It can't be a coincidence that yet again the 4 worst players on the pitch are the 2 full backs and the 2 central midfielders. His narrow formations just don't work.

Not that it's much better, but the window closes on the 1st September at 11pm this year. Loads of time then

Still can't understand what he has against playing wingers or at least wide forwards. A front 4 of Coutinho, Buendia, Bailey and Watkins would surely work better than what we have now
-
He's good at driving forward with the ball but defensively isn't good enough. If we play him he has to play where McGinn was playing. In all honesty we could do with an upgrade on both in there.

I see a clear risk of Purslow leaving it until the World Cup break. That would be after 16 games.
Me too, especially if he picks up a win or two to keep us just out of the relegation zone.

Has he been subbed at all this season?
Yes, just then.

Remember when Gerrard said that if wasn't playing well he wouldn't hesitate to drop him?

Right then, I'm off to put some money on Soucek being first goalscorer.

Really scary how little the average person seems to understand the issue. Every article I read has a comment section which blames the 'greedy suppliers' with very few realising it's the producers who are making the profits.
I just saw an article where Scottish Power are proposing to freeze the current cap for 2 years and the comments below are full of people who haven't read it angrily complaining that Scottish Power are proposing to freeze it after the price has risen again. Just read the headline and moan. When people don't bother to properly understand issues and just read whatever they want to believe it becomes so clear why we've had Brexit and a succession of terrible Tory governments.

I'm wondering if Leon's already been told he's on the bench again tomorrow, hence the outburst.
Yep, almost certainly the case. Seems like they may well try and force through a move now before the end of the window.

Unless I've added it up incorrectly, Gerrard has managed 38 league games with us (Inc the 3 games this season) and has accumulated 38 pts. 1pt per game, which is borderline relegation form. As some people have stated, he is on a downward trajectory as he was averaging a higher pts per game figure earlier in his tenure.
If he had joined this summer and achieved 38pts by the end of this season he would be sacked no doubt.
He definitely didn't manage us for 35 league games last season, that would have required Smith to have been sacked after 3 games.

I think there's a lot of wishful thinking going on here. If we were really after a new manager then we would be sacking Gerrard and focusing on appointing a new one, not buying players who may or may not be wanted by a potential new appointment.

Captaining McGinn and playing him next to Ramsey in the middle shows that Gerrard has absolutely terrible judgement. Are we really going to give him millions more to waste?

Surely they are going to attack the Kerch Bridge sometime soon? Must seem like an extremely juicy target for Ukraine.

Some fairly big explosions at Novofedorivka airbase in Crimea today...

Club announced yesterday he had a knock last week
Funny how the players that Gerrard clearly doesn't rate have knocks or niggles.

How has konsa started over him today, after last seasons performance’s, I just don’t understand it?
Quite simply because Gerrard doesn't rate him. It's the same reason Buendia will barely get a look in. Meanwhile Coutinho and McGinn will play every game no matter how poor they've been.

It's not just the fact he's pretty much the only player we have who is good in the air, it's that when he's not in the team you've got Konsa who doesn't come across as particularly vocal and carlos who can't really speak English. There's a reason he was captain and that's because he's the main organiser and leader of the team.

Whilst I enjoyed the Vitesse gag, the more reliable sources have put it at £20m.
Yeah, feels like the fee has defiinitely been leaked from our end. I would imagine Purslow may well have a relationship with Phil McNulty from his Liverpool days.

I see that the fee has been reported as both 15m with add ons and 20m. I can only presume it's 15m plus a very easily achievable clause. Something like an extra 5m after 20 Eredivisie appearances I'd imagine.

Can't help but think that the insistence that he wouldn't sign a contract because he wasn't getting enough first team minutes was a ploy by his agent to get him game time to put him in the shop window for a big money making move.

No one should get abused, but if you have looked through her Insta, it would obviously attract all the jealous weirdo types, an it comes with the territory, she should know that, its a cruel world. An to be fair, she doesn't get millions of followers because of her footballing skills, unfortunately.
Yeah but more importantly, is she aware she has an 11 page thread on VillaTalk?

Has anyone considered that this supposed counter offensive we've seen the last few days is actually just the result of twitter trolls exaggerating and it doesn't actually exist?
