In relation to the game against Bolton we all know the follow facts:

    1. Bolton is a league 1 side

    2. We scored a penalty

    3. We scored directly from a free kick

    4. We went 1-0 down

    5. We won the game 4-1

If we want to discuss Gerrard's approach to the game etc then great, this is the appropriate place to do so. Posting comments regurgitating the same facts with an attempt of a swipe at Gerrard ruins the thread and is childish. Maybe the mods could open an u12s section on VT if this is really want people want to do

Agreed. No way has it gone up that much.

Something that I reckon would bring the whole forum together in their opinion of the manager would be finding out he's on £1.5m a week!

Would also like to know, especially what part of the wage bill is men’s first team players (not admin and others) since that is what counts according to Swiss Ramble.

I’ve seen wage bill estimates of around 170m for 2023 and player amortisation of around 70m, and turnover estimates of 160-170m. Unless players are sold for big money, that would take us very far from the new percentage limits (90% eventually decreasing to 70%). We would be around 140%?

I don't see how our wage bill could be £170m. If it is we have been giving out insane contracts.

I might take a look at this, I love the F1 and I love Football Manager so this could be a must buy for me.

I'll take a look at that video later, it all depends on how much it is going to cost of course, if it is going to be a £60 effort then there is no chance.

If it's rubbish try Motorsport Manager with one of the excellent mods that add real names/teams and features that add a lot of play time. I think the biggest ones are called Fire/Ice and I believe they are regularly updated.

Just don't expect the same impressive level of graphics if you do.

This forum gets better, Bailey has gone from looking like he was pulling a cart horse to build a team around the guy in 5 games.

"This forum" is made up of people with differing opinions. Plenty have backed him to come good his whole time here.

I'm not a big fam of Souness, but I heard him say the comment about men playing like men in a mans football game and just knew it would upset the twitter lot. Then I thought, "never mind twitter, what about the PC VT lads'. An here you are. 😂

Funny Carney has not even mentioned it to be a issue, but Eniola Aluko has, but unfortunately no one listens to her.

Karen Carney's face when he said it made her opinion quite clear. She's probably not said anything as she gets so much abuse just from commentating on a game. In fact I think she deleted her Twitter because of all the abuse she gets - I may be mistaken, but weren't you recently suggesting this is a sensible thing for famous people to do?

Can't say I thought much of it though. Just another tired cliché from a shite pundit.

Fell asleep twice trying to watch this, may wait until all 10 episodes are out then watch it all at once.

It took me a while to get into the original GOT so not writing this off just yet.

I don't have the patience to wait a week for anything nowadays. I think the only show I've done it for in years was Severance as I made the mistake of watching the first couple and got hooked.

Had a job interview at 1pm, offered the job at 3pm. Excellent news. A secondment, much needed as so bored and unmotivated in my current role. Slightly annoyed I was a bit unambitious, as I went for a band 4 role and found out a newer colleague had gone for the band 5 and got it. I hadn't bothered as I kept getting nope "someone has more experience" for the past few band 5 interviews I've had. Still, that'll teach me.

In my experience civil service(?) secondments are far more likely to promote someone than being able to move up the ladder internally. I know a few people who did it and ended up getting long overdue promotions in their own department when they returned.

Sorry VT. Better avenues for counselling on this subject.

No idea what you wrote, but I'd trust VT to give some detailed balanced advice to sincere questions than most other sources.

Rosie Jones, Comedian.  Firstly, I actually don’t find her very funny at all either doing stand up or whatever show she’s on.  However, I’ve no issue with anyone who likes her comedy, jokes or whatever.

What’s annoying is when people on a show she’s on or an audience almost fall over laughing hysterically every time she speaks?  It’s as though because of her disability, some people feel the need to over compensate.  It’s ok not to laugh at everything she says.

This seems to be the case with most shows that have comedians on as regular guests. I find pretty much anything Jimmy Carr hosts unwatchable as he squeezes out fake laugh after fake laugh.

  11. I don't have a problem with changes such as having a more diverse cast so there is a greater pool of acting talent to choose from, or omitting some of Tolkien's more boring rambling detours*. As long as there aren't changes for the sake of it a la the apparent character changes in The Watch.

*I did not miss Tom Bombadil in the movies.

Haha, just read it. Infrastructure and yourh academy now included into FFP calculations 🤦‍♂️

So our stadium expansion will limit our transfer activity once this comes into force.

And obviously we can never compete against the big 6 ever again now because of the revenue difference.

Basically forces us to borrow money for work on the stadium and balance the repayments with increased revenue. I'm struggling to see how more borrowing benefits a clubs long term future.

I read a theory that a reason Villa are so keen on loaning out players could potentially be FFP. Since player values are amortized yearly, waiting longer to sell them actually makes it easier to show a profit with regards to FFP.

Example: Buy a player on 4-year contract for a fee of 20m. Let’s say his value drops to 10m the following year. His book value would be 15m after one year so selling him for 10m would result in a 5m loss.

If he’s loaned out a year his book value goes down to 10m, and if the club then sells him for 10m there’s no loss in the books. Loaning him yet another year and then sell for 10m would mean a 5m profit for FFP.

In that example we'd be writing down their value £5m a year anyway so there would be the same transfer loss selling them in year 2 for £10m as keeping them, plus the cost of their wages. It could make sense if they want to absorb losses while the Grealish sale still counts towards the calculations.

Nah, I've stuck up for Stevie since his appointment, cos that's what you do with a manager. If it turns out he's rubbish, I'll support the new manager, because that's what you do (clue is in the word supporter). I'm not taking any 'I told you so' shit from people who wrote him off before a ball was kicked, no chance. Legitimate concerns leading to a withdrawal of support based on results, sure, but I'm not abiding any guff from those who had a premeditated agenda. They can do one.

    You seem to misunderstand.

hippo always says he hated Gerrard and wants him to fail. Obviously this is unreasonable.

Quite a few others pointed out warning signs in our play, that we haven't improved and seem to have no clear style. They were shouted down, mocked and told they were being doom mongers. Those people were right, whether or not you want to listen to an 'I told you so'.

It's OK to just be wrong sometimes.

Has the smug we told you so ridiculing of those that ‘supported’ our manager not ended yet?

Supporting the manager doesn't necessitate shouting down or mocking the opinions of people with concerns on a daily basis. It's not that surprising people with those opinions may feel vindicated, even if they are going through the same misery watching us be shit as everyone else, albeit they spotted the signs earlier.

Considering how often you seem to want to instigate the arguments again, it's unlikely to ever die.

When stats are getting to Mcleish and Sherwood levels of bad you know it's heading downwards.

Funnily enough I don't remember anyone wanting Mcleish or Sherwood to be given more time.

They must have been for Mcleish as I think Celtic had a higher wage bill when he won the league.

Not a bad first ep. It's basically set up and introducing the new characters which is what it should be.

It will never reach the heights of the OG show even thou I'm sure they will supersize it and be bombastic as all h. And as always with these prequels you already know (I've no clue as I've not read the books or payed enough attention to the lore) where the big characters will end up.

    Solid start thou.

I've read A Song of Ice & Fire and Fire & Blood, but still can't remember what happens. There are a hell of a lot of similar names floating around in the books and I read too much to retain everything for that long. Maybe when I watch the show my memory will be refreshed.

Levy most definitely isn't Tottenhams owner.

Levy owns 30% of ENIC, which gives him a far higher share in Tottenham than the token number I suspect Purslow has for us. I think it's fair to define him as "an" owner. But yeah, Joe Lewis owns twice as much.
