  1. Please enlighten me Steve, why wasn't Grealish in the starting line-up?
  2. Brentford just beat managerless Sheffield Wednesday 2-0. As he was previously a Wednesday player, I wouldn't be surprised if they are interested. If the Villa see him as someone for the long term, they may need to do something about it now rather than wait to see what Bruce does for the rest of the season.
  3. ........... And yet I'd rather have Defoe in my team any day.
  4. We're down to 9th. It just keeps getting better.
  5. Not worried at all. Look at how a Dean Smith plays the game, with speed, aggression, expansive and never afraid to go for goal. That's what excites us about bringing him in and playing a style of football that we all crave. We've played the safe card with Bruce and it is absolute dross. No more. We want young, exciting and a team that looks like it has a chance to win every game, not hopefully grind out a result.
  6. The Villa Board In case you're interested, here's link to Dean Smith on the training field coaching his team. This is what we want to see from our manager. https://www.brentfordfc.com/news/2017/december/20171215---training/ Video PRE-BARNSLEY TRAINING 16 December 2017 Brentford FC Training continues at Jersey Road. 7. I just woke up on the east coast and it's -12 degrees. I was hoping the Villa had done the right thing and got rid of him this morning. Looking at social media, it doesn't look it''s going to happen any time soon. Honestly, what do the board and owner need to see before he gets sacked. We are just an awful team with no confidence or pattern of play. -12 and a shit manager. It's depressing.
  8. My main hope is that we don't hit 2,000 posts and he's still here. I'm hoping for less than 1,500 and gone.
  9. Just read the following, it about sums up how bad things are, and how we need a change: Popular bookmaker, bet365, have been reflecting on the result at Griffin Park, highlighting that in Villa’s 18 months in the Championship, they have spent more on transfers than Brentford have in their entire history.
  10. Dr Xia, in the unlikely event that you are reading this forum, here's my expert advice to you: Sack Bruce now and employ Dean Smith. He's managed against the Villa four times and never lost. Three of these were against Bruce and we got away with murder in the 0-0 draw. Ask yourself why Steve Bruce is so hesitant to bring youth in to the game. Don't count Davies as he had no other option that day and it saved his bacon. Brentford had a 20-year old playing at center half that had come up through the U23 from last season and he was superb. we have better youth talent and they don't get a sniff. At no time has anyone ever said I want us to play like a Steve Bruce team. why is that? Because it's the most unimaginative, negative, boring brand of football imaginable. Now the results are matching the football. These days you cannot live on grinding out 1-0, or 2-1 results. The influx of foreign players has meant that the championship game is more technical, dynamic and strategic than ever before. It has left Bruce behind. Please employ a manager that has earned their FIFA Pro licence, not given one. Dean Smith earned his Pro license from years of studying tactics, taking exams, managing semi-pro teams, youth teams, etc. It was handed to him like it was for Bruce, who got his by attending a 1-day course because he was grandfathered in. Ask yourself, does Steve Bruce get the best of of this team? If the answer is No, and we know it's no, then you know the right thing to do. As a businessman you have never been afraid of making a tough decision. This is an easy one.
  11. Here's why we should employ Dean Smith tomorrow. He gets the best out of his players ! He sold his three best players to the Blues at the start of the season, and look at what's happened to them. Hogan, looks distinctly average in our side. Every time we play Brentford they are the better team. Better organized, better football and ultra confident on the ball. Not once do we see them hoofing the ball up aimlessly. There's a plan, a backup plan, and the manager can make things happen on the fly. Today, he played Josh MacEchran for the first time for a few weeks. Why?, because he needed someone to take care of Grealish in the floating role he had. As soon as Davies came on, MacEchran went off because we went to 4-4-2. Oh how pleasant it is to see a manager with a plan and able to react. Get him in tomorrow. Please
  12. If anyone asked for my advice, here's what I would say: If it was up to me I would sack him now. However, we have three games in the next week or so. Surely if we don't have six points from those three he has to go. If he stays, please don't give this man any money to spend in January. To pay almost $10 million for Hogan last year, quadruple his wages, and not play the guy at all is beyond me. What sort of player did you think you were getting Steve. He needs play off a target man, not be the target man. I can't believe we haven't got a center half in the U23's. If we don't, then Steve you need to have a word with the youth coach. Any other reason, you should be fired as Saturday was a disaster playing a midfielder in defense. I'm tired of watching garbage football. It's slow, predictable and then it gets worse ............. Hoof. The core of our squad are past their sell by date. Please add youth. I honestly believe Dean Smith would get this team playing exciting football and winning games with the talent we have. Brentford have finished top10 the last two years with a fraction of the talent we have, and sell their best players every year. The next week or so will be interesting.
  13. Watch out Boxing day Stevie. Brentford are a better footballing side than we are and if we play like that we won't be able to rely om Johnstone to save us again. If we get outclassed by Dean Smith again, I know where my vote will be.
  14. Expect to get beaten on Boxing day. Brentford have a younger, quicker team that can dominate possession. They have only lost 2 in their last 16. With our negative tactics we have got no chance.
  15. Dreadful. Plus we were fortunate to get a penalty.
  16. Sheffield have settled for a draw. It's up to us now.
  17. Next two games are key for me, especially the Brentford one on Boxing Day. If Dean Smith turns him over again, having sold their best players earlier in the season, then it's a simple decision for me. He has to go, and Smith should replace him before the January transfer window to add a bargain or two.
  18. Here's where I am on things: I do not believe we are a good enough team to get automatic promotion I think it's 50/50 we get in to the playoffs I always want the Villa to win, but I really don't think Bruce is the answer. I wish he would have gone after the poor start to this season It's so difficult to watch the Villa. We have some of the best players and play the least attractive football. There are times we look clueless We have a squad that would beat 5 out 10 teams without trying with me as the manager. The million dollar question is what happens when we play the other 5 teams. With Bruce in charge the answer is we don't win against enough of those games and we look poor doing it. If we lose to Brentford on Boxing day he needs to go. Dean Smith will have then beaten him twice and tied once. Sack Bruce, hire Smith
  19. The stat that jumps out to me is that we have one of the lowest shots per game ratios in the league. Take a look at Brentford, now that's entertainment. Imagine what Dean Smith could do with a couple of decent strikers?
