If Baros was truly better than average then surely the rumours of a purchaser would include more clubs than us and West Ham. He is an average headless chicken who had a good Euro 2004. As has been said no better than our headless chicken Vassell.

The problem Ellis has is the BOARD have to make a decison about what is right for ALL shareholders. Ellis cansay what he likes the rest can recommend the bid to shareholders.......... The Meaning Evil seems to hint that they might just do that.

Listen folks... a manager who has already been 'done' by the FA for tapping up is hardly likely to say anything else..... he is probably trying to put off others calling about him. DOL isn't going to ring Fergiescum..... but if Smiths agent rings DOL who knows.

I would opt for Smith.... and at the risk of being shot at dawn.... would make him Captain!. Drive, determination and willing to bollock those around him, and it might make him control himself better with the responsibility.

I will be cheering for the possible salvation of AVFC..... so he could arrange to go now and then recieve the plaudits when he does 'drop off the twig'.... but he knows better than us men on the terraces.

We need to buy a natural leader which is something we are very short of. No, I don't know who, but surely our management team who are paid millions between them should have some idea..... and also a plan B if they can't get who they want.

What about Sammy Morgan?..... the way he clattered into Bob Wilson in the FA cup mach at the Arse before we did them well and truly in the replay. He was at the game today..... now as a centre forward he was class!!.... only just beating Andy Lochead mind you for his goal against Manure in the League Cup Semi in 1971.

It's called the Shareholders Association.... also the Suporters Trust do this. Price increases effect everyone. Shares give you the choice plus you then have a say (be it minimal) in the way the club is run and you do keep the shares and you could even make a profit.

Come on chaps...... this isn;t really serious but just an idea being floated. We have done similar before - NTL deal - (share options only then) that financed some of our biggest buys....... but Doug used the PLC money to buy then back if you recall before he had to issue shares and be diluted.

Nice idea mf........... my concerns only are that £llies could actually strengthen his position BUT if the money was used properly.... say only needs to be about £10m.... plus the £6m in the kitty and the more than that in the Summer announced by Brucey Bonus this morning could give DOL the 'pot of gold' = £20m+

Just an idea I'm floating around mf...... coz rather than the buy a player fund this is one way of making sure your money is protected... And you can go to the AGM and join the Shareholders Assoc.... what fun

Well it was by this very route that I became a shareholder in 1968. If Doug loves the club, and the manager, CEO and a non-exec director want outside finance why not try this first? Of course Doug will have his holding diluted...... but of course he could always buy some and thereby actually use HIS money for once in supporting the club.

And I suppose you can guarantee that no opposition supporters managed to get tickets for Villa sections? Of course not!... We all know, well those of us that attend, away supporters in home sections is more of a problem against the 'bigger' teams.
