    I think the lesson is if the Manager feels a player is the right fit it doesn't matter if he goes back to a previous club. I am sure DS is smart enough to know who might work in his system and in the PL, and if he has working knowledge of that player and think s he is talented enough its likely to be a safer investment. I am sure there is suitable talent is available here, in the Championship or abroad. As you mention, the price is the most important part and I am sure (I hope!) Purslow will prove to be almost as shrewd an operator for us as Daniel Levy is for Spurs.

    We need an upgrade on Taylor but it’s not a priority like other positions are and he keeps continuity. He looked fairly robust defensively last season, but pretty limited going forward, here in lies the improvement but perhaps we can spend money more effectively at the moment?

    A lot of posters on here need a reality check. Not all Championship players are not good enough. Championship quality players are generally cheaper than current premiership players. There is less risk with a very good Championship player than a foreign player arriving here having never played in British football before, whatever his quality, but that is why they generally cost slightly more. Good luck in sourcing 10+ Premier League quality new players for £100m.

    He started the account in July 2014 and has been active only in transfer windows, he tweets about info other than medicals so I think he has a different insight at the club, he also occasionally tweets about other midlands clubs (but much less so) so could be in the football agency world or media. He is reliable but doesn’t pass on as much info on each tip as you might ordinarily want like he might say “DM approach”. avfctransfers was active in parallel and stopped in 2016 so they almost certainly different people.

    Maupay is the real deal, he will make it in the game and would be a safe investment. Maupay is one of the best in the Championship. He can score from anywhere and with head or feet, volleys, tap-ins, he creates his own goals and is very energetic and a tough cookie. Take a moment to watch his YT clips, he is waiting for the big time, he would be right at the top of my shopping list alongside Axel. He wants to be here too. (Not suggesting you are) It’s a mistake to confuse ‘not good enough for the premier league’ for ‘not good enough for the top six’. There are plenty of players in the Championship that are good enough for the PL, not all will make it if given the chance and not all are good enough for top six, but there are at least 40-50 players plying their trade in the Championship that will play at a very good standard given the right surroundings. Premier league top six is basically mixing it with the very best in the world, that’s a very high standard. There’s plenty of very good tiers below this in the Premier League.

    It’s a private account, he doesn’t tweet much but only on solid news, he seems to know someone at the club or works there as he knows when medicals are booked or going on, he also knows of interest and bids going in. Is quite cryptic but is generally ahead of the curve on news, e.g. he will refer to the position until the name is in the public domain. Was ahead of the Joe Bryan stuff last summer and Isaac Hayden loan bid in Jan, and Rico Henry. Advised on Justin this window. It’s interesting as he give you info on quite a bit that falls through so you get false dawns but that the transfer business, that’s why he gets some stick from some. I think he’s genuine
