My point was none of their products get into the Chelsea, Liverpool or City squads. I include Rashford in that for sure.

I agree, when Rashford first broke in to the Man United first team, he looked like he was going to be brilliant but he just hasn’t continued in the way he started his career for whatever reason. Injuries have played a big part I think in his career stalling, not a lack of talent

Oh I completely agree and I hope they throw away the key, the blokes a disgusting human being.

I was purely replying to the point on Man Utd's academy has produced nothing of note in 5 years.

    Rashford?

Can’t think of one off the top of my head except maybe Abraham if he wants to come back to the premier league but I doubt we are a big enough draw with how well he and Roma are doing this season.

personally I think between them we should be able to get 30 goals in the league IF…..

We played 4231 and got two defensive midfielders to play in the 2

    Diego Costa?

We are currently stuck between a rock and a hard place.

It seems......Not good enough to attract better players, until we establish ourselves higher up the league......now that is what I call, tricky.

It is tricky, the top 6 is virtually set in stone and then we have the bottom 14 which we are a part of. I know it sounds silly but in the Premier League, pretty much anyone can beat anyone on any given day. We are fortunate to be a part of what is commonly acknowledged to be the best league in the world which I agree with. The squad we currently have is the best we have had for about a decade or so, we have been through quite a lot of turmoil in that time, culminating in our relegation in 2015/16, it was a dark day for the football club, we were a shambles at that time. I like to think that we are in a much better place now but nothing should be taken for granted

    He isnt

Why do you say this? I think he’s excellent, he would improve us, I’d pay the £60m or whatever it would take. The whole league would sit up and take notice if we signed him, he’s a class act

  7. We just need to get back to being hard to beat like we were last season. I believe we have the personnel to do this but I also think that the loss of Grealish has contributed significantly to us conceding more as he alleviated so much pressure on the defence. My team for this match would be:

    Martinez

Cash Chambers Mings (c) Digne (if not fit, Young, although he’s clearly not a left back)

    McGinn Luiz Ramsey

    Buendia Watkins Coutinho

Bench: Olsen, Konsa, Sanson, Traore, Bailey, Chukwuemeka, Iroegbunam

  8. If he could score goals, he’d be playing for Man City or someone like that. His build up play is excellent but he just doesn’t have that goalscoring instinct that is needed to be a success in the Premier League. It’s a shame but that’s the reality of the situation, all of you guys tried to tell me this but it only just sunk in watching the match today. He made Van Dijk look like a mug at times today but he just can’t score, it’s sad

  9. There seems to be quite a clamour to drop Watkins in this thread. In my opinion, Ings doesn’t work hard enough for the team to play up front by himself. I don’t think Gerrard knows his best team yet, it is still early in to his stint as Villa manager, he has made a good start.

We've got a lot of central defenders at the moment, Appiah, Bogarde, Bridge, Swinkels, Dominic Revan, Sohna, Smith, Feeney, Zito, Softley, Aaron O'Reilly, and Katsukunya and possibly some more central defenders next season amongst the new first year scholars. I imagine a few of those will be coming to the end of their time with us.

Triston Rowe who we signed from WBA too

    • Thanks 1
  11. I’ve just seen footage of our u15 goalkeeper Sam Proctor on his Instagram, he looks outstanding. We signed him about a year ago from Peterborough United, he looks special, he’s played for England at u15 level too. If the worst happens and we lose Martinez, we’ve got this lad coming through!

Our bench won't stay strong if none of them are getting game time, they'll all be off in the summer.

If we had a load of kids on the bench, people would be moaning at a lack of experience. Maybe, we should try having a blend of youth and experience on the bench, I don’t know, it’s just a suggestion

O'Hare got two today too. That U23 team front line smashed it today . Rushian Hepburn Murphy stacked some shelves in record time too.

I thought RHM was going to better than Davis, shows what I know!

  14. I think he’s excellent, he would improve us no end, he’s just what we’re missing in midfield. No doubt, there will be competition for his signature, there would be for a player of his quality. This potential signing would be a statement of intent. I’ve always him admired from a distance, he has real quality on the ball. The only downside to this signing is that he is quite nasty I think. I can’t understand some of these other posts, I would struggle to name a better defensive midfielder that we could attract

Or Westwood is underrated on here 😉

He does the simple thing well, he doesn’t overcomplicate the game. We paid £2m for him from Crewe I think, how prices have increased so quickly

He seemed to get turned pretty easy against Reading ( their big striker) for their goal...even though we won 4-1.

    maybe just one bad incident.

My reseach says his first game as a sub was against us, in a League cup game 28 Oct 1998, so you are rightjust before his 18th Birthday in December..He next played in an FA cup game the next season 1999...I was talking regular League Football..but hey ho.

Feeney is young, he will learn, he is going to be a great player but I don’t want to put too much pressure like I have on many before him. He will make mistakes and become a better player for it
