  1. Kev Mac,i'd rather he was a coach myself.with GH bringing in his own man.if thats Thompson or someone else i dont mind.. I'll take that, Jason Mac was on SSN the last day and said GH wasn't very approachable! Could help with KM as number 2! not very approchable, sounds like storys i have heard about O'Runner. Yup! I'm guessing JR or SW weren't either! Everyone seems to talk highly of KM! Surely Sid should be given the reigns out the youths though!

  3. Who do we think the number 2 will be now? Been gone the last 4 hours!
  4. Really? When he left the pool as a player he went to Sheff Utd, couldn't settle and retired at 31!
  5. Can you see him celebrating a last minute Ashley Young winner at Anfield?
  6. He left Lyon because of problems with the president as for going backwards in Europe, in both 05/06 & 06/07 they topped their group undeafeated, a group that contained Real Madrid. In 05/06 the hammered PSV 5-0 on agg equaling their best ever record of getting to the quarters!
  7. The League never lies. Being insanely lucky in the Champions League does lie. They never beat Chelsea, they had 6/7 minutes of madness against Milan and were totally outplayed for the rest of the game and they needed a late goal to get out of the group stages. No the complete shambles that was their Premier League campaign shows they were a poor side. I disagree buddy, I think it was Rafas fault for their poor league form. He let Michael Owen go to Real when he came in and failed to replace him with a goal scorer. At the end of that year not one Liverpool player had scored over 12 goals in the league!
  8. ... and if you were being offered the job with that track record would you see it as a vote of confidence in your appointment if your new boss was only prepared to give you a go for 9 months? I know what I'd do if someone did that to me. No we just say that we give our managers rolling contracts, like MON had. Houllier has been out of the game for a few years and he did a poor job at Lyon and left Liverpool with many poor quality players that resulted in a 5th placed finish the season after he left despite the aquisition of a player as good as Alonso. Houllier can be good and he can be poor. We simply don't know and I'd feel better knowing that he can be let go if we have an average season. Before he does more damage in the transfer market. I just want Jol and think we can get him next summer is all. Why settle for the best of an average bunch when we don't really have to. the fsw brought in Alonso. The thing is that team that finished 5th also won the Champions League that year? So I think that nullifies your argument! Also Houllier won back to back titles the two years he was there, the second by a record amount!
  9. I could see Houllier stay for the season and the move up stairs in some capacity!
  10. Find me a pundit who hasn't formally been associated with Villa that didn't take his side. Charlie Nicholas who I can usually tolerate called us fickle just last week on SS for 'turning' on MON. They will always side with the pro rather than the fans, it's just the nature of the business and not wanting to get sued Like it or not, in the public eye we're a club that has overachieved in the past few seasons rather than a fantastic club back to where it should be. And the general public, along with alot of Villa fans themselves attribute that rightfully or wrongfully to MON. I agree! It's pretty sick that so called pundits don't do the proper research!
  11. Any time Ive seen PT talk about Houllier he's always been very positive! I know it's only rumour but I think it could be a real possibility! That also being said he did talk Mons side when he left and was saying how we'd struggle to replace him. Whos knows?
  12. We need to get this sorted sooner rather than later. Stoke are brimming at the moment with their deadline day business, if GH is coming in the sooner the better!
  13. You've only just started your journey my friend!
  14. Watched it recently as well very disappointed!

  16. Talkshite * TalkSPORT understands Gerard Houllier has held discussions with Aston Villa regarding their managerial vacancy. Villa chairman Randy Lerner wants an experienced boss to take over following Martin O’Neill’s resignation last month and Mark Hughes, Alan Curbishley and David Moyes have all been linked with the job permanently. French football correspondent Phillippe Auclair confirmed the current situation on Football First saying: “I spoke to Gerard this afternoon and on the record he confirmed that there had been contact with Aston Villa and himself at the club’s behest and that yes, they were interested in hiring him as a manager “It seems that it’s not a done deal there are other candidates for the job and I don’t think there will be a decision taken in the next 24 to 48 hours as we thought originally. It’s going to take a little bit longer than that so we might have to wait until Thursday or Friday before we know who is the new Aston Villa manager. Auclair added: “This offer comes at a time when he has had enough of the criticism he has been taking in France for his role or non-role in the debacle of the World Cup and he is basically looking to get away from this.” “He loves English football he genuinely has a passion for English football it’s the football he feels closest to. He feels that he really belongs here and this is his proper football home rather than France. Nothing much really I think there is going to be more discussion but I don’t think anything is going to happen before the middle of the week at the earliest. Since O’Neill’s departure reserve-team manager Kevin MacDonald has been temporarily at the helm leading the team to two wins in three Premier League games. Clicky
  17. Think the bigg thing with Mon was that we had just finished 16th in the league, and Mon pretty much guarenteed we would be higher than that! Albeit only 11th as he played Ash out of position for 3 months! That being said we've finished 6th the past 2 seasons and I don't think Houllier guarentees better than that!
  18. On Kevin McDonald if he's first team coach 5. In the event that Aston Villa FC change the structure of their management team and do not call the appointed individual first team manager, Betfair will settle the market on the individual who is responsible for picking the first team. In the event of any ambiguity over the appointment, Betfair may determine using its reasonable discretion how to settle the market based on all the information available to it at the relevant time.
  19. Gen, Can I just say I have 1000% faith in the work yourself and Randy and co are doing. I know that ye are doing everything ye can to find the right man & I know ye will!
  20. To be fair everyone mentioned is cat! When Mon was appointed, what bad points could you have stated. Not half as many as everyone ben linked so far!
  21. He was in Milan the week previous. A club where Donadoni carved quite a successful career for himself!
