than the last 10 minutes when we couldn't get out. We should have killed the game off with the Watkins and Ramsey chances. MOTM to Konsa as he scored two goals, but could easily have been Nakamba again or even Martinez for that great save. Carney looks a real prospect and helped us a lot when he came on. Referee gets a very poor for the awful decision not to give Ramsey's goal, but I thought Luiz got away with one with the penalty. We are so much more aggressive under Gerrard. He has really fired this team up. My main concern is the ball retention which is still poor for large parts of games and if players like Buendia keep giving the ball away cheaply then it will continue to be an issue.

We've let them back in it after dominating most of the half so far. Gerrard needs to start freshening it up if it continues.

We were much improved against City in the 2nd half on Wednesday, need a similar upturn in performance TBH. The game can be won as their defending is all over the place when we do attack.
