The club's scouts will be scouting players, unless you think Bruce goes out and spots every transfer he makes?

I doubt he was scouting the Swiss league for Birkir Bjarnasson either but he signed him.

It's just a player I can't see him committing to. Just my opinion. I thonk the Henry rumours were legit and then got too much heat and thought few weeks out.. let's give Bruce a go. First sign of trouble he's gone imo. I don't think he has the say on transfers..  our next few signings will be telling.

What on earth do you mean by that ?

he wont be scouring the the Portuguese player.. and DOF is gone. Someone else is pulling the strings.

  3. After the meeting with the new owners.. he didn't speak to the media after the game. Now we signing non Steve Bruce players..

They trying to make him walk rather than sack him?

  4. Seriously.. this kid is ready. Maybe not to be a regular.. but a Davis like introduction to the side. He looks a shit load better than Gardner/Lansbury in a similar role. He is a younger version of Whelan but with attacking ability.

Yeah something was afoot going on media reaction. Might still be afoot. They must have made a calculated decision, that they maybe were not quite ready yet themselves. Good for the team though as Bruce knows he can be replaced any moment so you hope will throw caution to the wind. Transfers will be interesting, if any.

Yeah it just seems off putting.

Think its the other way around though. He will be scared to lose. Play off final tactics every match. My predicition is he wont be here in October.

  6. This is odd... those Henry rumours were serious..  no denials were being made and even Steve Bruce was worried.

Suddenly we have made a U turn.. kept Steve. Some brief statement saying hes staying and then Bruce refuses to talk to the media after the match? Maybe they are forcing Henry as his coach and he wasn't happy as he feels he will be forced out eventually. Who knows. Maybe its just me reading into it too much

  7. Jack wants to go. Dont believe because hes a fan he wants to stay. Think of it logically.

Spurs are competing for Premier League. They are in the CL. He could play with Kane Deli Ali (young englishmen around his age) Son etc.

Pochettino probably one of the best young managers around.

    Get into the England squad.

Probably triple his wages from 20-25k to 60-65k.

As apposed to playing in the Championship for his boyhood club with bang average players and we face FFP issues.

I think Henry coming in as manager would help as im sure he would have watched Henry growing up.. Belgium players ie Lukaku was saying what a massive influence he was.

Realistically.. Jack... you would be mad not to goto Spurs. I think his head has been turned. FFP was a great excuse for him to leave as a saviour of our club too in a way. He can go and avoid a Barry situation in the future.

  8. Surely there's a few ways around it. Sponsorship of the ground. Sponsorship of the Villa shop.. new sponsors at the ground on game day.. one of his companies could purchase 10000 kits and donate them to fans.. in all seriousness.. there has to be a few legitimate ways around it to at least require only to sell 10-25 rather than 40 million in players. Even 'mutually' terminating contracts like with the likes of Richards for free.. and he can be paid off by a different company..  something surely can be done rather than selling our best squad. Their statement said they wish to improve the squad. Even if we sell McCormack for 2 million. Tshibola for 1 million. It all matters. Fees in and wages saved. Last resort should be to sell grealish and Chester. Welcome bids for Kodjia Adomah etc to try get some sales.

Second richest guy in the middle east according to wikipedia.

Sounds like someone googled richest Arab and found a name put it on Twitter. Like the Ellison take over... Then we ended up with Randy. Linked with Jack Ma got Dr X.

Arab owners.. install Henry as manager? Why not...

I suspect come Hull we will have the same owner and half a team.

This unfortunately. Sad thing is we should be playing the young guys now to get them some fitness. Problem is our best kids are all injured.

Good example but I can’t see it happening with Albert

you never know. They will look at his stats and see he has scored 15 goals and got plenty of assists in the last few years. Might be a cheap punt for a side like Newcastle. Rather than spending huge amounts. I doubt we will get 6-7 million. Maybe 3-4M tops

What World do people live in?  No-one is interested in buying Richards, McCormack, Tshibola, De Laet etc. - and certainly not for the amount of money that we need to, apparently, raise.  It's only going to come from our better players and I'd guess that we're basically advertising this fact to get sales done early.  It's clearly a board directive.

No manager in the World wants to get rid of their best players and resign from their position.  Acting like a 2nd coming proclaiming he financially saved us :crylaugh:

yeah unfortunately we will have to wait till their contracts run out. End of this upcoming season. These players contracts will have ended and will ease the burden a little. Bit concerned Green doesnt have a new contract though.......... if we lose him on a free... ffs this club. Albrighton all over again.

So Simon Jordan is not currently in discussions to buy us.

That is indeed the best news I have heard this year.

to me implied he would be involved in some capacity but wouldnt be writing the cheques. Hes been talking about us alot and tends to imply that he knows a few things that he cant mention.

  14. Meh Johnstone wasnt that good.. he kept alot of clean sheets because he was barely tested. When we were he would usually concede. Steer will do a job if we can sort our defence.

  15. no big loss. Did nothing at this club. Recruitment has been awful. Over paid for average players and old players brought in. Where is this so called engine? Hiring a manager who will not bring these young guys through. Just plain dumb right across the board. Bye.

is that as Crazy as Xia asking for £60m now ? for a massive loss making, debt ridden football club ?

i think you would have more buyers at that sort of money as apposed to 250 million. Some clubs spend more on players these days. Villa is worth 60 million.. maybe not on paper at this stage.. but you would be mad to sell it for any less. Probably why Dr is trying to keep it.

Club was up for sale for around 2 years - in that time Lerner made around 2 statements. I really don't anything will happen that quickly - the probably shuffles any sale a little further along - but doubt there is a buyer yet ..IMO of course.

yeah but Lerner was asking for like 250 million or something crazy at one stage.
