Noni Madueke got MOTM. He's a player who often looks impressive but has no end product, just like last night.

The official England you tube channel has highlights but they are not up yet. You could also try uefa.tv which is where the stream was shown.

To be fair to him, I'm pretty sure Archer and Ramsey each missed relatively easy chances that Madueke set up with solo runs taking on several players in the box.

All bar 4 teams(Man U, Fulham, Saints, Pool) last weekend of PL had left footed CB on left of back 4 or left or central in back 3. Why so popular if doesn't matter that much?

    You've missed a few teams.

Villareal themselves have reported to only expect 30 - 40m for him due to him being in the last year of his deal.

Have they? Seems like an unusual move.

Wouldn't be a huge surprise with Bohly would it.

I love Emi but if we got, say, 70m and could go out and get Bono for, say 40m which puts 30m in the pot for signings and meant we could afford Goncalves and Williams (as an example) would people be upset?

No thanks to Bono. I'm not a big fan of his music and I can't see him being much better at football.

Nervous about this appointment, we had such a steady hand in Purslow, yes he has made mistakes, who doesn't, but overall Purslow has been good for us steering us from the Championship to European football in 5 years. I know Monchi is a god like figure at Sevilla, but he was a car crash at Roma. The only comforting thing is that he has Emery by his side now so 🤞 nothing to worry about.

They don't do remotely similar jobs.

I know it might sound stupid.....but do players on occasions, apply to football clubs to play for them, like managers apply for jobs?

do they sound us out, like we sound them out?

It would be quite nifty, if they did.

Almost certainly, or they will be soon enough. I watched a clip of Ben Fosters podcast on YouTube the other day with a guy on talking about how De Bruyne hired a stats company to help negotiate his most recent contract incentives.

They carried on to talk about it only being a matter of time before agents have statistical profiles on all of their players and start to approach clubs with data showing how they can fit in the respective systems.

PL standards :D. Ok for murderous regimes to own clubs, and for state backed teams to commit fraud, but some ground isn't 'PL standard'!

To be fair I think there are minimum stadium standards, so I'm not sure the comment was based on snobbery.

I could well be wrong though. I thought under pitch heating was a requirement as I remember Craven Cottage didn't have it at one point, but Google suggests I'm wrong on that one.

Luton just got 170m for getting promoted.

I'm sure they can part ways with 12m considering he's a solid player for them and crowd favourite.

If whoever is running the club has any sense they will be ploughing most of it into infrastructure.

He’s not the owner, I think that’s ENIC and a bloke called Lewis, who is a hands off owner, so yeah the situation is not comparable to ours with CP and NSWE. I’m struggling to understand why this whole discussion is so polarised and extreme. The two people who own 99% of Villa clearly have the biggest control. They employed CP to be CEO. He has a nominal shareholding and as CEO a place on the board. He’s worked hard and generally got a lot right and been part of the impressive growth of the club. He hasn’t got everything right and nor could he, or anyone, be expected to. People voicing their thoughts on what’s gone well or badly needn’t be a call to extremes. Someone asks “tell me what you think he’s got wrong”. Some others reply with their opinions. That’s all we’re doing. It’s not anything other than different people with different opinions and different attributions as to who has a role in what. None of us are on the inside, none of us has a monopoly on informed analysis. Chill out.

Levy owns in the region of 30% of ENIC, so he does hold a significant chunk of Tottenham.

so this is where we disagree. i think the owners entrust purslow and his team to take care of the footballing decisions. he's been in the game a long time and has probably forgotten more about football than nas and wes know. so i don't think they have 'wishes' per se that purslow then goes off to do...they will have metrics/KPIs that are agreed and it's down to purslow to ensure those are met. where the club is failing to meet these objectives, the board (including purslow) will collectively decide on how to turn things around which may or may not include a managerial change.

when i say 'over his head' i dont mean in the literal org chart sense, i meant in the sense that they did his job for him by sacking SG, which a number of people have suggested

He really hasn't been in the game that long. About a year as CEO at Liverpool, less than a year staying on as an advisor then a few years at Chelsea as head of commercial before joining us.

As far as the 'football people', I can point you to a fair number of vastly experienced football administrators who have ruined one or more clubs through their terrible decision making.

People are not getting the economics of this. There's no way he can be sold in summer. It's a Loan or we keep him around

Probably not, but he will cost us another £6m in wages next year, so we'd only need to sell for £7m plus to break even in FFP terms. Obviously if they feel he needs replacing in the squad the wages for any replacement make it less viable.

The relevance was to that tweet, that people think it's the worse thing in the world and deeply concerning that protesters would be arrested or asked to move on, when trying to disrupt or gain attention in what is one of the most significant events in our living history.

Ok, I get where you're coming from. I'm pretty sure no one actually thinks that though.

No my point is, give it a f**** rest for 1 day of the century pleeeeese!

I understood your point on that part of it as I'm apathetic to the whole thing too. That doesn't mean people who feel strongly opposed shouldn't retain a right to peaceful protest.

I really don't get the relevance of the possibility to get killed/tortured by behaving similarly in other countries though.  The only reason I can think of to mention it is to minimise the significance of police arresting peaceful protestors and those that have simply planned to protest.

They would be shot or tortured in many other countries.

I'm not a huge fan of this ceremony at all, but let's just keep them out the way for 1 day of the bloody century and let the people enjoy it. If you don't agree with it, or not interested don't turn up there or watch it on TV.

Is your point that as long as we're not killing and torturing peaceful protestors we should give ourselves a big pat on the back for not being as bad as 'the other guy' and turn a blind eye to any lesser action?

I think our main priorities in the summer should be the CVO and DR positions.

If we get the Corrupt VAR Official and Dirty Referee positions right I think we’ll be a proper team next season

What on earth is a CVO?

...OK, yeah, I should probably work on my attention span.
