Reckon someone was having a laugh with that arrival time?

It's 2 hours in front of uk time and is a 4 hour flight so would be accurate

    Surely not.

I guess it depends how old that ' report' is ? If it were 7 days ago then we were in a better place for such craziness. Or if there was a pinch of truth in the laporte interest then swapping a 4th choice cb for a 1st choice left back on far less wages for a season may have afforded laporte ?

That's the problem with made up or vague reports, there's always a way you can rationalise it with some creative thinking 🤣

    Do we move on?

€15 million is what has been reported they want  with our offer of €4 million plus 2 million in add ons rejected.

Some other report of us loaning Carlos to them plus €4 million for acuna.

Would guess €8 to 10 million should be enough ?

  4. Our defence is the thing that needs the most work. Do you change it round and have konsa at right back, Carlos and pau with digne on the left ?

Or try not to change too much and just have pau at lcb and keep konsa and cash in their regular place ?

Or drop konsa and go Carlos and pau ?

Also depends if we are actually shipping digne out for decent money, do we risk him being injured ( he's made of paper anyway) ?

We then have Chambers who can fill in at cb or right back.

Midfield we need to put mcginn back on the right, doug and kamara with teilmans taking up the emi b spot

    Leaving diaby and watkins

We need to get back to being robust, we have good enough players to score goals, we need to be water tight at the back so the extra midfield protection should help the defence out while a new back 4 is sorted.

You got off lucky, I got a hundred replies and labelled sexist when I expressed a similar view…

🤣🤣 not sure why ? It seems that under no circumstances can womans version of football can be criticised by the media.

It seems yet another thing being artificially pushed by the media as  comparable to the men's version.

It's not and never will be.

Two league games, two clean sheets. And an important 1 on 1 save in the dying minutes from the opposing striker clean through on goal.

For Villa fans wanting a look, on Tuesday on Sky - Portsmouth v Exeter.

Was a good save, watched most of the game and rankine was pretty much useless. Sweeney was reliable and some decent play and Caroll is showing his class.

Need a rowbottom Stockleigh or Reid type forward, someone who knows how to score

    For depth

30 million is what they want for him plus 225k wages or something like that.

Laporte would be better, if the plan was to get a replacement for mings would rather him than maguire for same sorts of money.

Would rather get a solid quality right back, zaniolo and another quality physical player as we just looked powder puff yesterday.

Oh you mean it was upgraded from €3m to €5m initial loan fee and now outright €27m future fee rather than the €20m + €7m add-ons that it was last week. Sorry, that makes sense now.

That tweet has the old numbers, the newest as in last night/ today rumour is upgraded figures

Over at Hürriyet, they state the Turkish champions have rejected Aston Villa’s €30m package This has seen Unai Emery’s side make an improved proposal that includes a €5m loan fee with a option to buy set at €27m.

It’s stated Galatasaray are ‘evaluating the new offer’ made by Aston Villa but are not keen since it doesn’t include a mandatory purchase option.

Meanwhile, Calciomercato.it state the player ‘immediately said yes’ to the English club and the two parties are working to sort out the personal terms. It’s down to Aston Villa to agree a deal with Galatasaray for the transfer to take shape

This was quoted a few days ago in the Zaniolo thread.

Yep, newest rumours are the loan fee has been upped to 5 million € and a straight out fee if we buy of 27m € this would tie in with the release clause numbers

Totally agree about what they are likely to do in future years. I just mean to get to this point they haven’t had to take the piss financially as much as I thought they would need to.

I was expecting some ridiculous signings like Mbappe and Bellingham but, for now, they’ve not done that.

Eddie Howe deserves a lot of credit for that.

I rate Howe, but Newcastle is their PR for the Arabs, look how honest and sporting we are.

Chelsea is being used as a smoke screen to divert what Newcastle are doing. Start with the shirt sleeve sponsor being 5 times the amount, that then gives a very thin legitimacy for 4x the shirt sponsorship a year later, which gives legitimacy for even bigger self sponsorship. By having that cheat money enabled signings they couldn't afford which got them 4th which then gets them more money to spend.

That in itself is letting them double what they can spend, so just buying in 2 x 60 million players each window would never be something they could do without the self sponsoring.

It's like man city now claiming their 5 year net spend 🤣🤣

10 years of what Newcastle are doing to get to that point where they can sell off players purchased to cover 70% of incoming players.

  11. Played out of position and was in no man's land until after half time when the damage had been done and the reality of mings injury set in.

A few of our players reverted to their bad old ways, mcginn trying Hollywood balls several times and none successful as he tried to force the game. Was a poor performance and you could see on his face how upset he was when he came off.

Don't like his comment which almost blames torres for the result after mings went off.

We should have set up robust from the start instead of trying to accommodate Bailey and diaby.

Mcginn in his regular position would have meant cash not getting so exposed and on a yellow.

Against physically weaker opposition 2 wingers/ wide forwards may work but we lost the battle as we had a far physically weaker midfield yesterday.

If we don't have a wide player who can produce other than diaby then don't try using 2 at ghe same time in tougher games.

  12. Watched quite a few of these world Cup games. The standard of play is pretty poor, the occasional great bit of skill but bearing in mind these are meant to be the world's best players, exeter city, in division 1 would play any of these teams off the park.

Hearing usa female team demanding same wage as their male counterparts is laughable. They generated 2.5 million and expect 6 million in pay because that's what the mens team got in their world Cup.

It's a different grade of sport.

England have managed to get through, good on them, I have an interest in all England teams or sports people but the lack of criticism of the standard of play or terrible play from the commentators when players are horrendous is mystifying.

If someone's playing appallingly or not doing what they should in the men's game, it gets said. Seems people are scared to criticise anything in the woman version of football.

But they could be taking the piss so much more. Chelsea have spent more than £750m in a year and don’t look like stopping any time soon.

They are both owned by the same people.

Chelsea is more trendy and glamorous and flashy so gets publicly lavished with money however the PR side is Newcastle so it will be less obviously done.

while not looking like its taking the piss compared to Chelsea, increasing sponsorship revenue just on the shirt by close to 30 million per season by sponsoring themselves.

And that's most likely the tip of a cheating iceberg

It will be sponsor stadium next for crazy money, again by themselves, and training ground again by themselves.

Premier league won't care as no doubt they will get whistle or headphone sponsorship for the officials for 10 million per season as a good will gesture by chelsea/ newcastles owner

I’m surprised at how Newcastle appear to given a shit about FFP to be fair.

Howe is doing a very good  job and I’ve not seen anything so far that suggests they’re taking the piss like Chelsea.

I’m sure it will happen at some point but this current Newcastle team is very good and would seem to be more or less following the financial guidelines.

Haven't they just been sponsored by themselves for 4 times their last sponsorship ?

  15. Just down to numbers, I think by Monday an agreement will be made

Over at Hürriyet, they state the Turkish champions have rejected Aston Villa’s €30m package This has seen Unai Emery’s side make an improved proposal that includes a €5m loan fee with a option to buy set at €27m.

  16. Any first team targets we have, we may possibly need to go down the loan to buy route to comply with FFP.

I think we are all in agreement that a starting right back is required

A starting winger / inside forward is required

    That doesn't include a striker

Unless we can ship out 2 or 3 of our squad for decent money such as donk, Chambers, bailey, big phil then the reported zaniolo transfer arrangement may have to be used for anyone incoming.

Yeah I wonder why that was. Almost like every time he received the ball they swarmed him with 3 players because they were shitting themselves about him getting in a 1 on 1 situation with burn.

    They really weren't.

I think it was the first 25 minutes in where I thought about posting he needs to come off. I didnt because i was trying to be optimistic but by then he had managed to break up attacking moves for us, didn't offer any protection for cash so they just kept playing down our right, fell over multiple times giving the ball away and made us look weak.

He should not have started and that's on emery.

As for the argument we conceded 3 in the second without him ?

You mean after all the players had been informed mings was now going to hospital because the injury is worse than emi b s?

Everyone was effected clearly by that, hence the huge drop off in performance by the entire team.

bailey didnt drop off, that would imply he, at some stage of the game, was good. He wasnt, hence a large amount of people wanting him off at half time.

Bailey has for some time become a FFS player, the ball goes to him, he messes up and you auto have in your head 'FFS bailey' . He does nothing positive for at least 75% of the time it goes to him and just as the passing stats for yesterday show you, he can't even pass it to his own team mates let alone beat his man, basic traits of his position.

Hes like a worse trez. At least trez put in the effort of closing players down or pressuring the opposition defence.

  18. Another who had a shocker

Didn't help that 1st half Bailey was in front of him doing little to nothing so was hung out to dry and by half time he was on a yellow card or if not was 1 mild foul away from 1.

Then he panics, tries to get forward but cuts back every time, can't get back as trying to push forwards and can't tackle because he's on a yellow.

At fault for 1st and 4th ?  goals due to poor awareness and positioning.

He can look really good, normally when mcginn is in front of him, he looks really bad when left to mark 2 players. Something young would normally sort out but we let him go and didn't replace.
