    More hatred than obsession.

They sang "S*** on the Villa" in the cup and i'm sure they will sing it today as well.

I don’t speak for all Wolves fans at all, but I’ve never minded Villa. We both dislike those two in blue and white and thats good enough for me.

While I’m at it, I’m being well received in here again, thanks for that.

Hopefully you’ll be less keen to see me at 4pm 😄

You WILL be in there at the same time as my mate and if I had managed to get a ticket myself also.

It is indeed a very great pub but then anywhere that sells Bathams is automatically a great pub in my view.

We used to have a half way stop at The Olde White Rose in Bilston but that fine institution is now sadly closed.

Nice one mate, I do love it in there.

Unfortunately I won’t be there now as the tube was shit for me and I’ve missed my train, had to buy another ticket so I won’t have time for the pub now unfortunately.

I should be easy to spot, I’ll be the sober one on the south bank 😄

Oh god not this obsession thing. Check back over my posts, I don’t mind the Villa at all.

Shouting ‘Obsession’ every time someone talks about you does you know good though, you’re like a girl who thinks everyone hates you because you’re just prettier than everyone else.

Ignore me though, I’m pissed off as TFL have made me miss my **** train.

I was in The Great Western a few years ago before a game at Molinau... Mollenew...... Moulinax...... Your place with my Wolves mate and his friends and we saw a Wolves fan who forever since is referred to as Lord Byron. I guess you had to be there, if you saw him you would understand but apparently he's never been seen in there before or since.

I should probably have drunk less beer before posting this.

Great pub, that’s my first stop today after getting off the train.

They are all a little strange though aren't they. 6 fingers on each hand and still cant count past 5. and all totally obsessed with the Villa

Yes, we're all inbred monsters who live in caves doing nothing but wishing for the downfall of our witty neighbours.

Six fingers, I'll have to remember that one, you must be the Holte End's Oscar Wilde!

2-1 away win. Then AVFC twitter will be dingle free for a while. Unreal the sheer volume of that lot piping up Zzzzzzzz

Villa fans are all over wolves’ Twitter hashtag too. Heard this referred to as the ‘twitter derby’ as those are the only fans who really seem to care.

for us this game is secondary in importance to the Bratislava game in my opinion this week.
I have a bad feeling about Sunday to be honest.

  7. I really don’t know what the club’s ambitions are, but based on the teams they’ve put out and the pragmatic approach to certain games it seems clear to me that those are the competitions we’re targeting.

I believe Wolves think they can go deep into the Europa League, and I expect we’re chasing a top ten finish again.

To be clear, I agree with the points about some of our play, I’d love to see us sign a Maddison type player to open up some of the deep sitting teams. It wasn’t all counter attack against Arsenal however, first ten minutes and last ten of the first half we controlled the game and had lots of possession in the Arsenal half.

I think it would be greedy and unrealistic to expect a team in their second year to have FA Cup semi finals, 7th placed finish, European football, and play amazing attacking flowing football.

By the way, you lot are doing so well, especially given the turnover in players last summer, I’m worried about Sunday.

  8. Surprised at the response on here to last Wednesday.

Europa League and Premier League are clearly our priorities, and 25 shots against arsenal (record for an away team I think) suggests we’re not too defensive.

Does your feud with Watford predate last season’s semi final?  What’s the origin of it?

Feud is probably too strong a word, but last season we seemed to be in each other’s way all season, which reminds me of Wolves and Villa in the championship, and I believe because of our vicinity that has stuck around. I guess we like a grudge. Correct me if I’m wrong but you lot and Newcastle don’t get on do you?

with Watford There was a fan of theres badly hurt in Wolverhampton a few years back then last season when they beat us home their ex Albion keeper was rubbing it in on Twitter and Deeney was a bit of a prick after the semi.

We seemed to be rivals for the last European spot all season, it was good to beat them in April after that semi final.

You seem one of the decent ones, but the ones I've encountered on social media have just really hacked me off. I don't mind friendly banter and bashing, but some of the comments have been plain hostile and aggressive and for absolutely no reason as far as I can see. We've never really been rivals up to this point.

Yeah I agree. Twitter especially is bloody horrible.

It’s not just Villa though, it’s been similar with Watford for a few years.

Villa fans on Twitter been nowhere near as bad as Wolves towards us on Twitter or on that Molineux Mix. If you saw some of the comments you'd think they were Barcelona and not in League 1 only a few seasons ago. I guess that's what money does to some clubs fans.

Glad Everton beat them today, can't stand them.

Well that’s just not true at all.

I don’t know what being in league one has to do with our current squad which has one player in it from that time.

Absolutely no one thinks we’re Barcelona, but we’re rightly enthused about the last couple of seasons and the trajectory we seem to be on.

Theres plenty of negativity on Molineux Mix. I’m sorry you can’t stand us. I think you’re all great.

  12. Yeah it’s a bit of a concern. We won’t go down (probably) so I’m happy for us to go all in the Europa League.

I don’t really care if any set of fans are in the right or not on social media, they all look pretty pathetic to me, I just don’t want to hear that Villa fans don’t care about Wolves because plenty seem to.

They're looking like shit this season, could be in for a rude awakening with European commitments, their squad is too thin and some of their key midfield players aren't in form.

One loss in ten this season. We won’t be knocking on the door of the top six or anything, but European football sees to be our priority.

We looked awful today, but I expected this, as I said earlier in this thread. I’m very happy with the start of our season.

As an aside, Villa fans all over Wolves twitter today from the off. It’s not a one way thing at all.

The big thing for Wolves is that Nuno loves to keep the same XI and he is now being force to change it for games. He loves to prepare in detailed fashion and he isn't getting the time he wants to prepare for PL games. Wolves realistically could get CL football through the Europa league and it would be wortwhile to sacrifice a few places in the league to do that.

This is how I read it too.

By the way I was travelling on Friday so I didn't get to watch it, but congratulations on your win.

all of that makes sense but at the same time you are excusing them from performing, you are lowering expectations and pressure on the team and that is why I think the performance dip following the EL is more pronounced, its forecasted and then played up to

You could be right but that’s hard to prove. History says it makes a difference so you should expect a dip in the league at some point.

Plenty of people were frustrated on Sunday for sure.

I get the feeling the club’s priority is Europe too, and for the first time Nuno is having to be more forward thinking in his team selections.

why doesn't the champions league have the same effect then?

thats what im on about too, one of the leading papers in the country stating in mid august before a balls been kicked that there is a danger they wont perform as well this season because the EL is a "burden"  its a mental belief that the media spout, that the fans buy in to it and it will eventually feed back to the players who dip in performance and get away with it

I think its a self perpetuating myth and a really interesting look in to the mental fragility of football

Well, I'd say it has an effect, but less of one as the teams in the Champions League are better, and with bigger and better squads than those down the table.  The gap between 4th and 7th is massive.

On top of this, many of our most important players didn't have much of a break at all this summer.  Four of our Portugese lot won the Nations League, and Raul won the Gold cup before we headed to China.

I'm expecting our first loss of the season away at Everton on Sunday having got through against Torino.  We won that game last season 3-1 so if I'm right that means we'll have dropped six points from the same fixtures as last season in just four games, which is significant.  It will still have been a decent start to the season.

I expect us to field weak sides in the League Cup.

the whole sunday game performance dip after a EL game is complete and utter bollocks, its a myth the media concocted and players play up to, moutinho for example has 116 caps for Portugal and 124 appearances in European competition but playing 3 games in 8 days with 2 flights in between causes his performance to drop? not having it

CL doesn't do it, international tournaments don't do it but Thursday night games are different? nope, its a get out of jail card

I don't think the stats agree with you, teams who enter the Europa League in a fashion similar to Wolves last season tend to drop points the following season, we've already dropped three from the equivalent fixtures last season.  On top of that, Wolves only really had one day to prepare for Burnley, where as they had a week, plus we played on the Monday the week before, not at the weekend.

It's absolutely going to have an effect.
