It's everyone elses fault but Ireland's it seems. With that comment to a bang on post, you don't understand the technical aspect of the game you're commenting on, it seems.

People seem to be forgetting that our formation is 4-2-3-1 not really 4-3-3. Bent can only play as a lone front man. Having two sitting DM's gives the smaller craftier players like Ireland, Bannan and Alby licence to create for our lone ranger. Heskey isn't right, N'zogs is struggling to settle, Gabby has done okay but wouldn't work in a technically skilled three. Oh, and it's nice to see someone has their crystal ball out to say Ireland won't ever come good for us...

I was screaming at Gabby to flick/lob the ball through to Ireland in the build up to our second goal, but Gabby just didn't see it. We scored anyway so happy days. If Ireland had been playing for a top 4 club, that ball would have came and he's through to bury it. There lies the problem we have, he's on a higher wave length. I believe the only other player on the pitch that could've picked him out is Bannan. I would like to see Jenas and Petrov holding, with the attacking trio of Bannan, Ireland and maybe Albrighton feeding Bent up top. Bent would get soooooo much more service.

That unfortunately, is not the only problem with Stephen Ireland. The fact that we are hinging our hopes of success on this man shows what a sorry state the club is in. He only shone brightest in a team including Elano & Robinho, but what's that worth aye...

Makoun has great vision and is an immaculate passer of the ball most of the time, if you don't see that you must be one of the guys that also groans if the ball goes backwards 5 yards, who annoy the hell out of me. Hopefully we'll have someone on Irelands wavelength this year.

We're not really playing to Ireland's strengths yet. Although we are playing a more expansive game than under MON, it's still not to the level of pass and move that would get the best out of him. I haven't seen any of tonight's game to comment, but in the Chelsea/Sunderland games he was coming short to try and receive from Young, but getting frustrated as Young cut back in or out and tried to cross. There's only so many times you can make yourself available, only to be ignored. It will come though, once they get an understanding they'll be scary.

Before Nike cam along our kits had been dire and downright embarassing. They now actually have a fit to them rather than us wearing a sail, and the design is way better too. Nike all the way, although Adidas are a close second. Their one downside is that every Adidas wearing team are effectively donning the same kit - just in different colours.

I watched him in that tournament in the summer and i've gotta say he looked nothing special. He turned like the Titanic. Technically he's nowhere near Albrighton.

I didn't know the Villa team where entering the Tour de France.. I would love this as an away top!!!!!
