I am confused and frightened by this passing thing we're trying. And, if I'm honest, a little bit turned on.

Didn't see the match, but I heard the radio commentary. Tony Morley started off by ripping into Gabby for his past behavior and ended the match singing his praises. I've been unhappy with him, but if he's prepared to work hard like he did today then I can't ask much more of him.

Great first half, crumbled in the second. Should have taken our early chances really. Sounds like Gabby had his best game for us in literally years, while Grealish had a mare.

Co-commentator (can't remember his name, my apologies) started to say "Good on Gabby for running around," but stopped halfway through and said "I won't say good on him for running around, because that's what he should be doing. He's pulled the wool over a lot of people's eyes for a long time; he owes the club and it's about time he started paying them back." Or something very much like it.

Sometimes it doesn't matter how good a player is; they're just not a good fit for a certain team.

Giving the ball to Hutton essentially spells the imminent end of an attack, whether it's through a cross that doesn't beat the first man, a cross that sprays over everybody's heads, a misplaced pass into the middle of nowhere, a pass that goes straight to an opposition player or a mazy run directly into a defender. I can't see how he deserves credit for trying when the things he tries constantly go wrong. It would be better for the team, at least in terms of retaining possession, if he didn't try.

Too much of last seasons dross still needs clearing out. These are players who showed they didn't have the bottle for a relegation scrap - why did anyone think they'd have the bottle for a promotion fight?

Good to see we put on a performance worthy of the memory of Graham Taylor. Chester did well. Elphick had his moments. Everyone else was rubbish. And you know what? I HATE Gabby Agbonlahor.

I don't know what to do with these players honestly, but we've seen before that when a manager criticises players he gets slaughtered for it. Personally I don't mind it myself - I think these guys could do with a sharp dose of reality - but the game at large seems to feel differently.
