  1. Good post, albeit a bit of confirmation bias noted. Do you think he will be lovingly accepted by the Liverpool fans, like K. Diggy, or will they be on his back from the start of the season, like Woy? He'll get plenty of tme and patience for the first 2/3 years definitely. The problem with fans of other clubs is you read Twitter or even worse the hysterically awful RAWK and base your judgements on them which gives the complete wrong impression of what LFC fans are thinking and feeling. There is a huge divide growing bewteen the traditional LFC fans who live in the North West and go the match or have season tickets and are in their late 20s and onwards and the OOTers who parade themselves on the internet as uber LFC fans who are a lot younger and have no idea how too act with patience and respect. It really is worlds apart. Its the same for most clubs I reckon the internet and things like Twitter and bloody RAWK or RedCafe etc give these idits a platform and a voice centre stage when in times gone by we wouldnt have heard from these bafoons so now LFC has an, imho, this unfair reputation of calling for Managers heads straight away and having no patience. If the internet was bigger and we had Facebook and Twitter in the past these people would have been screaming for the heads of Shankly in his first couple of years, same with Rafa (oh my God he only came 5th below EFC in his first season! Herecy! CL win not good enough!) and Houllier. Sorry about the long rant but this idea that LFC fans have changed on the whole and no longer give their Managers time really grinds my gears as for real traditional fans this is not true. Its just that the numpty plastic fans out scream the patient fans thanks to the internet. I have to point out though that Woy was a complete anomaly and didn't get time because he was completely and utterly the wrong person for the job. Think of over the years what type of qualitys Managers of Liverpool have had like Shankly, Paisley, Dalglish, Rafa even Ged, he had the exact opposite qualities and because of this lost the fans and dressing room in record time. He disrespected everything about LFC and insulted the fans and the players straight away and treated them with distain and you just don't do that and then expect to get time and understanding. He truly was a square peg in a round hole who was brought in as a patsy yes man to the MD who wanted to play Footy Manager with the LFC first team. Fans were willing to give him support and time and respect when he was first appointed after Rafa and within two months he spat that back in everyones face. He was basically our version of Alex McCleish minus him managering our biggest rivals. Rodgers will be given time and support from the off and what will help is that fans' expectations have now come down to a more health and realistic level. Lastly, I am a Psychologist by day and I can assure you there is no confirmation bias on my side. I am usually pessimistic about Liverpool given the last 5 years since the first Yanks came in but becuase of the research I have done and from speaking to Watford, Reading and Swansea fans I am very optimistic this time and really do think he is going to be an inspired appointment, especially when he has the rest of the Technical Team around him when appointed next week. Again, sorry about the rant boys but I am very passionate about the first part of this!
  2. thing is, even king kenny was phasing him out, but as soon as Rodgers does it, they'll want him strung from a lamp post. I disagree respectfully mate. I haven't spoke or come across any fans in real life or on the boards (not RAWK that place is a circus tat doesn't count that the majority of LFC fans are ashamed is even connected with us - its a stain on our name) who don't want Rodgers to bomb Carra out and Gerrard not too far behind.
  3. I agree Trent said the same to my mates. Barring some freak miracle or some really strong FFP rules being upheld LFC can forget about PL titles unless were taken over by some massively rich sugar daddy like Roman or the Sheik. Most supporters I speak to have massively lowered their expectations after last 3 seasons and would be more than happy with top 6 this season and next and if were back in the top 4 within 3 years most people I know would be happy enough than that. I haven't spoke to anyoine who has talked about title challenges anytime in the future and I think proper, non-plastic twitter fans' expectations are at a realistic level now compared to where the club is currently.
  4. Been reliably informed that Rodgers has been guaranteed a very minimum of 2 to 3 years to be sniffing around 4th not within it. Thats no matter what the fans say or do the owners have assured him, so he doesn't have to worry too much about time and patience yet. He should be fine and I after spendi ng the last 3 days reading everything there is to read that I could get my hands on about his career, his philosophy and his tactics and methods I am really confident FSG have got the right man for the job. By researching and learning about him in detail he really doe's become an exciting young prospect and I am looking forward to it immensely. He has excellent man management skills and has the gift of the gab so I'm confident he can convince our better players to buy into his vision so not too worried about losing people, although I still have slight concerns over Reina and Skrtel, possibly Suarez with him being so close to Dalglish. I am also liking the sounds of the new european style structure FSG are implementing too and it sould work well with Rodgers giving him the support he needs to success and glad there won't be a DOF above him as such but 3 people working alongside him in charge of different technical aspects. I feel so much more confident now Dalglish has gone and we have this new young and modern manager more suited to todays game and think ith this new approach and structure we can be back in the top 4 within the 2 to 3 years he is getting. However, as always the proof will be in the pudding so we will see what happens in the next couple of years. Cautiously optimistic and excited. Rodgers has also told Gylfi Sig to sign for Swansea regardless which I thought was a nice touch from him towards his old club.
  5. Yeh Trent I'd take the second bit with a good pinch of salt coz I'm not sure he ain't just a bullshitter throwing darts out. I personally feel RM shot himself in the foot and ruined his Villa chances by wanting to wait for LFC. According, to my Wigan supporting friends (yes, there are a few of them believe it or not up here!) reckon that RM feels a clearing in the woods now and wouldn't take any job coz he reckons he'd be seen as a LFC and/or Villa reject but I can only speak for LFC and HE knocked us back so I dunno how that makes him a reject? I have a soft spot for Wigan though. The very first game I ever attended was Wigan v Chester City in a 3-3 thriller! It was the 80s and me Dad was out of work so couldn't take us to Liverpool/Everton so that had to do but they were great games and times and I still have a slight affection for them. I remember when RM signed for them as a player with the other two Spaniards.
  6. I know for 100% fact tht Martinez was approached for initial talks just like OGS was by Lerner/Faulkner and his agents told Lerner he was interested but wanted to see what happened with LFC first which was when the move broke down. I'm led to believe that Martinez's agents then approached Villa again after Martinez knocked back LFC but Villa had moved on by then however this last bit is from a different person who doesn't have a proven track record. The only reason I know about what happened between your club and Martinez is because obviously we were interested in him so during our involvement with him we found out from our source what happened between Villa and Martinez. The source we have is as good as they come so I extremely confident that this happened, in fact I think Trent knows the source I am referring to from us conversing last Summer during the Downing transfer.
  7. we did sound out other managers though, i saw it on the world wide whelan Through the goings on between Martinez and Liverpool found out that Villa spoke to RM on at least 2 occasions. One of these times must of been before LFC had approached big gob Whelan. Like FSG it sounds like Lerner wanted to initially speak with a host of candidates and then take it from there and not put all his eggs in one basket from what I've been told and reading all the stuff and info on here.
  8. AVB's talks fell through with Liverpool because he had stupid demands the top of which being a guaranteed contract where he was unable to be sacked for a set amount of time. He has apparently made similar demands when speaking to other clubs so he would no doubt ask for it from Villa as he is scared another early sacking after a year will finish him. He wants an insurance policy where no matter how 'revolutionary' he is - think Chelsea's old guard - he won't be made to look bad again by being sacked again in the midst of it. From a top person proven source. Told thats the snag with the Roma job too.
  9. I've had it on semi-decent authority that he's been lined up for Inter, not that I'm ITK though. Just couldnt see him coming here, would be a big step down for him at the end of the day Probably the most likely outcome. Depends how much his reputation was damaged by the season at Chelsea. Seeing an average manager like RDM take over from him and win two cups doesn't look good for anyone... It's interesting that Liverpool aren't even considering him. Possibly that he wont want to work under Van Gaal? I don't know where the Guardian is getting this from as he has already had an initial interview according to all the people linked to LFC worth their salt. He is meant to be having more talks next week or lst thing this week.
  10. The best Liverpool ITK I know (got Downings move down to when leaked stories would appear in the press - knew more than Kendrick) has posted that AVB had an interview with LFC owners whilst they were in London for the FA Cup final. If he says that happened - it happened. Thats how much I trust him and how right he has always been proved with the few bits of info he has passed on. Not one journalist in the country, besides possibly Tony Barrett and Chris Bascombe (big ifs though) have a sniff what goes on at LFC since the new lot came in. They work very hard to keep the ship locked down and the only stuff that gets out is stuff they leak - like Dalglish being sacked/Kit deal with Warrior (genrally positive stuff that makes them look good). They won't have a clue bout AVB or Martinez - we only know about Martinez becaue of Dave Whelans big mouth. AVB is still the favourite for the LFC job and is desperate for it to settle some scores. If he took the Villa job I'b be beyond shocked based on what we know. Only thought it was fair to share (wouldn't usually post up here) since the AVB to Villa posts where gathering pace. FWIW, I think you have a much greater chance with Martinez from what we've been told and he may even prefer the Villa job to the Liverpool job.
  11. Only becuase he's halfway through his project with Ajax. He said he was honoured and let it be known he would be definitely interested in the future when the timing was better. Rodgers is still in contention behind the scenes. he didn't want to be seen to have an interview, not get it, and then look a traitor to Swansea fans. He said if the actual job is offered to him he would definitely consider it and said to come back if his services are wanted fully. Its not the club thats the issue or these Managers, its the recruitment process of FSG there not enthralled by. If Martinez doesn't get the job after his interview, has he meant to go back to Wigan as if nothing happened?
  12. Liverpool will not appoint a Manager over the age of 45. It seems early front runners are Martinez and AVB but Lambert, Rodgers and Benitez will also be given an interview if interested. These are the latest rumours doing the rounds from those supposedly in the know. Myself, knowing the philosophy of JWH and FSG they will be attracted to managers with good records of working with and bringing thru young players like Rogers and Martinez.
  13. Downing seems extremely low on Confidence and a bit overwhelmed. He's not the most strong charactered of people is he. His team meates moan at him and his head justs drops down and he doesn't even reply. He was better tonight though than he has been. Actually beat a few players and got a few decent crosses and shots in. A small step in the right direction. Gerrard made him look very ordinary though.
  14. "Letting Evra come out of it looking bad?" As if he was phoning up Dennis Smith insisting he ban Suarez because he had nothing better to do. Of course he would back their decision, it was the right decision. I back their decision as well. Presumably that's proof that I was also in on the conspiracy to rig the decision just to piss of Liverpool? So him being mates with Fergie categorically had absolutely no influence on his decision. Of course Fergie is going to defend his player, especially if it means getting one over the club he hates the most.
  15. I've read in a few places that sudaca was the word that was used. But according to wiki it's a word used by the Spanish to insult Latin Americans. I imagine it's used to say they are the superior race to them or something, so it wouldn't really mean much at all coming from a black guy would it? He hasn't admitted saying it either.. Thank you for this. Someone who has bothered to actually learn all the facts. Evra speaks fluent Spanish and called him a racially charged derogatory term for South Americans - Sudaca. This was reported to the Panel by someone else but Suarez just said he didn't hear it although later admitted he had. Evra also accused the Ref of being racist. No-one talks about these two things. I wonder why? Apparently when this is all done where going to put a complaint into the FA about Evras use of the Sudaca word and see if he gets the same treatment as Suarez. Suarez is considering suing for Defamation based principally on The Mirror Racist headline.
  16. He's guilty because he admitted it and thats the evidence the FA will use. As for people hating him. Unfortunately when you are a complete tosser, people will often be against you. If he wasn't such a diving, biting, fan abusing prick then maybe the general public would hold a different view of him? I hope this continues though. Liverpool and their fans make a bigger circus of themselves every year. Long may it continue. I am so pleased you posted this as all you have done is proven be right so thank you. This is nothing to do with what Suarez said for most people. Its down to the fact they hate Suarez, which started along time before the incident with Evra. You have satisfied me as has the other poster who wrote similar sentiments towards Suarez above. The people who say they had no feeling towards Suarez or Liverpool before all this Evra stuff began, their the ones I actually respect and listen to as they are not biased.
  17. i keep hearing them whinge that Fergie wants them out of title race. FFS get a grip on reality. Liverpool have same chance as Villa of winning title. ZERO Nothing to do with a title race. I or any other Liverpool fan never said it had anything to with a title race. You made that up yourself.
  18. an independent commision everybody understands this except Liverpool fans and he has admitted using the word in the game How do you know he admitted using that word or are you just accepting that at face value too? The were hardly an independen panel when 2 of the members have big links to Man U and the person bringing the charges plays for Man U and Liverpool and Man U hate each other. You would be dubious if Villa were in the same situation and 2 members of the alledgedly independent panel had close links to Birmingham City too.
  19. Unless they happen to be a reserve goalkeeper who happens to smile during a minutes silence of course. Then you will suspend him for 14 days. What that keeper did was unforgivable. he was cracking jokes in the middle of the 20th Anniversary memorial service of Hillsborough where people were sat in front of him crying over their lost loved ones and his OWN CAPTAIN was sat there mourning the family he lost on that day. It was the height of bad taste and insensitivity and he deserved everythin he got. Every Liverpool player is hugely briefed on the Hillsborough tragedy and everything to do with it when they sign. It is included in the DVDs they get on arrival. The reason I know this as I used to be very good friends with an ex Liverpool player who just happens to play for your club now. The fact you would even bring up the Itandje incident as a sort of stick to beat Liverpool supporters with is just completely crass and disgusting. What did you expect us to do to him? Pat him on the back and tell him well done lad!! Idiot!!
  20. Because its not a normal situation, Suarez allegedly used a word that another player classed as racist and is not a well used word in this country. Its completely different to any other case and is why it took ages. If your conspiracy theory is correct, why didn't they just decide overnight if they wanted to screw Liverpool over? Why did Kenny seem to defend all that Suarez has done, but conveniently miss him giving the Fulham crowd the finger? There has been a previous case or alleged racist language with the FA and it was dealt with a lot quicker and more straight forward than this case. No reason for this one to be different. The reason where concerned is because (and I think anyon with half a brain would be a bit concerned by the following): 1) The FA took 3 times the amount of time as expected to actually just decide if they were going to charge Suarez or not. 2)It was 3-4 weeks after the 2 players and ref and other players involved in the incident were interviewed that the charge was finally announced. It set a new precedent for how long it had taken to decide whether to even charge someone or not. 3) The panel was meant to last 3 days with the FAs decision announced on the friday, the final day, after a break for deliberation. For an unknown an un stated reason the FA decided to postpone this till AT LEAST the following Tuesday without any explanation as to why this was necessary. 4)In all other cases and it is statutory that the club recieve written reasoning as to how the panel arrived at there decision 24-48 hours after the panels verdict is announced. This has been put back to where it could be upto 6 weeks after the panels decision that we receive an ACTUAL explanation as to why Suarez was found guilty. 5)There were/are credible reports that one of the reasons there was a delay in the initial panel decision being announced because one of the panel members had "changed their mind" and they needed a unanimous decision. If this all happend to your club or your player this way and the FA wouldn't so much as give you an explanation as to why they are taking the piss like this you would be angry too. And regardless what any of you say if this same thing happened with one of your players and they were treated the way Suarez has been treated you'd be defending them just as much as we are and you know you would but you don't have the balls to admit it. Suarez has been branded a racist and will carry that reputation with him forever EVEN THOUGH the person and the body that have brought charges againt him have both said uneqivocably that they do not believe him to be a racist. Just look at the back page of The Mirror the next day. In regards to the fulham finger EVERYBODY missed him do that and it would of stayed like that if a picture hadn't of been taken of him just like with all the other pros its happened with who got away it includin our own Raul meireles.
  21. Where though? I'm sure its true but there has been no actual proof he said anything just 'reported' in papers etc which means jack. He 'alledgedly' admitted to saying "Negrito" in the Uruguayan media but no definitive proof yet. I think he did. Again though, interesting the way everybody just takes it as gospel that he "admitted using the word" even though they don't know where it is he was meant to have said it. Very telling. Cue much googling and linking to dubious new stories on footy websites.
  22. Nothing to do with the title race. he wanted to protect Evra because what this shit storm first kicked off a lot of people where looking at Evra and thinking "he's got previous" (which isn't actually true. No way Fergie was letting Evra come out of it looking bad. he got what he wanted and proved this by speaking to the press sayin he commended the FA and backed their decision. I love the way you put words in my mouth though. When did I ever say it had to do with a title race or even to do with Liverpool as a club?
  23. John Henry is a billionaire as well. I'm not sure he is even a dollar billionaire. I'm fairly certain he's worth less than Randy, though. If Liverpool don't make Champions League next year I think they will soon enough embark on similar restructuring to ourselves - Luis Suarez leaving for a big Italian or Spanish club for starters. Bent out Carroll in (as a permanent signing) would be an interesting piece of business that I would consider. There is not an OUNCE of truth in any of that whatsoever. Henry is only one of several Billionaire owners and companies that make up FSG that own us and the Red Sox. Their hugely successful and profitable and have other rich minority shareholders on board like LeBron James who also throw some money in the bucket. This link makes it very clear who has more money between our lot and Lerner as well as all other owners: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_English_football_club_owners Listen, you hate us, I get it, but lets avoid wishful thinking and outright lies. Jesus Christ you are delusional. LeBron James? Really???? Owning is not the same as throwing millions into endless pots of expenditure. The way you say successful and profitable, and still use the "their" in the beginning is fantastic. They are maybe rich and famous, but owners are always investing money to get x times interest upped with time. Unless they are Man City oil tycoons, and do not signal this instantly, they are nothing but careful investors. If you think billions in worth is going to be invested in players for a shitty club like Liverpool, you must be clutching straws. I hate Liverpool. I loved their previous owners. I hate their fans, I hate their stupid love towards Gerrard and Carragher... and I hate their stupid song which was never intended towards them and I love the fact that they will never, ever be the top team in the Premiership during my lifetime. Bile. Again no truth whatsoever. Like I have already said, our problem isn't money for players, our problem is attracting the players whilst were not in the champs league and having a Manager who will struggle to get us there imo. The fact remains we have more than enough access to capital and this will only increase in coming years as we get back into the champs league and build the new stadium. Why is it so important for people on here to belittle Liverpool in pointless ways like saying were dodgy finacially and we could start going the Lerner way if we don't come 4th when there isn't a shred of evidence to suggest this being the case. Is it coz of worry of us buying Bent? make out we can't afford him as comfort? Its weird, were not Birmingham, we have no relevance to Villa whatsoever so I don;t get it. We've never been rivals or competed, in my life time anyway, for cups or titles or champs league spots etc so I don't see why how much money we have or don't have could matter one iota to a Villa fan. I think its hilarious and I welcome the hatred because it shows were doing something right still and as far for us not winning the title you have no idea what the future holds, none of us do, hell Villa could get taken over by Qataris and win the league within 10 years even I wouldn't say thats not possible.
  24. You know what matey, almost nobody thinks Luis Suarez is racist. Including as it happens The Football Association. Just like I don't think many people believe Ron Atkinson to be racist either. It is however completely unacceptable to use racial language on a football pitch, regardless of the connotations or the mood at the time. It's 2011, two-thousand-****-eleven, why on earth are we still having this debate. If you can't see why people like myself, who previously had no strong feeling either way towards Liverpool FC, are now turning against your pathetic, childish, ignorant stance then I might as well argue with a dish cloth. The statement, the t-shirts, the one eyed "woe is us" attitude. That mong Dalglish. Liverpool FC should hang it's head in shame. I'm actually starting to feel a little bit sorry for Suarez, his name is being tarnished forever because of your sordid little club. This could have gone away a long time ago.... We will support our players and our team and our City till our death and if other clubs and cities wouldn't do the same then I pity them quite frankly. Just because some sham mockery of an independent panel full of Fergie's mates says what Suarez has done is wrong without taking into account any mitigating circumstances whatsoever doe's not prove his guilt to me. If he takes legal action like expected and he loses then I will be satisfied of his guilt. And Evra made a racial remark to Suarez so how come he hasn't been charged? He told the ref he was only booking him becuase he's black basically calling the ref a racist but thats fine? No-one wants to talk about any of that because their prejudiced againt Suarez and had found him guilty before the FA did anything. They were just looking for a stick to beat him with. The same thing happened with Ronaldo when he was over here too.
