  1. Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, City and Spurs. At this moment in time on paper their squads are all better than ours. So unless there's some excellent players brought in, we'll finish 7th IMO.
  2. Another Irish vote =p I don't know why people were slagging him off when he signed, he's always been a great defender. I think he had a bit of a reputation for red cards and own goals before he came. But he'll throw himself in front of anything which is where alot of his own goals for City came from. Also there was one season with city around 2 years ago where his fitness was slightly in question but he's sorted that now. He's the signing of the season so far by a mile for any team if you ask me (best defense) and if he stays fit he'll be our new McGrath
  3. I don't think this would bother a potential signing. I can't imagine a player saying "I was all set to join Villa until I saw the dugout, plastic seats, are you having a laugh, so I stormed out and back into my Bentley (which has comfy sports seats by the way)" Keep it how it is, having comfy seats won't improve us, and who cares if it looks crap, I don't go to match to sit and watch the dugouts! I'm not saying it would be a deciding factor, i'm saying that since Randy came he's updated and improved lots of small parts of the ground and it makes me feel like we have a more professional club. This would just be another improvement imo.
  4. I don't think it should be like Man U's, however, i do think it should be modernised a little to look a bit better and impress new/ potential signings etc when they come to see the ground as it looks crap at the moment.
  5. lol nice. I'm starting to agree with the F1 comparison too. If Young goes to Chelsea, then that's it.
  6. 7 for me. Happy with the signings we made but i'm taking points off mainly for the fact we sold Maloney and to make matters worse didn't buy a striker, also none of the signings we got have got my pulse racing. So lack of a striker and no exciting players signed are downfalls for me.
  7. I'd be extremely annoyed if i was Petrov and dropped before Barry. Petrov has been playing better than Barry, didn't show the disloyalty Barry showed to the club and i don't think Petrov's concentration and heart is in question, whereas i'm always thinking "does he even want to be here?" whilst i watch Barry stroll about.
  8. The England side selected is generally the best 11 individuals in the country as it certainly isn't the best team, therefore it is a compliment that Barry is in it As a neutral ,where the English team is concerned, i would like to take this opportunity to proclaim ,that from my viewpoint, getting into the English football team , considering their current efficacy as a world power football team, is not much to sing about.
  9. I will again state that saying Barry is an England regular is not a compliment in any way towards the player or the potential of his ability. Do you honestly think England are a good team? If so then i'm sure you're aware that whatever slight offering that Barry has to the team is only based on what the far superior Gerrard leaves him to do.
  10. Fair play, in my universe NRC works his bollox off, plays in whatever position he is asked to by the manager and does his best. Barry has a good game when he feels like it and only people like yourself rate him at the money Liverpool were allegedly willing to pay for him.
  11. Why NRC before Barry?? Seriously i was watching the match with poll fans and they were all in agreement that they were glad they didn't get Barry. But they as well as me were praising NRC for his attitude and workrate. Barry did nothing all game, apart from the odd "decent" pass, this player is meant to be worth near 20million! BTW can someone tell Curtis Davies he's not playing in the Championship anymore and he doesn't need to hoof the ball everyone time it lands at his feet. I take it you were watching the game with Liverpool fans and they were glad they didnt get Barry WELL a) they would wouldn't they, hardly a great reason for anything. Bit like the kid who wanted a 10p mix in the sweet shop but only had 5p so he bought the gobstopper that he really really wanted honest. I can name some lifelong Liverpool fans that have always rated Gareth Barry but suddenly dont rate him at all they also think most of their squad are "good" when in fact they have a full back that even NRC appeared to be skinning, two strikers playing on the wing (and apparently this shows that Benitez is astute) Barry wasnt on top form today but he did ok, did little wrong, switched play effectively as usual, made the best pass of the game plus plenty of other good incisive passes but hey, he looks disinterested so he is crap, he was ok Bickster, i have been a great cynic of Barry's quality and ability to bring us forward as a team on these forums and in general discourse well before Pool's bid for him. Barry for me is a player who we wasted the perfect chance and time to sell him for the most beneficial amount of money in our club's interest. Alot of last season Barry was invisible and ineffective in games that matterd that most. If you want the future look towards NRC. if you want the sort of mediocrity that Barry and Hendrie before him gave the club then continue to delude yourself that we were lucky to keep Barry.
  12. I'm not sure. Curtis played about the same as the rest of our back four. Well i'm sorry but everytime i saw him acquire the ball he launched it up the pitch rather than build up an attack on the groud, and i'm sure my swearing and blood pressure will attest to that
  13. Why NRC before Barry?? Seriously i was watching the match with pool fans and they were all in agreement that they were glad they didn't get Barry. They dodged a bullet there. But they, as well as me, were praising NRC for his attitude and workrate. Barry did nothing all game, apart from the odd "decent" pass, this player is meant to be worth near 20million! BTW can someone tell Curtis Davies he's not playing in the Championship anymore and he doesn't need to hoof the ball everytime it lands at his feet.
  14. I'm sorry but why would we compare anything to the English football team? They are a group of overated, work-shy, mercernaries that can boast the likes of Cashly Cole and john Terry in their squad (how quickly people forget) A team of underachievers and , quite frankly, getting away with prison spoilt brats should never be held up to a team like ours. You want balance? Drop Barry! Give NRC and Petrov the start they deserve. Barry IMO is worth 10million at most, we would have been lucky to get what Pool were offering. He disappears when we need him the most and he holds us back.
  15. I wish Barry had left for Liverpool, might have forced us to buy a decent attacking midfielder to play alongside the awesome NRC (i'm not being sarcastic, give him the captain's armband). I'm sick of "neither here or there" Gareth Barry, why do some people still rate him when supporters of other football teams and myself claim him to be average? If we had to get 18mil for him i'd still pissing myself laughing now. If you want a man to rise to the big occassion then Gareth Barry is certainly not your man.
  16. Today i was watching the game with 3 Liverpool supporters. Now i have to say they have alot more manners and class than the filth that slitherd away after the Spurs v Chelsea game ended (i've never heard the word removed word used so much on a Sunday) But to me i was embarrassed by the lac of attacking football we've become known for. This was the best chance to beat Liverpool and we wasted it. We need a striker just a as much as our howls for a right back all last season. If we don't get one by the deadline on Mon night then i'm afraid this will tell on our season as a whole. Who was going to come on today to add something new to our predictive strike force? Marlon Harewood is not the asnwer
  17. I'd drop Barry and put NRC back in midfield as the holding player, Petrov as the attacter. Milner on the right and Barry on the bench. I don't think Barry's performances last season and thins season with everything hanging over his head has been good enough. If you want to see someone battling to wear the shirt watch NRC, if you want to see someone who's head's in the clouds watch Barry. Give the Captain's armband to NRC! He deserves it.... does his best in the position MON puts him in. NRC > Mr Invisible
  18. Cool, thanks Rev Yeah i've set up the trial anyway to start with. Last time i got the first 2 months free when i bought it out of game and i only paid for another month so wasn't sure if anything changed etc I started a new account because i only had a night-elf hunter on the other one and i didn't really like them. I've made an undead warlock this time. I couldn't find the realm you mentioned the VT'ers play in, does it still exist?
  19. Hey guys. I played WOW for a while but quit due to not having enough time to play. I've switched departments where i work so i'm going to be doing strange hours again and i've decided to give it a go again. Could someone just fill me in on: 1. The cost monthly in £'s at the moment and does it change much? 2. What's the best pack to buy and where from? I.e where can i get the most months for free etc 3. How many expansions are out for it at the moment? Can i get everything in one pack? 4. What's the cancelation rules etc now? I'll probably have to cancel it in the Summer again due to lack of time to play so do you think it would be worth getting for 6months or so and are they flexible with canceling or do you have to give loads of notice etc? It's 3months you buy at a time yeah? That's it for now, thanks
  20. General, I'd just like to say that Randy's comments regarding Prem games being played abroad meant alot to us Villa fans. Even fans of other clubs i'm sure. If you could pass on my thanks and full support regarding this, as i'm sure is the opinion of many more Villa fans.
  21. That was my prediction when this thread first started and i'm sticking by that. I think the goalkeeper is going to **** up the accuracy though.
  22. aren't they on the US axis of evil / Oil we want to control hit list better pick another destination ..... :-) another bloody student on the forum :-) lol i'm not a student, i'm at work, hence the laziness Venezuela seems to be a good place to avoid capitalist influence for the moment :winkold: Until America instigates another coup that is.
  23. I'm too lazy to get into how vehemently i am against this but if this comes into Europe i'm off to Venezuela.
  24. Agreed, the government have no right to denote what happens to YOUR body after death, it sets a very worrying precident!! Bit by bit it's being forced in. Everyone will have an ID card, all our DNA will be on record, we won't be able to walk 2 steps without our movement being recorded on CCTV or by satellite. George Orwell's prediction is tame in comparison to what's really going to happen.
