Think that's what kamara will bring to the team  at this level been missing a decent defensive midfielder since promotion

Since Glenn Whelan? I think Tim Iroegbunam is going to be a fantastic player, without putting too much pressure on him. I have only seen him once against Norwich City at home last season in the 1-0 victory for us but he blew me away. He looks so confident and mature for one so young but like I said, I don’t want to hype him up too much

But what about the countless youngsters we’ve been signing? Tim Iro, Azaz, Feeney, Barry, loads more even Chukweumeka we signed from elsewhere

Apparently, we have signed 30 young players aged 18 or under over the past year or two, I remember reading it on the internet. I can’t remember where I saw it though

Totally agree - I think there is a player in there, he did well against Man Utd and arguably our best player at wolves.
with 5 subs this season there is absolutely no way he should be going anywhere imo

I agree with you, he hasn’t been given a fair crack of the whip for me

Absolutely, but this is to a team chasing promotion, it’s a massive step up!

Agreed, he shouldn’t be rushed, he is a special talent. If memory serves, he was at Cheltenham on loan last season, anyone know how he did there?

  5. I don’t think he should be written off just yet, he hasn’t had the opportunity to show what he can do in the Premier League. When he has actually played, anyone could see that he has ability on the ball

I’m anxious about this one. He’s a great talent, but I fear it may be a step up too soon. If he gets regular minutes then it’s perfect, but with a lot of pressure in promotion for them, he might not get as many minutes.

I remember watching him in the u16s a couple of seasons ago, he was outstanding. I knew from then on, he was one to keep an eye on

Since the Brighton game in mid-February, be only started 4 games.

To put it into perspective, he played less minutes than Jack Grealish last season.

Really? I hadn’t realised that, his incisive through balls for Ings especially is a delightful combination

So what would that be from Academy in last few years

Jack sold 100m (way over his real value). Carney sold 20m (way over what we should have got with under 1Y left on contract)

We'll have JJ and Cam in the first team squad, Aaron, KKH and Tim all likely getting a Championship loan or be in first team squad.

    It's looking good so far

Chukwuemeka only had a year left on his contract and we got £20m for him? I hadn’t realised that, it’s good business from the club for an 18 year old, no matter how talented they are

Brighton have played a blinder with the White and now Cucurella (insane) sales…

    Football really is mental nowadays.

I’ll be glad if our club displays a more sensible and measured approach when it comes to transfers…

Funny how Pep missed out on another expensive defensive signing, he’s the master of it 🤣 chequebook manager.

Maybe he thinks that said player doesn’t fit his system or style of play

    No problems mate 👍

Sorry, I just like having a laugh. Not looking to score points 😆

It helps in this day and age. Villa doing well would too 🤣

Haha ok, don’t worry about it, it’s my slow wittedness, do you think we did well last season Jas10? The last sentence suggests not but I could be wrong

I think its reasonable to expect Bailey to play better this season given he has looked fitter pre season. Last year he didn't show us his abilities, I think he will this year. Gerrard obviously rates him and that is one of the reasons we are probably not after another forward/winger.

If the opportunity arises to sign a forward/ winger, we should take it but I believe in Ollie Watkins, Danny Ings and Cameron Archer. I think they will have enough goals in them for us not to sign another forward/ winger. Not forgetting Keinan Davis who is still on the books, don’t forget

    Mate… he was being sarcastic.

And I was being humorous, didn’t mean to be harsh on you.

No one wants to sell Bailey 🤣

    My apologies.

What have I succumbed to btw? 🤣

Apologies, I didn’t realise he was being sarcastic, I see now, it is hard to tell on an internet forum. Sorry about the succumbed bit, I just like that word

Nah I can see @DaveAV1 point of view. He’s now become a bit of a gamble because of his injuries so if we could make back what we paid it’s something to consider. I’d much rather we kept him though.

Every transfer is a gamble, regardless of price tag. Bailey has shown good form in pre season but it is only non-competitive football. He hasn’t had a run of games in the Premier League to show his true capabilities

No kidding. My expectation was that Ron Vlaar would come and clean out my house's gutters, but here I am years later, STILL waiting!

Vlaar is paid to play football, I still fondly remember that goal against Sunderland at Villa Park. He was good for us I think, I think without checking that we only paid £3m for him, bargain from Paul Lambert. £7m for Christian Benteke too, those 2 signings played a big part in us staying up in 2012/13. I think without checking that Benteke scored 23 goals that season, 18 in the league, he was majestic that season

7th easy....yeah sure it is. And when we are 11th in December the sack the manager post will start

I didn’t say it was easy, far from it. Some people are just never happy

I understood it, I am not in to point scoring over the internet, it is one thing that I am not in to. The fact that you have succumbed to that, some fans just need a signing, they are never happy with what they have. We currently have a very decent squad but they are not miracle workers. We are light years behind the big 6, top 10 even, we finished 14th last season, it is worth remembering that

If we get a top quality Number 8, 7th is easy for us.

I’d be amazed even with this mythical number 8 that we keep talking about, that we finished 7th. We have strengthened considerably since last season but I’d expect another mid table finish. All of the teams in and around us have strengthened their squads too. It is worth remembering that 3 years ago, we were in The Championship

    Sounds like a great plan.

Get the player looking like he's settled at the club and firing, then sell him at the beginning of the season to get in another player you're not certain will be settled or firing straight away if at all.

How about giving Bailey a run in the team before deciding whether they are good enough or not? He has had terrible luck with injuries since he signed for us. Just be patient with him. I know it’s only pre-season friendlies but he has scored a few, I don’t have the exact stats. I know YouTube isn’t much to go on either but in his Bayer Leverkusen days, he looked quick and explosive with no little skill too. I think without checking that he cost £25m when we bought him from Bayer Leverkusen, that is chump change in today’s game compared to the big 6 or even the top 10

I'm genuinely interested in @sir_gary_cahill and @useless thoughts on this but don't have time to trawl. If you can be bothered please say them again, thanks

I’m gutted that he’s left us, for me, he is a terrific player who if he is given a chance in their first team, he will flourish. He has great natural ability, I wish he was given more of a chance in our first team

Probably @sir_gary_cahill predicting an " outstanding" season.

I think we have a great opportunity to do well this season, the squad is in good shape. We have good quality even on the bench. There is still a few weeks left of the transfer window, we have a good chance to add even more quality than we currently have. I trust Gerrard, his name alone attracts players to this club
