This is heavily skewed by the addition of United.

They will be nowhere near the top 5 come the end of the season and pretty much only serve to drag Villa down in this "top 6 mini-league". If you were to only look at the top 5 teams competing for Champions League football this season, we're joint top, I believe.

Agreed but the main point is Spurs have actually done well against most teams.

It happens though, I don’t care if at the end of the season we end up above both of them.  It’s about consistency across a full league season and not playing brilliantly or poorly in a one off game, that’s why I hate the term ‘must win game’ when it’s in the middle section of the season because it’s not true.  Yes it would’ve made it easier if we had beaten them but beating all them we would now be in the title race and we know we aren’t that good yet.

This is a very sensible post, one off games can happen.  A league rewards the most consistent teams.

    You thinking Ty LB?

I had a think about this myself.

In fairness, we still have no idea how he will come back so maybe premature.

But imagine a game where solidity is what we need?

Ty - LB  Pau LCB Carlos RCB Konsa RB

Or we could just do a 3 at the back hybrid.

Ty LCB Pau CB Konsa RCB

    Alot of possibilities imo.

We could play the 3 however I do think it's too negative especially at home.  Definitely an option for certain games though

Plymouth have been shocking since Foster took over, but they were hurt by us recalling Azaz and Kesler In January. I don’t think Souza is quite having the experience of Azaz or Kesler there.

Warnock likely to be incoming, and he’s not famous for bloody kids in relegation battles.

Yeh we've not really helped them by taking two 1st team players.  Hoping they stay up though.

Trying to second guess the run in is just impossible in my opinion. Players can get injured. Teams can suddenly lose or gain form. I remember last season thinking we would never get 7th after the two one nil losses against Manure and The Dogheads. Then all of a sudden we went back into form .

We need to make sure we beat Lille and help cement 5th place for Champs League. Thats what i want . Couldnt give 2 fcks about 4th if 5th can be confirmed , especially if as i believe tberes no qualifying rounds and just this new league format.

Massive bonus if no qualifying, I didn't know that?!

Some of us have been showing the maths that showed Utd had almost no chance of finishing above us for weeks now.

They haven't realistically been in the race for a while now

I do admire all of your confidence and faith 🙂.

Tbf I am confident about our team and especially Emery, theres just a part of me that wants it to be certain before I can openly talk about it.  Don't want it to go wrong I guess is the overriding feeling for most!

Superb player. I worry he will be moved permanently to RB when Ty is back from injury.

I would rather him more central.

Less of a worry when you have Ty and Pau in the middle although it's unbalanced for playing out.

Obviously you'd want the option of a more attacking rb too

In his last post match interview Pep basically hung Grealish out to dry and put him on the transfer list. Now I wouldn't want to pay anywhere near what they paid for him, but if a fee could be agreed, would people want him back? Personally, if the money is right, I think he would fit in to that LM role perfectly in our system.

Nobody has replied yet which I'm surprised about.  His talent clearly has a place in our team but I just don't see how the financials make sense especially wages wise.

All of that aside he is injured far too often.

some great strong hold up play in the 2nd half. Bullied the wolves defence.

Really was, winning fouls to relieve pressure too

Spot on.....The boy has Football IQ....He is visionary.

A bit lightweight, granted, but played in his right position, with the right players around him to do the robust work, he has class.

It was some coup, to get him on a free.

He was MOTM against England, and it was noticeable  how he used the space, he had, intelligently....huge boost of confidence from that game, yeah.

I think he was a shrewd acquisition.

Definitely a boost after the England game, yesterday was one of his best for us.
