We still need a CB if Bruce doesnt trust Tuanzebe there. We cant go the rest of the season with Elphick and Mile. Suicidal.
I am hoping once De Laet returns.. he can push Tuanzebe in. But if this was the case.. wouldnt he have played Elmo at RB and pushed Tuanzebe and played Adomah on the wing instead of Elmo.
Tuanzebe doesnt seem to be an option for Bruce there just yet.
Kid plays against Bayern but cant handle Wigan?

That's rubbish. We may not have conceded with Whelan playing. 9 starts with Whelan 0 losses and counting
My point is.. he wouldnt have made that run in the 94th minute to score a winner. His record is irrelevant.

Thought he was ok.. 1 cross he came to get he completely missed it... and by far. Terrible. Other than that.. wasnt really tested. Slightly concerned but lets see how he goes.

Wasn't his best game.. but hourihane and Bikir are always good for a goal. Decent finish too in a crowded box. Made a great run in. Credit where credit is due. If that was Whelan we wouldn't have won.

Forget if hes shit or not... hes a bad egg. Trouble maker..
At least he could keep RMC happy.
Big no from me.

him and his brother are poor excuse for villa fans. No villa fan in their right mind would sign for them. Would have went to QPR personally.

Man Utd fans say he can play CB and DM but not as a full back.

Abraham starting tonight with Chelsea against Lyon..
was very much a reserve line up. Think the manager wanted to see the fringes in action. Wouldnt rule him out just yet.

Bunn was on the bench last night. Surely if he was out of contract he wouldn't have been in the squad?
why not play Moreira though.. I think he had a year extension.

He is rated really highly. I havent seen him.. actually i hadnt even heard of him before. I dont watch Scottish football as i think its a poor league (a league is enough shit to watch for me!)
Can he cut it in the Championship? they say his a powerful midfielder etc etc.. but hes short and weighs like 68 kg or something.
Is he the scottish version of Woods from Brentford or something.
Curious to see him play. I hope hes as good as Hibs fans think he is!

Not happy that Bruce said hes happy hes got Tuanzebe as he can fill in most positions. He should be first choice CB. We cannot go with Elphick the whole season. Unless we bring in Huth and Tuanzebe and Elphick are the back ups.

Hold on to what he said and see if we are playing with more intensity/pace/purpose/high tempo come the end of Sept/Oct/Nov.
It would be nice to see but I have my doubts given his previous history.
It will be very interesting.
but whos fault is that? Why are they coming with no intensity? Is it because of his tactics.. sit deep yada yada.. or is it the players hes picking Whelan Hourihane or is it because nobody is listening to him?
Whatever the reason.. he has to be responsibly. We started that slowly in the Final and couldnt recover. We cannot afford to start so slowly all the time. We need to be on the front foot. We have more quality than most teams even if Grealish goes.

I wonder if someone decided to get him against the wishes of the manager, who then threw his toys out of the pram after it went through and decided to get someone else instead - hence why we've signed another keeper so soon. It's interesting that Moreira wasn't even on the bench on Monday, although I don't know if lack of international clearance had anything to do with that?
i dont understand this theory. Not having a go at you but i have seen it alot on twitter etc.
Surely if this was the case.. the new owners would just not sanction the new keeper that Bruce brought in. Bruce said Moreira is one for the future in his interview. So i am guessing we have bought with a view to permanent after his loan.. so the money can count next season and not now. Hence the loan. Maybe Bruce thinks he will be a really good keeper but may need a season or two and then he and Nyland will swap.
Why he wasnt infront of Steer or Bunn... thats my question. International clearance? possibly. Not ready yet? still getting to learn his team mates? who knows. I would have at least had him on the bench.
Why did we sign him unless we are expecting Bunn or Steer to leave. If Steer is going.. why are we playing him? All interesting questions.. Steer happy to be back up to Nyland or even 3rd choice? I think a loan for Steer and Sarkic will happen in the next few weeks.

Read on here or Twitter a few times that we need to sell before his contract is up at the end of the season. His current deals expires in 2020.
I think its time for him to go. Lets face it.. hes losing his speed.. hes getting older.. we wont give him a new deal.. even if we are in the Championship. If we get an offer of 5-6 million.. be silly not to accept it.
He had a great year last year.. but you have to ask.. can he replicate that? or are we better off giving young Green his chance now.

we are after the danish left back from Ipswich Jonas Knudsen if we fail to get him. Cant say ive seen too much of him.
-
Hes just come back from 2 bad injuries.. barely played in 2 seasons and people are writing him off.
I would sell him if we had a decent offer though. Hes almost 30. High wages. Same with Adomah

Dare i say it. He is very overrated by Villa fans. I get it.. hes one of our own.. but if we get 40 million.. weve mugged them.
Hes a great player.. potentially to be very good.. but hes not worth that now. He has played half a good season for his boyhood club. Despite playing well.. hasnt really torn the Championship apart.. he gets fouled a lot and looks good doing it.
I do think however.... he will improve massively at Tottenham. More players on his wave length.. probably make him look better. Grealish also hasnt had a good manager in his career.. not one who could actually improve him. I bet Pochettino will bring the best out of him and he may be worth that price tag one day.
30-40 million.. considering hes not really proven in the Premier League over a full season or two... is superb money. Fixes our FFP and allows us to re build with Bryan McGinn Nyland Powell.. a few loans Abraham/Man City lad etc etc.
Its a win win all around. Villa will have a fresh start with no FFP woes with our new owners and we bring in 4-5 decent players.

From what i saw last Saturday, he will no doubt be out no 1.
I think he will be eventually. Jed will get first crack. Bruce always is fair that way.. you play well enough you keep the shirt (except for Bikir)..
Moreira played in the behind closed doors friendly and kept a clean sheet.. He wont get it straight away though. May be 5-6 rounds before we see him.. unless Jed plays a blinder this season
-
Think he may well end up at Chelsea with Abraham on loan to us.

agreed with your point of view about him, i'm respect him as good manager yet, I don't fan him for several reason i am sure i been blah blah about these in many thread i dont want bored you all with my details.
also i agreed i cant see T.Henry as our manager with our lack squad list.. to suit him that reason i cant see him success.. that reason I want Bruce stay rather Henry take over his job.. but any else manager i might like i would happy rid Bruce before season start, but it is seem too late.. be fair he should sack by end of last season... he did same problem and same solution he drop winning formula to lose formula "Bruce way" reason he wont accept winning way because it is not his style. I only accept his change was vs middlesbough which was right call to play Jedinak rather Brajansson, once through to play final bruce should drop him and back to play with brajansson which he was key to winning formula along O'houricane and Snograss, Grealish, Amobah in midfield. but bruce keep back to Glenn W. over Brajansson, (sometime Jedinik) which it is often result lost even Glenn pour and work hard, and it is don't work Bruce keep play him even lost and not work out... this reason Bruce finally accept back to Brajansson and it is boom to winning team again.
as i alway say "the good manager criteria" is who can adjust and improvise what current squad list, and understand their weak and strength to make better team rather "his way" in first of thing to do, that afterward once all thing go well that tweak it to manager way..
it is would work like this better rather stick manager way from start to end, my reason to rise these point is about him which i see bruce automanic go back his way after lose in winning formula, try his way and it often result which fail at villa, that why i think we should rid him.I agree too. Henry needed to take over start of pre season.. to bed his ideas and philosophy. 2 weeks out reminds me of when Houllier came and tried to change things quickly mid season.

I like Bruce. I think he's a decent manager and he knows the game and his style of play does work... But not at clubs like Villa. His tactics work better for small clubs.. who tend to sit back and let teams dominate because they don't have the quality in their squad. We have the quality in our squad.. and we should be the side dominating and taking it to teams. I think better attacking tactics would see us run over the league. To be fair we saw glimpses of it last season.. so I'm bewildered he just doesn't give them a bit more freedom. I guess it comes down to his mindset and tactics he's had for years. That's why I wished for change.. wasn't convinced Henry is the right man but if he had attacking ideas.. it may have benefitted us.

He's in Germany with the squad. In villa training gear. Avfc official site a bit slow. Maybe Dr Tony had villanho running it and he's been let go..
