We are not in a million years catching City and Arsenal. If anything we’d do well to maintain the current gap. Hopefully city stuff man utd 10-0 to leave their season completely in tatters and we can then confirm it’s just us v spurs in the race for fourth.

This is the best scenario now, City thump Utd further widening the GD gap

Playing devils advocate. We’ve only conceded  one headed goal in the league this season

Lots of recycled goals though where the ball was headed back across

Not sure on that. I think we'll try to hang on to what we have but we'll follow a similar model to January.

Newcastle made the CL and their transfer business was Lewis Hall, Tonali and Harvey Barnes. Probably didn't do enough there with all their injuries but could see Howe's thinking in not wanting to disrupt the team spirit and balance of the team.

Issue is if we sign 3-4 high calibre players that will further increase the wage bill so we will remain in danger of FFP breaches if we then don't secure CL the following season.

From what I remember aswell once we're eliminated from CL there isn't Europa league drop in either.

You get EL if you come 3rd in the group.  Don't think you drop in from the qualifying stage though.

Crazy to me how some people would be so willing to let him go for " FFP ".

The biggest shame is that FFP is dictating these things rather than football.

I understand they don't want clubs to go out of business but its ruining the sporting competition.

Am I right in thinking we didn’t register him for our conference league squad? Bit concerning given our CB situation.

Yea unfortunately so, not sure if you're allowed to switch injured players

Yeah I'm not suggesting we don't replace them. It's just that fringe players can't be on those salaries unless they are higher quality, and barely even then unless we reach the CL It's just not sustainable to have your 6th choice CB on £50k/w. Not sure any other club in the world has that. Olsen is useless for the way we want to play and is also on £50k-£55k. Donk, Coutinho and even Sanson are big salaries. Lenglet is on a grotesque contract at Barca (we ain't paying all of that) and Zaniolo is not playing enough or at a level enough to be worth the outlay.

Kosta, Sousa and Gauci are likely on a fraction of what the current fringe/rotation lot earn. This is the way.

Digne I have a feeling he might be on his way out but if not then great, left side of defense sorted.

If we needed to sell a big ticket player, would think it more likely that Ramsey or Diaby could be sold, rather than a Luiz or Watkins. Added to that the sales of Sanson, Digne, Hause, Chambers, Dendoncker, possibly Carlos, Duran or Cash?  Zaniolo and Lenglet going back. Could o the younger academy players to go?

With Rogers signed and Buendia returning for next season, we could cope without either Ramsey or Diaby player (if we had to sell one that is).

We’ve actually done pretty well exploring who is out of contract and getting someone in (ie Kamara and Tielemans).  I wonder if there are one or two that we could consider this summer?  Anyone know of a couple that we could look at?

Linked with Hermoso on a free.   Sell Carlos and sign Hermoso.... depends on wages obvs

There will be others for sure.  As others have said being in CL will have a huge impact 1) extra revenue 2) ability to sign top quality players free or not

I'm the same. He's infectious under Emery and has really improved as an actual footballer in last 18 months (rather than just getting endlessly around the pitch in a high tempo manner). Now he's making excellent decisions in the final third of the pitch (was a lovely cross for Luiz goal). Two years ago I would've sold him, not now.

Also coming up to 30 so I don't see anyone bidding huge amounts and just feels right he plays for us in the CL given he's the longest server in the squad. Did we sign him before even NSWE had completed the takeover?

He signed in August, NSWE brought the club in July so I think he was the first and only signing in that window.  Fair play to Bruce there.

I’ve been thinking that, that we could simultaneously win the conference league and get CL football by securing the extra English spot, all in that one match. It’s quite a realistic scenario.

In reality it should be decided by then as you only pick up 2 points for a win there will only be the finals left.

Was a cracking aggressive header as well, really shame it didn't count because of such petty little details.

Inaccurate details too, they ran the line off Bailey

Looks recovered to me, bring him back in the fold, we are massively missing him.

Still so much more to go, looking good in very controlled movements though.

I tore my achilles last year and the physio/gym work is only half of it!
