  1. One of this biggest mistakes to is over arching thr back, this is just as bad as rounding the low back...it comes from geared lifting & for some reason has become part of raw lifting.

    keep your spine neutral.

Davkaus, please watch youtube for squats in order to get the proper technique starting off.  You never lean forward at any time during squats, otherwise the power is coming through your knees on your way back up, and that will end badly.  If anything the weight is on your heels so that the power comes from your thighs and glutes in order to straighten back up*.  The first sign that your form is going to pot on a squat is when you don't go down far enough (below perpendicular), but the second sign is having a tendency to lean forward.  The former will mean you are not getting the full benefit of the squat but the latter will injure you in the mid to long term particularly once the weight starts to go up.  Get the form correct now and you'll be good to go.

And just to echo Stevo.  Everyone starts somewhere.  It does get easier and 99% of people in the gym will be willing to help if needed.  Just try to ask the ones that know what they're doing :) (not always the trainer fwiw ;))

Mark Rippetoe - Intro to the squat

    * The analogy used by my trainer at the start was it's as if you wanted to sit straight down onto a low bar stool.

You can't really go wrong with Starting strength when learning how to press/bench/deadlift/squat.

I personally find pushing "out" with my feet engages my glutes more than "sitting back" but this has come from lots of trail & error. You'll find a grove of your own on the main lifts but starting strength is the best starting point of learning. Chris Duffin has a great squat video where he talks about screwing the feet into the floor & imaging your feet as "talons", I always found my front half of my foot coming up when I sat back.

Went on the store yesterday and picked up a couple of games from the Easter Sale. Dragon Age: Inquisition (14.99) and Borderlands 2: Handsome Collection. (£19.99)

Should keep me busy for a while.

I bought mad max & assassins creed syndicate (physical copies), haven't played them yet but the handsome collections tempting me at £20, it's been a while since I fired a gun in a game.

I like Angry Joe a lot. I feel his reviews are really well balanced and can be quite comical. Though, the 5/10 seems a bit harsh to be honest. I kinda feel like if you rush through this game and put 40 hours into it in 1 week then it will ruin the experience. If you just play it an hour here or there then you feel happier with it. I'm still only a level 10!!!

But he's right in all he has to say & the dark zone is utter garbage. Where he points out the penalty for dying in there is just plain ridiculous.  I love the bobble hat bit at the start it had me crying!

im still of the opinion that the dark zone was meant to be the whole map/what the game was built round, at least the idea/interaction of it & eventually they just came to realise it just simply didn't work...or rather they couldn't get it to. The trailers promised so much yet again we get a fraction of what most people were made to believe.

I've made my money back anyway selling mine on eBay.

I've become interested in Napoleon but I've no idea where to start learning. Anyone know any good books (fiction and non-fiction), films, TV shows and documentaries about both Napoleon and the Napoleonic wars?

    I'll ask the wife she's a History teacher :)

  6. Along with the Wii,Kinect,Ps move & 3D tv's eventually it'll go down the same road...people won't  be arsed with it. While I appreciate they need to push for new products & ideas people simply want to sit with a controller & play. It's been that way for so long it'll be hard to break that type of gaming. Just my opinion.

Personally I haven't even bothered reading much about them because I won't be able to use one anyway.

i did try looking at IGNs reviews this morning but my work web filter blocked it for "hate"

    :D

I skipped to the end score of their reviews on about six of the episodes & I didn't see one below a 8.5 I don't think. One had a 10!

Have one to go on season 1, taken me ages to get through it for some reason.

I notice a few paintings of birds on rocks or cliff walls around the place. What do they signify?

There's a few paintings that will give a clue to a location of hunter cahces, you'll know if it's one as there will be a red hand print in the hunter vision when you look at it. Only found/seen two so far in 30 hours play.

After a week off playing Division I'm happy to be back on this, wasted a week of time on that garbage. Get side tracked so much on this but I'm clearing everything I can, only just got Dah & the blood fang Sabre. Love the game!

Misleading article, 25 million aren't playing the game for 3 hours a day. If it did it would be absolutely crushing every other game going, including the likes of LoL. 25 million have played the game and of the still active players they average around 3 hours game time a day. I'd be pretty surprised to see that figure any higher than Battlefront, Destiny had a huge drop in population after the first few weeks because of the nature of the game.

As I said twice, 3m a day averaging 3 hours play is seemingly it's baseline thee days . If I can find the article I'll post it but can't remember where I found it.

It's common knowledge BF was pretty average & while Destiny had above average reviews I'm willing to bet it's still way above BF in terms of player base. While Destiny had/has its teething problems Bungie do tweak it & what not. For what it's worth I don't play either of them anymore. BF lasted about a week & after 4 months of hammering Destiny I stopped playing it, in fact it turned me off any multiplayer game full stop (besides Halo) ever since.

I know, but I already go out on a Wednesday and I really miss the nipper so going out another night probably isn't on my radar at the minute.

His **** nursery nurses see him more than me :(

Have you thought about maybe getting a weight vest? They're a great way of getting in some conditioning...you could easily be out for a nice walk with the little one/pushing the buggy on weekend mornings. It's one of my conditioning options & when my missus drops in October I'll be using it more so then.

Seen one by RDX on eBay for £43. Weight is like 10kg-18kg (I think so you can start light)& it's something you do while walking for distance. Atm I walk 2 miles with 20kg, hope this helps :)

  11. What platform are you guys playing on? I'm debating PS4/XBOX ONE. I know ps has cross platform Match making so opens up the pool of games more but doesn't the X1 version come with all the Dlc to date?

I got half way through the pilot episode of DC Legends and couldn't carry on. As you say it was terrible. DC LOT seemed way to hammy for my liking, I ususally like to give tv series a few episodes before writing them off, but I just couldn't do it this time.

I've fallen asleep on both episodes go far...says it all haha

That's not really fair, Destiny averaged 3 million unique players online through a 24 hour period in its launch week. That includes people who played the game for 14 hours, and people who installed the disc and didn't get past the splash screen.

I was talking post launch, up to Novemeber 2015 the one article I read had the game at 26 million a day with an average of 3 hours play.

Reguardles 1000,000 players is a terrible amount of daily players.

Atm im at 125kg bench 160 squat and 180 dead. I reckon i can push for 130 bench maybe a 170 squat and 190 dead

Not saying i will get those though, always good to set the target high

Actually you may find setting only slight higher targets better. You want to take your deadlift from 180-190...well first you need to deadlift 182.5 & so on. But having a goal & not just aimlessly going through the motions is good motivation!

i remember when I thought 150kg on deadlift was out of reach, 4 years on at my last meet I pulled 255kg, good to have goals set.

Good luck man, maybe it'll give you the push to train for a proper meet!

Not competing at all this year myself in the fed I lift in. Haven't been able to lift consistently due to some medical stuff & the wife is expecting our first :)

Ive agreed to do a comeptition at my gym, no massive strongman type event. Its just bench dead squat to give your max total.

Its at the end of this month so im training purely for those lifts until then

Then I'd really advise looking at a peaking program. Maybe to late now mind with it being end of month.
