I agree.....but when he does come on he needs to be asking questions, when he is match fit, of course.

He needs to be showing a similar reaction to the play and positional sense that sessegnon shows, if he is to be rated as some do.

The young players need to step up to the plate when they do get a chance, not just make up the numbers.

He looked good before his injury. His goal against Norwich is still one of the best goals anyone scored this season. Superb technique

One of the things brought up in THAT article about his time at Sunderland is how he rushed back players after injuries, most notably David Meyler who got injured straight away again.

Hopefully Bruce has learned from this.

Surely he needs doctors clearance to play a player back from injury. They would have given him the ok?

  3. Seriously though. He put out a similar side to the one that went on a big run. That side should have beat hull. Some players need to take responsibility. Adomah snoddy and grealish were awful. Completely off the boil last few games. Burnt out? All three had two weeks off. They should be fresh. I can't understand it. Mentally they given up on second so they switched off now?

To be fair he did deliver our best run of wins in 27 years whilst Fulham are on the best run in their clubs entire history .

cardiff are also on their best run of wins in 72 years - Sod’s law both are doing it at the worst possible time for us:(

amazing isnt it. Just our luck.

  5. Whats going on? he was back in training before Kodjia and had the same 45 min in a closed doors friendly. Why isnt he getting a look in? Would rather he be coming on for Adomah than a 3rd or 4th striker..........

It wasn't a fluke but 4-1 wasn't a reflection of the game either. We had 4 shots on goal with 2 from set pieces.

yeah starting to think they were just really poor rather than us being very good. At HT it was 0-0 and very even. Things just went well for us for 15 minutes in the second half.

I agree the focus needs to be getting some good form back going in to playoffs.  If we're not careful we might have to start looking over our shoulders.

Luckily for us Derby and Bristol are in worse form than us so Playoffs should be secured.

Millwall are flying though. I think they will make the 6. Wouldnt want to vs them in the play offs either.

  8. Wonder what our best midfield duo are in terms of wins this season. My bet is Conor and Whelan. They give Grealish and co lots of protection and freedom to attack. Mile is good in some games but hinders are in others.

  9. yeah i was surprised he came on before Hogan. 30 minutes was probably a bit too much. He looked very unfit.

We resulted to a long ball game.. didnt suit his style of play. I hope we stick with 1 striker and not have 3 on at once. Even Bruce said after the match it didnt work yet he does it time and time again.

Well lets hope QPR was a wake up call to Bruce and he rotates in that period

dont buy that. What has Cardiff rotated? they have had the same players over and over. They dont get tired.

Agree with all that @KSV, but to nitpick, he has finished in second place twice. Once with blues (06/07) and once with hull (12/13).

That's not nitpicking that's correcting false information sir!

  12. The way the crowd was.. the players were. After that massive high.. we just weren't ready for another match. Nobody was up for this game. We expected to roll with the punches.. but you can't do that in the championship.

It's a one off most likely.. but unfortunately we have had too many one offs. Cardiff have won 7 in a row. Their not going to win another 9 in a row. Problem is we probably need to win 9 in a row to go above them now.

It's gone. Same with Fulham. They may have peaked too early for play off football. I hope someone knocks them out before we have to play them.

Bruce has four promotions. All four we're through the play offs. Never once automatic. Looks like we're going that way.

I mean, yes it was Lansbury who passed it to Bjarnasson.

But it's a bit generous to say he "picked him out" :D

Onomah would have dribbled into a defender to be fair

  14. We have a better goal difference than Cardiff and Fulham which helps. We have a few easier fixtures coming up where we should look to add to that.

I really dont see Brentford getting anything out of Cardiff. Nor Derby. Wolves-Cardiff drawing and us beating Cardiff will make it really interesting. Especially if Wolves slip up to Boro.

I know Wolves are playing some of the bottom sides in the next ten games... but I think that’s the worst time to play bottom teams. They have everything at stake so will fight for their life.

we got Hull Bolton and Reading to come too....

I've been looking at our results, it wasn't just the first 3 games, it was the first 7. We only beat Norwich in the middle, the other 6 we only only picked up 4 points.

7 points from the first 7 games, you don't realise how important each and every game is - even at the start of the season.

we've picked up 62 points from the 29 games since.  if we had that ratio from the off, we'd be on 77 points, above Wolves by 1 point - and it would have been todays game that took us above them.

we never do things the easy way. Its the villa way.

Weirdly I don't think he had a great game tonight.

But he got a goal an assist.

It's like I said before, it's similar to when we had Ashley Young in the Prem. Even if they have a bad game, they HAVE to play because they're capable of that one or two moments that produce something.

I thought he was superb in defence. Did more tackling and winning the ball than Taylor. Covered him really really well. Top top player. Love Alby.

  18. Wow. We win almost every game with him in the midfield. Whether its Mile Whelan or Bikir.. hes been the common denominator. Still gets stick. He does the tackling.. the closing down.. just watch him individually next game and see how much work he gets through.. even then he still has 9 goals and a few assists. What more do people want from him? Hes not Messi.

  19. Unsung hero in terms of off the field. Terry will get the plaudits for that.. but my word.. he looks a right character. Must be a joy to have around the place. Players must love playing with him.. he brings passion and backs it up on the field too. Terry 2.0 for this squad.

They can lose vs cardiff and boro, and still stay above us, the gap is seven points. Hopefully wolves now do their best against cardiff. We need Cardiff to lose a game or two before we play them.

Cardiff got some hard games now, away at Brentford, Derby, SheffU and us. Home vs Wolves.

We and Fulham plays the same five teams, also the same teams home/away. If we can take the same number of points as them in those five games we should finish above them. (Fulham have only four other games, we have five)

Dont think Cardiff will have any problems disposing of Brentford. Derby and Sheffield have fallen away now. Wolves is the big one. All we need is a draw there and we can take care of Cardiff at home. But we must keep winning. This is the issue. We cant afford to drop more than 1 game. Naturally there will be one or two upsets along the way for all the top 6.

Going to go to the wire. April will be really interesting. Wolves Cardiff and VIlla Cardiff.
