  1. He was much better in midfield for Liverpool too. I was friends with Stephen as we went to the same school, so we used to play a lot of footy together and he was always a midfielder, often in centre mid for the school. As he moved up the ranks county, England Schoolboys etc, we always went and watched him and he was still a midfielder. When he got kept at Liverpool professionally he was still playing in midfield but on the left and when Rafa and his team took over their coach who was in charge of the kids and ressies decided that his position was left back (which Ste wasn't very happy about) but he bowed to their supposed greater knowledge and that was that. I often wonder how is career would of panned out if he stuck to midfield?
  2. Spent the last hour readin through this thread and Villa fans thoughts on the matter and him as a man and the one thing that resonates to me as a Liverpool fan is that he sounds like he way your Hodgson. Someone who just didn't get the club or the fans at all. The similarities in what is written here and what was written abou Hodgson back then is so similar its uncanny.
  3. Liverpool's next signing will be one of the reliable people are saying: Joe Allen Lewis Haltby - Schalke Clint Dempsey Made approaches for all three I'm told, but no idea of preferences. I'd be surprised if all 3 were signed. Don't watch German football so no idea about Haltby but if anyone knows anything about him please offer an opinion please.
  4. Hmmm... according to BBC Newcastle have attempted to sign Carroll on loan from Liverpool with a view for a permanent move. I can only imagine then that Newcastle have just came in for him but they hadn't by Friday when I was told about you and West ham. Things can change sharoish though so I'll see if anything comes up but I know Carroll really doesn't want to move and feels he is being forced out and isn't happy about it.
  5. Been told that Villa have officially made their interest in Carroll known to Liverpool and asked to be kept informed of developments. West Ham have done the same. Haven't been told this but I reckon Fulham and Newcastle will also be interested. If Lambert wants him I think you will be favourite to get him, however Carroll doesn't want to leave Liverpool on a permnanent deeal, but would reluctantly accept a loan move for the season. Long way to go on this one and its pretty complicated so don't reckon there will be any movement on this before next week when LFC go to Boston for 2 weeks.
  6. Been told we've asked yourselves, Fulham and West Ham if you would like Carroll on loan or even better to buy him. West Ham seem most interested and asked to loan him. Loaning will involve a loan fee and paying most of his wages (he's on £60,000 pw). LFC defo want rid for at least this season.
  7. I am very cautious about it myself. Worried and excited at the same time. Complete unknown. I would go and ask some Chelsea fans what they think of him but then I remembered Chelsea fans wouldn't know a decent youth player if it smacked them across their faces thanks to the Ambramovich approach.
  8. looks like there is something to the Borini to LFC from Roma rumours: De Marchi (Borini's agent) "Would the player want to go to #LFC? I don't want to commit myself as there will be more news in coming days" Unless he is going to say its bullshit in "the coming days" but if they were going to say that, surely he would of come out and denied it right away raather than give the quote above.
  9. In other news, LFC have made a deal worth about 10m to Roma for Borini. Balls in their court now. No nothing about the player but the highlights I have seen he looks like a poacher type forward and seems to be very mobile and makes good runs. Not done to bad at Roma I'm told and Swansea fan seem to rate him and think he'd fit in with Rodgers system. I am very cautiously optimisitc but he is a bit of an unknown quantity although he is still on 21. Anyone watch Italian footy or remember him from Swansea and got any opinions/info?
  10. Do you believe it now? Or is it coming straight from Brendan Rodgers mouth (and confirming everything I posted as to why we didn't sign Siggy above btw) still not enough proof? http://www.liverpool-kop.com/2012/07/its-his-loss-lfcs-brendan-rodgers.html The interview this came from will be put on YouTube soon if you want to watch it to make sure it happened and deluded LFC fans aren't inventing it. Secondly, I am not some 'wannabee' ITK. I don't go on Twitter or any LFC forums and lawd attention. If I hear the odd bit that is of interest to another club (like when LFC where after Downing last Summer) I pass it on to their fans in good faith and will, as if it was the other way around and an opposition fan got info of interest to LFC fans I would appeciate them passing it on. Trent one of the bosses on this site can back up the credibility of my source as I passed on everything regarding the Downing deal last summer to him which was proven. If you go back in this thread to about the end of May there will be a post from Trent attesting to this. You don't have to believe it as it goes against your agenda, but that still doesn't mean it isn't true, because it is. He done the right thing. If a player you are close to and personally owes a lot to you agrees a deal with you, and then at the last minute asks for more money, why should Rodgers have give him that money? If he did that to me I'd be highly offended! No all that tells you is that Liverpool offered him a similar deal to Swansea. It doesn't tell you anything about our offer at all. It doesn't confirm your guess in the slightest and certainly doesn't support the ludicrous claims that we are paying him £70,000 per week. It doesn't tell you Syg left for money at all. All it really tells you is that Liverpool tried to sign a player on much lower terms than would be the norm and the player rightly felt insulted or under valued. It sounds as if Liverpool made it seem as if they didn't really want him. It's got nothing to do with the offer we made him. If you were offered a job at a company where other people recruited to do the same job with similar experiences were offered far better starting salaries, would you feel as if they really valued you? All this shows is that for some bizzare reason your manager seems to be involved with the financial offers and should be excluded from now on. You are blinded by affection for the club Gylfi signed for and can't be objective about it. The only people who don't think the higher money he was offered by Spurs played a part in his (and his Agents I should add - big factor and same agent as Bales - He is an odious greedy cretin) choosing of which club to sign for, are a very small minority of deluded Spurs fans who sound just as bad as the retards on RAWK (I'm sorry but I hate that site and how it misrepresents the vast majority of LFC fans). Spurs currently having a better team at the moment is just a bonus for him. I don't need to prove my source on this again as BOF said its your deluded problem not mine but I know for a fact and can prove as such that Gylfi was offered at least £40,000 by Spurs. I don't even understand why this is a big deal for Spurs fans to accept? It means NOTHING about either club. Its just a fact of football that 99% of the time a player will go where the money is. Thats nothing new. We beat Spurs to a few signings the last couple of years more than likely just because we offered them considerably more than Spurs did in wages. It's no big deal. Money talks.
  11. I don't know if we are still interested now but I do know that if Dalglish had of stayed Walcott would more than likely a LFC player now, as would Diame.
  12. There is a guy on Twitter who tries to do this if people are interested. His username is @ITK_Watch He's good and its a good laugh. He doesn't follow them all (there's 1000s of the ****) but the ones he finds and shows up are pretty funny, especially when you see the excuses the ITKs come out with to him.
  13. Pacheco was amazing at some U19 International competition a couple of years back. Finished top scorer of the tournament and was just head and shoulders above everyone else there. he done okay during his loan spell at Norwich but wasn't really given a real go. Most of his appearances were from the bench. If he is given a proper chance he'll be a good player. Very skillful and knows here the goal is.
  14. Been told Lambert is looking at Dani Pacheco. If true told LFC would be looking for £1.5-2m for him. Not from my mate who usually tells me stuff who I trust completely, from someone else, but because lambert did take him to Norwich there may be some truth in it so therefore thought I'd pass it on in good faith.

  16. http://www.liverpool-kop.com/2012/07/its-his-loss-lfcs-brendan-rodgers.html Why LFC didn't sign Gylfi straight from Rodgers' mouth.
  17. He has got a much better contract from you than he would of had from us. Fact. I know how much we offered him so from that I'm guessing you lot offered him AT LEAST £35,000-45,000 pw. I had a great source on this all the way through. Go and read my posts on SC. He moved for money but ho can blame him? I don't hold it against him as I'd do exactly the same, fair play. Its so small time though that a very small minority are trying to play this as LFC offered him the same (or BETTER I have read on Twitter) money but he chose us as were the bigger club bollocks, even though there are reporters as clued in as Tony Barrett, Neil Jones and Ben Smith, who are proven to know everything at LFC, and are saying that he was offered a significantly better deal from Spurs. Spurs have a well better team atm, but we are the bigger club. Levy isn't soft. He knew if he didn't significantly beat our wage offer he had no chance of getting him, mainly because of the Rodgers factor. Sigurdsson is very close to Rodgers (more than people realise) and trusts him implicitly with his career and is very sensitive regarding what Manager he has because of what happened at Hoffenheim, so he had to do something big to get him to not choose Rodgers. Kudos to Levy, he's a clever business man I'd love him instead of Ian Ayre. The same source we had through the Gylfi saga also told us that hes certain VDV is off which was another reason that convinced Gylfi to sign (won't sit on bench - one of his worries with us) and why Levy pushed the boat out to get him. We'll have to wait and see if he's right, but with Modric going, if VDV goes as well and Adebayor isn't signed Spurs could be in trouble next season and fighting with LFC just for top 6. If anyone cares LFC offered him £25,000 pw with add ons and future incentives on are new "Performance Related" wage structure. No will get a six figure salary at LFC again unless they earn it first, which is going to make this a difficult Summer of recruitment for LFC.
  18. You should all follow @ITK_Watch coz he keeps a record of all the bullshiting "ITKs" on Twitter and exposes them when they committ Epic Failness. It does actually help realise though who might have genuine contacts and who is a spotty 15 year old desperate for "followers" as a badge of honour and seeking attention constantly. @Agent_ITK is one of the worst on Twitter trust me. Follow that guy above and you'll see how much it is guess work.
  19. If GDS had of gone to Swansea under Rodgers I think a lot of people would of been surprised at how well he'd do. Harry criminally wrote him off and never give him a chance just like with Boateng. I rill reserve judgement on GDS until I see him move clubs and play under a Manager who though his team played some good footy last season, is a complete moron.
  20. Traore cleared a ball of the line at 3-3 so withput Liverpool wouldn't of won the European Cup that night.
  21. You can't take anything from the Roy episode too seriously as it really was an anomaly. It didn't make sense even at the time and he treated us and the club and players with nothing but disrespect. If, for example, Pellegrini or Deschamps were appointed instead (Hodgson was 3rd choice), things would of been much different imo. When I was watching the Villa process of appointing AMc last year on here and other sites it was so like when we were appointing Hodgson it was scary. The way you felt about that is how we felt about the Hodge. We knew his methods and footballing philosophy would not fit with our club nor the players we had then, inparticular Torres. The only people who didn't see this was the three most important people - the board that appointed him. This, plus how he treated the fans, players and club, is why he wasn't given time. There was so little faith in Roy that no matter how long he was given nobody believed he would ever succeed with us. Once that was certain by Xmas there was no point in keeping him. It was the same reasons why Villa fans didn't give AMc much time either, you knew he was totally wrong for the club and would take you backwards. What didn't help was having Dalglishs shadow hanging over him, and the fans knew Kenny had been knocked back for the job too, which made things worse. Then when on top of that, as soon as Roy joined he slags off Dalglish in the media so his cards were marked. He didn't know how to manage big clubs with ambitions and was only good at working with relegation fodder who he could lift into mid-table mediocrity. He was a terrible regressive manager whose ethos and philosophy was the antithesis of everything Liverpool stands for and even the 3 people who appointed him have admitted they got it completely wrong and if they could they would go back and not sack Rafa. That is where everything went wrong. Sacking Rafa was the start of the snowball rolling down the hill. He could of got us through to FSG taking over from the other two cowboys in much better shape, and now with much better owners with more resources, we would still be around 4th or 5th. Certain of it (I know he had initial talks with Villa but nothing came of it which is a shame as I think he would do an amazing job with you). Look at the difference when rafa and Kenny were sacked the majority of fans were horrified and stated they deserved more time and opportunity to turn things around, that it wasn't what Liverpool did ust sacking Managers after one bad season without having a chance to fix things. This was even the case, but less so, with Houllier. The only Manager this didn't happen with was Roy but I don't think because of that, or because FSG couldn't wait to get shot of Dalglish even though most fans wanted him to stay (not me), that LFC fans deserve a reputation of being inpatient and not giving Managers time to work. There is an ever growing divide between match going fans and the wider fan base but I have no idea why this is the case. Our biggest problem as a club since 2004 is that at the top of the club and team there has always been personal infighting and power struggles where the good of the club and its progression plays second fiddle to individuals agendas and vendettas. Hopefully this has finally come to an end (although there are worrying rumours abound to do with our MD Ian Ayre who is rubbish at his job and is only still there as he knows some incriminating info about the FSGs takeover that they don't want getting out into the open).
  22. How was McLeish nice? Because he's not got that nasty, tough edge about him to motivate players. That apparently is the problem with AVB - he was lucky before - he got a decent bunch of players who wanted to play for him. CFC like AVFC have a few overpaid Butlin's holidaymakers in their squad, which unfortunately has become the worst side effect of the money which washes over the PL these days. Lambert as I think we can all tell does not take crappers of anyone. Hence the quote as why Villa wanted him so much "he'll shake things up" Top post. Totally agree with the points and analogy.
  23. So you've seen his contract have you or are you believing the Sun ? I think you'll find that he didn't have a clause saying he could talk to other clubs, hence why hes now on gardening leave until you guys come up with compensation that is acceptable to us. So you've seen his contract have you? No but our CEO said yesterday in an interview that we're still trying to agree compensation and if he had a clause saying he could talk to other clubs, then we wouldnt have been able to refuse him permission to talk to you would we ?? That's why paul and others on our side of this are more than a little pissed off with narich. Your club have not acted well in all this and despite all the talk from your fanbase about the relative sizes of the two clubs, naaaarrrrich have shown themselves to be small time and lacking a bit of class and honour. Shame as I always had a bit of time for the club But harsh that. Were they supposed to make it easy for us? That Redscouse bellend that came on here saying similar about Barry in 2008 was rightly ridiculed for a similar stance. Oh, and welcome Paul! Top post mate. As a Pool fan I remember the vitriol towards us when we were in for Barry, Young and Downing which was completely understandable as we were using our status as a bigger club and attraction back then to try and nick your best player(s). I'd be the same. Some LFC fans acted with no class, humility or dignity when it looked like Barry was coming and used the event as an opportunity to act billy big bollocks coz thier team was the bigger team and was using their standing to try and take Villa's then best players. They were correctly ran out of town for being fools but now I see Villa doing what LFC did in usuing their stature as a big club to take a smaller clubs Manager, and a very small handful of Villa posters mocking and deriding NCFC and their fans in the same way they were chastised by a few LFC fans, which made them angry and rightly so. Utter hypocrisy and we'll see how these posters react if a bigger club comes in for one of their players or maybe their Manager in the future and will remind them of this thread. It was only a small handful of people though and the majority of Villa fans have acted with class, humility and dignity. I get the feeling the replies to this post will only prove my point further.
