Just gonna' throw this out there, ambitiously and traditionally..

This thread is about to be full of Paul Lambert wannabes. I want to break that mold a bit: We looked good. Not great, but good. KMac put out a poor looking team, set them up well and we look the better side for most of the game. Same old Villa, we went behind and lost the plot. For me though, the signs of optimism were there. A new manager can come in and only has to fight until Christmas for points. In January, we need a new striker. If we had a decent striker on the field today, I think we would have gone ahead in the first half and it would be a different game. Yes it's another loss, but not in our most important competition, with a caretaker manager, and we looked better than I've seen us in weeks. The optimism, at least for me, is back. The beer is also good.

At least we won't do a Bluenose and get relegated with the league cup. Thank God, eh?

I really hope he does give some of the home grown/youth a shot tonight and mix it up a little bit. We may/probably will get knocked out but it'll be good to see some of the youth and some tactics finally.

It's quite nice not having loads of leaks to the media. When we hired Tim Sherwood, I remember it being known days before it happened and it was just a matter of the club confirming it. Now, it's nice that we seem to have a shortlist at least and are approaching a few people. I hope we're all happy with the end result.

The more I read, the more excited I get about RG. I really hope this is a corner we're turning and he turns into our 'special' one. We need someone in for a long period that we get behind. Not just another PL manager but a recognisable Aston Villa manager. I hope this is it.
