  1. Thanks S-Platt. Gerrard has been one of my favourite players since the 2005 Champions League final and he did the business once again.

  3. If Aston Villa fail to score on Sunday they will equal their longest run of matches without a goal in Premier League history.
  4. The Madrid derby this weekend! If Real win this they should win the league especially as they host the next Classico. I expect Atletico to play ultra defensively and aim for a 1-0 win.
  5. When I was reading the first page I didn't look at the dates, found it amusing. It seems like most people that don't rate him is because he tends not to dribble so it is not as good watching from the the armchair from what I can understand. Technically one of the best players in the world but it is his off the ball movement that needs to be watched. To play on the same team as him means you have to work harder defensively although he will win the game for you with one or two moments of brilliance.
  6. Norwich, Fulham and Hull wins at home will keep Villa up combined with a draw at Palace and Swansea. Palace have a bad run in when you look at home and away fixtures... if those were reversed I would worry for Villa but as things stand I would put Palace big favourites to come 18th.
  7. The problem is Villa have one style of play and opponents know what to expect and can arrive with a perfect gameplan for 90 minutes. One or two super sub type players are needed just as badly as 2 or 3 first team players.
  8. 7 goals in 22 league games with a reasonable supply is not good enough when the team is basically built around him. Possibly he has not completely shaken off his hip and knee injuries. There is also the possibility that he is protecting himself more in a World Cup year. One to look for if he is pulling out of tackles.
  9. Failed to score in 12 league games this season which could be a problem that Villa tend to leave it late to get started and can have to play from behind and face a team whose main focus is defense.
  10. If you are interested Villa have scored 25.9% of their goals from 75 minutes on in the league. Villa have also scored 25.9% of their goals in minutes 60-75. Villa have scored 15 second half goals versus 12 first half goals. If the game ended at 45 minutes Villa would have 29 points - the same number as if only the second half was played. Can't argue with the stats.
  11. 40 points won't be needed this season. Fulham and Cardiff are going down and I don't think Palace's defense will keep them out of trouble either but if they do it will be Norwich to take the plunge. Apart from the Swansea fixture Villa have the right home and away fixtures to make sure they stay out of trouble.
  12. Hello folks, I'm Keith, from Dublin and have been reading this forum for a while now and the information I get about the tactics and strategy for the upcoming games is better than any news source. At this stage I would like to start posting and participate on the forum as there is a good community of people here. I'm a Liverpool supporter but enjoy discussing all the premier league games and can bring a different perspective to a conversation.
