Those comments from the Sevilla director are so harmless. Amazed people are getting their knickers in a twist

Think Diego will be a decent signing. He’s basically a replacement for Hause, so it’s a big upgrade. We now have 4 centre backs I’d be happy to see in any starting lineup, and a nice balance of footballers and stoppers.

So you think we’ve just paid £26m for a back up player i.e a player that won’t be in the first team?

So Inter plan to sell DeVrij and get Gleison Bremer in?

If there is any possibility I'd love for us to go for Bremer instead.

I watched De Vrij recently for Inter Milan, I was very impressed, I’d be pleasantly surprised if we signed him

He’s playing ok but not brilliant. Looks about as mentally fatigued as the senior team. They’re all ready for a break now.

I agree, well deserved, he’s had a terrific season at club level, I think he is saving himself in this match

  4. He’s been quiet in the first half for England u21s, he has had England’s 2 best chances but in general play, he hasn’t gotten on the ball that much. The second half is just about to start on bbc3 channel 23 on my tv

    Come on Lange. do something

We had a great start to the window, there was always going to be a lull. I don’t think it will be the end of our business, both in and out, try to be patient

I like him but where would he fit for us?  In the middle attack behind the 9 we already have Coutinho and Buendia and we are struggling to fit both in and then as a winger, well we don’t play with wingers and if we did we have the likes of Bailey and Traore already.  I like the kid but we are overloaded in the positions he mostly plays so I’d rather a straight out No.9.  Good shout though just bad timing for the squad!

I see what you mean and I think you are correct, it was just a suggestion and he looks a cut above to me

We just don't need another striker.  Watkins and Ings are both good strikers.

Ings is on the decline, his best days are behind him I think. We need someone to come in and compete with him and Watkins and to have Archer and Davis as back up if they are willing to do that role

Don't think he's ready yet otherwise Gerrard would've given him some minutes instead of Young in the periods Digne was injured.

Chrisene is still very young, he has plenty of time to make an impression at the club or out on loan

Nof doubting his ability at all. Just his fitness and playing time as he is developing isnt at an optimal level yet to be trusted to be back up left back. In my eyes he is Gareth Barry reincarnated but he just doesnt complete enough games yet .

I agree with you, is that why we let Matt Targett so that we can trust Chrisene to be back up to Lucas Digne? Chrisene only signed a new contract with us in January, so the club clearly rates him

Hi mate. As much as i  like his potential Chrisene isnt physically up to the task it seems at the moment. Never seems to complete a 90 minutes. Which isnt all that strange for some youngsters. Once he has got some reliability and can complete games then i am sure he will be pushing whoever has the leftback slot at that time.

For someone so young, he’s only 18 years old, he has quite a lot of first team experience. He played a few matches for Exeter City’s first team and we poached him, I think he has a lot of talent and he is versatile. Tim Iroegbunam didn’t look like an 18 year old when he made his debut for us, I think Chrisene could have a similar impact for us if he is given the opportunity

Well we should only sign a young left back as understudy because a similarly aged left back for half the wages wont be a competition

We already have a young left back as understudy, Ben Chrisene, excellent player. In my opinion, he has a real chance, we bought him from Exeter City, he can also play in midfield

Wolves were very close to signing him 3 years back but he didn't want to leave. His stock is probably higher now so some CL clubs in Italy would likely be after him.

Thanks, I didn’t know that, I think he’s an excellent player but I don’t know if he’d come here

If he’s available I’d like us to look at Zinchenko as a CM option.

In my opinion, if Man City were looking to sell him, there would be a host of takers, bigger clubs than us definitely, great player I think

When I think about this there I times I agree with u but also times when I think we could be opportunistic. Other clubs may not be able to afford that and if the selling club like the idea of 70m and a player sees a 4x increase in wages plus the opportunity to play PL football we could be an attractive proposition

If we did pay x player 4x increase in wages to a new signing, it would set a bad precedent to the rest of the squad and create bad harmony in my opinion

Really tough question. I would like Darwin Nunez but he is more expensive. Ben Brereton Díaz may be a good addition at the 20m mark as one to develop if we felt Ings can play as the main striker. My knowledge of the European market is not great but I am guessing there are some high scorers that would like a chance in the PL with Villa. I think our next striker should be in the 70m+ price range and we get a real clinical finisher. I think we will create enough chance with our attacking players now that we have built some solidity at the back

Brereton-Diaz isn’t a bad shout at all, although it would be a big risk as he has never played in the Premier League before but people said that when we signed Ollie Watkins but he stepped up, no problem.

We finished 14th in the Premier League last season, I don’t think we are currently in a position to attract a £70m striker

I agree, I would spend the money elsewhere. My point about Richarlison was that I would prefer him to Ollie but if I had 50m quid to spend I would buy neither of them

Who would you spend it on?

For me if you bring someone in to play striker it needs to be significantly better than what we have..... and he isn't

Do you think all of the ones you just listed are significantly better than what we currently have?
