One or 2 in the squad have raised an eyebrow, though a few were injured ? But there they are, on the team sheet.
Hopefully whoever plays does the business and we take the 3 points

let's just give them what they want and get this sorted. seems our sporting director has been a cheeky Monchi with this one, contacted the players agent 3 days before a final, offered €5m, then €7m when he must have known the club wanted more...
I thought Saville were in big debt and needed to sell their highest paid players ?
A quick 10 mill and a player off their wages should help, bearing in mind he's now 30 ish and not considered to be one of the very best left backs in the world ?

Fk knows what happened there ?
Their story claimed that the 25-year-old is expected to sign the contract ‘by 4pm’ (3pm in England), and will arrive from Galatasaray on a loan with a right for redemption.
Zaniolo is in Birmingham with his father and his staff, ready to complete the move.
Meanwhile, CalcioMercato.it journalist Alessio Alento also confirms the move, and brings more details about it.
According to him, the documents were signed ‘a few minutes ago’. Aston Villa are reportedly spending €3.5m on the loan, and will have a right to buy the player for €20m.
Given his previous knee issues, it would be no surprise if there were at least slight concerns over the situation. It’s quite possible Aston Villa secured last minute concessions from Galatasaray.

Various places saying villa was to renegotiate the deal due to injury concerns.
This one's become very frustrating. Other places saying Acuna should be signing for us today or tomoz.
What would normally be exciting and entertaining is becoming frustrating due to our current injury list.

Yeah but if you don't have kids, who do you send to the shops to buy your fags?
Luckily, your Mrs will have more time on her hands, once she's opened your beer she can nip down the shops for your fags and snacks

You're really selling the notion of having children. My girlfriend has never read VillaTalk, I'm making sure she sees these two posts.
I can help you further.
Don't have kids
Unless you want any disposable income gone, nice holidays gone, chill out time gone, nice car swapped for sensible car, less sex, sleepless nights and any sense that anything you own is now not yours. And if you do split up from the mother, 15% of your wages gone for potentially 20 years.

No, it's 7 - 8pm.
Wasn't the torres announcement in the evening? If it wasn't for the rumours of failed medical, I'm sure people would be less impatient, me included.

Apparently 4pm is the new Wednesday.

Romano states 2nd ( main) part of medical is this morning and signing this afternoon.
Presume a more indepth medical was required ?

I get all that mate I just don’t care about this kind of stuff as much as others do. Maybe I’m just getting old.
It will be good for the club if they got back what they paid for Digne. I’m just not going to lose any sleep over it if they don’t.
I get you, it didn't really come into my thinking until I expected us to spend 100 to 150 million each season improving our team once we came back up and then realising there's no chance of that happening especially now we are in Europe, unless we are wiser with our transfer buying and selling. Something we have been terrible at for a long time.

Revan was decent in preseason in his limited time on the pitch.

Fair enough. Maybe I’m just not as invested in football or Villa as much as others to care about how much we sell our players for. I like to believe the people in charge know what they are doing.
Transfers are hit and miss financially, digne was signed under our owners, as was big phil. I'm pretty sure the majority of Villa fans would be ecstatic if we could get back the transfer fees for both and take a combined 250k pw wages off the books in order to be able to replace them with more suitable players.
I'm sure emery, if he isn't keen on using either of them would also be, due to having more freedom to try and get who he wants.
Just like sponsorship, villa Park developments, the academy, selling unwanted or partially used expensive sognings for decent money, all of it is needed to improve our 1st team while complying with FFP.
Improving our 1st team with players who the manager wants and will use, gives us the best chance of success on the pitch, something all villa fans want.

FFP means that most fans DO care as it effects the entire spending capabilities of the club not just now but in the future.
Gone are the days of 'just spunk another 25 million, our owners are billionaires'

Not linked to us but maybe one we could get that would provide a more sturdy right back option ?
Sergino dest the USA right back 22 years old, barca rumoured to be looking to get rid either on loan or cheap sale.
I recall him being one of usa world cups best players ( ok just 1 tournament).

Ended up losing 1 nil, the goal came from a sinisalo kick which fell to a Portsmouth player, 2 passes and in the back of the net. The ball played to him was unnecessary.
He must be gutted, deserved a clean sheet.
Rankine was very poor yet again.
Exeter lost the midfield and resorted to long ball tactics for a large majority of the game when they had been playing it out from the back.

Having a good game today, 3 great saves and kept exeter in it, at half time. 0-0.

Surely not.
I guess it depends how old that ' report' is ? If it were 7 days ago then we were in a better place for such craziness. Or if there was a pinch of truth in the laporte interest then swapping a 4th choice cb for a 1st choice left back on far less wages for a season may have afforded laporte ?
That's the problem with made up or vague reports, there's always a way you can rationalise it with some creative thinking

Do we move on?
€15 million is what has been reported they want with our offer of €4 million plus 2 million in add ons rejected.
Some other report of us loaning Carlos to them plus €4 million for acuna.
Would guess €8 to 10 million should be enough ?
-
Our defence is the thing that needs the most work. Do you change it round and have konsa at right back, Carlos and pau with digne on the left ?
Or try not to change too much and just have pau at lcb and keep konsa and cash in their regular place ?
Or drop konsa and go Carlos and pau ?
Also depends if we are actually shipping digne out for decent money, do we risk him being injured ( he's made of paper anyway) ?
We then have Chambers who can fill in at cb or right back.
Midfield we need to put mcginn back on the right, doug and kamara with teilmans taking up the emi b spot
Leaving diaby and watkins
We need to get back to being robust, we have good enough players to score goals, we need to be water tight at the back so the extra midfield protection should help the defence out while a new back 4 is sorted.

Worryingly, he follows rashica on the gram.
Hopefully tomorrow we get him signed up and in the shirt.

Started off lively. Some of our forward play seems a bit too tippy tappy but also some lovely play mixed in there.
Atmosphere went down after the 1 minute applause and hasn't really managed to lift itself yet, but that's mirrored by on the pitch pace which has been at a controlled pace.
We're playing the tactics issued pretty bang on at the moment and should really have 1 or 2 more goals to show for our play.
Hopefully we can slightly increase the tempo which should raise the crowd and maybe grab a couple more to restore our goal difference.
