I don't care who or how we score, just get a goal and cling on for the clean sheet!!!

I can see Norwich totally parking the bus today and being completely negative. They know by not losing would retain that 10 point gap and effectively end our participation in the relegation battle, leaving only two remaining spots to contend over.

Heart says 1-0 Villa, head says 0-0

Agree with you here but wouldn't it be nice to be at least two up against someone? Those were the days! Even though it's been awful this season, you still can't beat the buzz of a match day. Walking up to villa park is still a great feeling.

  2. As per earlier post, think we are capable of winning today and am optimistic. Still not sure about our chances of staying up though even if we win today.  Hope for the same back four as last week but do worry about where the goals are going to come from?  1-0 to the villa though. C'mon the lads - belief!

FFS you clowns, it even SAYS "jonathan king" in the first sentence of the article... :)

Hold my hands up here, as just got in, logged on and just saw the headline. Didn't even think to give it a closer look. Once bitten and never trust a mod.................joking of course!

Not sure why but feel quite positive about this game for once.  Presume Gestede and Kozak are out? It would seem harsh to drop anyone after they worked their socks off in the last game. 1-0 to us.

Absolutely. We have all praised his aggressive will to win and hard working attitude this season, its something all fans love to see, and whilst half our squad have seemed uninterested, his attitude has certainly stood out like a sore thumb in C&B.

Now that doesn't in anyway exuse his actions on Tuesday and I'm really not trying to do that, it was an absolutely brain dead moment that may have cost us a point or 3. But as you say, i think its been on the cards all year.

He reminds me somewhat of Wayne Rooney, or even Diego Costa, (not in anyway comparing them ability wise) in that I'm not sure your ever going to take that part of his game out of him. Its who he is, take that away and he'd lose a lot of what makes him the player we have all enjoyed watching.

What needs to change is his decision making, people will now have him marked as a player that can be wound up, he needs to realise this, grow up a little and learn to channel his aggression in a positive manner.

Agree with you here av1, Benteke too had this side to his game and I seem to remember him being sent off for some silly things. A lot of forward players have this side to them. At least he's accepted what he did was wrong and apologised but we will miss him though.

  6. Have to say the guy looks to be out of shape and short of fitness but if Gestede and/or Kozak are out, then surely we have no option but to play him do we?   I did think he started the West Ham game ok but then the game changed as we saw.

Didn't mean your previous post tomaspg, as you posted whilst I was writing! I meant the one from Nuremberg. Totally agree with you by the way. I imagine it was a false accusation.

    No he didn't.

He made a reference to his previous roles involving dealing with customers. Somebody in attendance got angry that he was calling fans customers and Hollis apologised immediately and clarified he was referring to his previous roles and not the Villa fans.

Thank you for clarifying and my mistake.

  9. Hollis certainly hasn't enamoured himself to the fans has he? He probably doesn't care one jot either. Listening to him a couple of times he no doubt sees fans or customers as he put it, as beneath him. Time will tell if he proves to be better than early observations but not a great start.

I'm just making it abundantly clear that there is no threat in the chant, nor were there any threats last night.

Except to Birmingham City fans. Which is again different, apparently. At least, those particular "vile death chants" have not been reported?

I made no reference to a specific chant nor last night! I wasn't there!! It is the Birmingham Mail who are stating that a chant was heard of "let's all have a party when Lerner is dead" or something to that effect.  The point I was trying to make and maybe poorly, is that I personally cannot condone death chants/threats (if any?) against an individual.

  11. Not wishing to back Lerner in any kind of way here but wishing him dead? Really? We are better than that surely! Have no problem with singing Remi Garde's name, sack the board, boo etc but death chants/threats - not for me!  He wants out so why should he continue to put his own money into it? I get the protect your investment stuff but we did at least invest in the summer but obviously some of that investment was wasted. He wasn't the scout/scouts that suggested some of the playing duds! Perhaps they need to shoulder some of the blame? Finally, I also agree that his manager choices have not been great since he came but they too I think have let Lerner down. It's not one person to solely blame here but a catalogue of errors made by numerous people.

  12. Not sure if we are just reading him wrong tonight? He has just watched his players give everything and we just couldn't hold on.  I would be pissed off if I was him.  If he is still here on Saturday he needs every fan chanting his name!
