  1. Pretty unheard of when we took him, few seasons later, appears to have turned into billy big bollocks.  Happy to see the back of him and very much doubt that we will hear much of him in the coming years.  Delusions of grandeur.

  2. Sadly I don't think we will now see the best that Veretout has to offer.  Think he will go in the summer, but I still believe there is a player in there and someone else will benefit.  Shame, as quite liked watching him.

  3. With all the money available to clubs next season, someone will take him off us for £1m or £2m surely?  Back to Swansea maybe?  Hope so anyway, as not the type of player we want around the team next season.

  4. YYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!   GET IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, the wife has just given the thumps up to a Chinese takeaway tonight and I got carried away.

  5. When some one has been at a club for twenty odd years they should be considered a cult hero, but instead there is disappointment and in some cases hatred.  Sadly, this is how he will be remembered now by many fans.  A real shame, but in truth he hasn't been good enough for a number of years and he hasn't helped himself.

The reality is that if we change the majority of our squad we will be even weaker than what we are now.

There is no chance that we would get promoted if we rebuild the majority of our squad for the season ahead.

Keep the core, remove the bad eggs and support the team with some new players.

Have to disagree with you here, in that we have no core, we have no spine to build around!  I think we have to basically start again and that doesn't necessarily mean that we will be weaker.  If we don't remove the bulk of this squad the culture/ losing mentality won't change.  In all honestly I wouldn't particularly miss any of the current group and would be more than happy to support a new team.

Think we should nominate away player of the year

Not a bad topic to discuss actually Richard. Amongst all the crap with our team this year you have to applaud some of the away team performances at Villa this season - Man City, Liverpool, Arsenal and stand out for me Watford, as they came and had a go, when we were trying to get out of the mess.  Stand out individual performance for me was the Man City kid who scored a hatrick. Not even going to try and type his name though.

  8. Can't even be bothered to do a suggested/preferred team.  Reading this thread shows how much we are in a mess where no one even thinks that we can keep the score below 2 or 3 goals.  Another crap weekend with a 4-0 score line to Utd.  Maybe we will get a corner?

When you consider the condition of the board at Blues and what their manager has  acheived.

    it makes you wonder?

I still and have and always felt...........Its the manager and his staff, that is really the crucial bit.

Ron Saunders had a s*** board.

Would completely agree with you here TRO. A good manager and his team with 55m should have kept us in the division. Some managers work with pennies and still find a way to get results.

  10. As I said yesterday, my first choice would be Dyche, but paying compensation again would be ridiculous with so many managers out of work.  I would be more than happy with Moyes though, as he must want to prove his doubters wrong.  I also wouldn't be disappointed to hear that Monk or Rogers had got the role.  We must surely still be an attractive proposition to many managers.

The trouble with the players is that they have got used to losing. They think its the thing to do now.

The trouble with the players is that the majority don't care!  I can accept being second best/not as good as your opponent, but lack of guts and effort is criminal.  Big clear out required of the first team squad and then change the culture around the place.

  12. Really hope they win it as it's refreshing to see someone else up there.  Whether it be skill, luck, and/or playing without fear, they deserve it!  I for one applaud them.  Only warning for Leicester is things can change so quickly in football, as no doubt Blackburn shows this to be the case.  Former champions and now adrift in the Chamionship.

  13. It appears to have been a good start from Hollis but the proof of how good his ideas and implementation of plans are will surely be our next couple of transfer windows! Just hope Krulak isn't too much of a hindrance to him though.

  14. I would have no problem with Moyes to be honest and think he would be a good appointment.  Wouldn't rule out Rodgers and Pearson being interested in us though.  However, my personal preference for the job would be Sean Dyche, proven at the level we are at, but doubt we will want to pay out even more compensation.
