  1. Hopefully we can put in another Arsenal style performance and get it done.  I think if we win Sunday it's over, I don't see Spurs winning 3 and drawing 1 whilst overturning the GD.

We don't tend to have big runs of bad games so we should be able to put at least one good performance in before the end of the season.

  2. He had a really good game, really positive and aggressive.  He does need to step up one or two paces though to avoid playing people onside.  Only blot on his performance

  3. Had a bit of an off game on Sat but still showed glimpses of his quality.   We did need him and Ollie to hold the ball up more on Saturday.  Surprised he wasn't subbed tbh.

With all this talk of CL qualification how do you see the recently announced spending cap will effect us due to our recent success?

Obviously not to come in until 25/26 but, if we're an established CL side by then (or at least a regular in Europe) our spending is capped at 70% our overall club revenue.

You've then got the "Anchoring" limit of 4.5x the bottom club's TV revenue (currently would be £466m).

I'm guessing CL will increase our revenue by a fair bit, but at the minute we're not really one of the clubs who have a great amount of revenue coming in.

Villa we're one of only 3 clubs to vote against the cap. Just interesting given the likes of Newcastle voted in favour.

Honestly no bloody idea and I don't think the people making the rules do either!

Hey, @Stevo985, I was redoing the permutations in my head, and isn't it actually the case that it could be true, ie, it's mathematically possible that if we want CL, we must get all the points from our remaining PL matches? Not trying to be a git -- just hoping to get it straight in my feeble mind. If Spurs miraculously win everything, we must win everything, too, and protect our GD, right?

If we did win our next 3 games it wouldn't  matter what Spurs did!

  6. He's a really good player and will certainly add more next season in both Europe and Prem.

Ref the pace question, I think him and Bailey just don't run flat out with the ball that often.  Not always called for as you tend to overrun and don't always look for the beat option.

I think he was just very passive aggressive - it was quite funny - but I liked seeing it, it showed that despite what he was saying he’s not blind to the fact that we were shit!

Oh totally, he was fuming but refused to call out the players or say it wasn't good.  Clearly knew it though and gave very short answers which isn't like him.

He would have if Olsen hadn’t ran out. Made him change his mind and **** it up. Poor by Carlos but keeper didn’t help.

Still think Olsen would have got back to pick it up!

  9. Personally I'd have headed it back as the keeper could have retreated back into the box and dived on the ball.  Chelsea players probably would have stop chasing after the header.

Although this season has been the best in decades, I’m exhausted by it and I’m just a fan! Players must be getting mentally drained.

Exactly this, which is why you get flat performances like last night.  As a team we're not used to this amount of pressure and coverage in the league let alone the European games.

They're not going to lose all 3. Probability alone says that's unlikely, and they are spawny bastards.

I fully expect Chelsea, after playing out of their skins against us, will revert to type and roll over for their London neighbours. Goblins, both teams.

I actually think the Chelsea game is the one they're most likely to lose.  Chelsea will be up for it , and they've got a terrible record at the Bridge.  Overall in the last couple of months Chelsea have played pretty well.
