  1. He looked good tonight because there was a clever technical player alongside him (Bannan) with some people behind him prepared to give him the ball (Makoun). It would have been good to see Bent as the striker and N'Gog on the wing because they are all clever footballing players. Remember how good he was when he had Robhino alongside ? I know Bannan isn't Robhino but I am referring to technical footballing brains. ------------------Bent --------N'Zog-----Ireland------Bannan --------------Makoun-----Petrov ---Back 4 + Keeper That would be my lineup to get the benefit of having creative technical players who can pass and move. It is narrow but if things dont work so well, Gabby, Heskey, Delph and Albrighton off the bench and have the creative elements of Gardner to come to. Its not all doom and gloom.
  2. I donate and also organise the blood buses at works. We are up to 3 now (144) donations. I joined the marrow register and so did another 13 of my colleagues. I hate needles and they have to hide everything but everyone laughs at me, makes for a fun session
  3. This ^^^^^^ I am just as mad others but he hasn't changed quality because he has changed teams.
  4. There was an official announcement last night that he had signed for them. Dam: wrong thread. Was supposed to be in downing one. Going to blame my phone.
  5. General, we shouldn't keep players who want to go. He wanted to go, we tried to keep him so end of story, we then try to get the best funds we can for him - according to rumours, this is about 5m more than the initial attempts. Good bit of business if you ask me I dont have a problem with doing this year after year after year as long as we are replacing with similar people who in a few years can command a much higher fee than we paid and have had a positive impact on the team while they are here. We will become a better team for it. There will be some that dont work but that is where the scouting network and managerial capabilities kick in. I strongly believe we will be a better team for having a good ethic. Where would a good up and coming person want to come and play if they can develop with us and we allow them to move onwards and upwards after getting value for money. If we can get 2 potential starlets into the team whenever we sell a "star" then lets do it. I guess the main question is how is the scouting network coming along so we can find the starlets to replace those that do leave ?
  6. If a player wants to go and play for another team then why keep him ? The key is replacing him if he goes. Why does all this intent about selling and therefore medicority sit at Randy's door? It isn't Randy who is touting clubs for Downing. Find a suitable replacement and then let him go. We thought it was end of the world when Barry went, we survived, same with Milner, again we survived. We will be fine without Young and Downing as long as we replace with 1st teamers in similar positions. All this talk of it being Randy selling the players is utter tosh in my opinion. Downing didn't want to sign a new contract so we must have tried to and that is not cashing in....... Give Eck chance to look at the players and see who he wants to buy, all this talk of relegation is rather premature. Give Randy a break, best thing to happen to the club in a long time.
  7. i am not entirely happy about this appointment but last season, the better team - player for player (villa) didnt manage to win at all last season against a lesser team (noses) managed by Mcleish. For one minute, it may have been his tactical nouse that managed to gel his players together to win it. At his disposal, he only had hoofball players so he used it to his advantage - playing to their strengths which is what I seem to recall a lot of people saying we should have done last year and not try tippy tappy stuff. We have some players that can play both styles and so maybe he can play the tippy tappy stuff with the better players, against the more appropriate teams and when necessary, he knows how to mix it with the more physical teams. I am yet to be convinced but we need to at least see what he can do and then if by Christmas it is not looking good then we should make feelings known. I feel we will finish top 7 next year.
  8. Mon never, no, no no no. And if Mr lerner even considers it then he should join Mon with the owl and the pussycat. I expect to have a manager who we will be pleased with and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
  9. If he comes and wants some help with transfers then I am sure for a consultation fee, houlier might help. Lol. He wants to stay in midland for a bit so use him.
  10. Disappointed if he goes. Won't be the end of the world. New manager, war chest of 50m+ more if bent decides to throw his teddy bear out pram, should give plenty of scope for dealing and potentially make villa stronger with better fit players. 2 good wingers should convince bent he is better here and we will be stronger. Interesting times ahead plus more dead wood to go.
  11. I would like ancelotti if indeed houlier leaves today.
  12. Russx72. Feel free to add me although not great. Fifa 11, need for speed hot pursuit, gt5, mw2 and occasionally f1 and motogp 09/10
  13. Downing and Coker were the main positives. A Young poor (despite goal). Defence still poor although L Young best of a bad bunch. looking forward to end of season.
  14. Awesome cross by young.....of the Luke variety. Ashley can learn from that. Luke should be our left back, he has looked really good there
