  1. Yeah he is,why? Still a talented lad with a good left foot. May be worth the gamble? As someone who has seen a lot of Beasley I can say that he's talented but he has to be in the right system or he looks like crap. He thrived in PSV's 4-3-3 playing left forward. He is also useful at left winger in a 4-4-2. Man City wasn't really a good fit for him because he needs a quality passing midfielder like an Arteta to bring out the best in him. He makes really intelligent runs and can finish(actually I should say he's an excellent finisher) when he gets into the area. He gets knocked off the ball too easily if he doesn't get it in space. Here's a clip from his best season at PSV where they went to the CL semis. See if you can find Bouma in there Since then he's had a ton of injuries so that's the drawback. I can guarantee if Villa got him there would be plenty of fans that would hate him because he plays like such a lightweight
  2. Sidwell is a totally different style from Lampard. He's similar to Mikel and would be competing with him and I bet Essien would take over more of a playmaking role if Lampard left.
  3. I think Doyle could play at most clubs and Shorey is one of the better left backs in the Premiership, other than them and Sidwell I agree. Coppell is the manager of the year.
  4. He's had injuries plus they have Micah Richards at right back. I think he's played right winger some too.
  5. Muntari would be a great signing but I think there are going to be a lot of clubs going after him. Whatever happens I trust that Martin OR neall will make the right decision.
  6. But Jenas is a free kick specialist! He can kick them farther than anyone else! Didn't think anyone would take me seriously, I've seen them both play this year and they're the worst that came to mind.
  7. No Superbowl(sorry, the one Brady won while he was there doesn't count for him) and his stats aren't overwhelming. Dan Marino was a great QB with great stats that never won the Super Bowl. Drew was merely a pretty good QB that never won one.
  8. Hannover is pretty good this season- they're fighting for an UEFA Cup spot. Correct me if I'm wrong but he's even smaller than Maloney for example? He would have to be strong to play center mid in the prem.
  9. Why would you want Reo-Coker? He has been such a poor player for West Ham, I'd say one of the major reasons they're terrible this year. Yes, he's a great talent that has a good game every now and then but how long before he matures into a great player?
  10. The fact that they have Sidwell for 4 mill makes me wonder how reliable they are as a source.
  11. personally, i think the midfield is at fault for both the defence not coping and the strikers not scoring... the midfield is far too static, and offers no cover and protection for the defence, but also offers no support for the attack... although i do think that we need to improve ALL areas, i just think that the midfield is a priority.... Agreed there and I think Steve Sidwell would improve both the defence and attack. He should be the #1 priority in the summer. Even with Reading's great season he's still largely undervalued and would instantly be one of the best players on the squad, and for free.
  12. Whoever your all time best is I guess....Jim Brown is considered by many to be the greatest American Football player of all time. We haven't won anything since he retired.
  13. I'm a fan of Onyewu's but I hope he plays on Wednesday because he'll be foul prone until he figures out what the refs in the league will allow him to do. He's really big and strong and tends to overpower his opponent.
  14. Standard de Liege in Belgium. It was reported on Friday that he was going to Marseille but today the Standard website says that isn't a done deal and he's in Newcastle. He's an American International player.
  15. I guess I'll root for the Colts. Maybe Peyton Manning will finally get some endorsement opportunities if he wins the Super Bowl.
  16. Youngs a winger. I know but still he doesn't compare to those players.
  17. I saw the Watford manager being interviewed and he is way way way out of line in his expectations for selling Young. I realize he doesn't have much support but the kid only has 3 goals and it's a big risk to pay 9 million for him. Berbatov was 2nd leading scorer in the Bundesliga and he went for 2 million more than that. Andy Johnson at least had success in the premiership and he went for 8.5? Kuyt was 2nd leading goalscorer in Holland and he went for 9 million. Ashley Young for 9 million is a joke. You compare the prices in August to now and it's ridiculous.
  18. Where did you get the 30-40 million figure? I may have missed something but I didn't hear a number quoted, let alone one that high. If anything MON was trying to temper expectations heading into January.
  19. I was watching SSN over here and they were showing the headlines from the papers and there was one that said something like "Liverpool prepared to sell Crouch to fund Villa purchase." It turned out to be David Villa, not Aston.
  20. I'd rather have Bent unless Berbatov comes along with Defoe. He's the main reason Defoe has found his scoring touch again. Berbatov has to be a striker's dream to pair up with.
  21. Looking at his numbers the last few years, he had 21 goals in league 2, 23 in league 1 and now 10 goals this year between the championship and the league cup. He just turned 23.
  22. He's tall. If he keeps scoring how average can he be? His overall game might be average but if it leads to goals is it worth it? It's like the Beckham conundrum, he's very average but his one skill leads to great chances and goals. Beckham is good on free kicks, Crouch is tall.
  23. FIFA 07 is much much much better than last year's. I think it's worth at least renting if you're a FIFA hater just to see how the gameplay has improved. Last year you could be playing with Ronaldinho or Peter Crouch and not notice any difference between the two. The 07 gameplay is so much more diverse between set pieces, the new passing, dribbling tricks, tactics, more ability to do different shots, etc. If you have Beckham on free kicks you have a better chance of scoring, if you're Gabby Agbonlahor some slow centerback isn't going to run you down on a break away. Basically the players skills are noticeable and closer to what you'd expect. My one concern is that in manager mode the results not involving your club seem to be unrealistic this year. I played a season with Villa and I was fighting with Watford to win the league. The usual contenders like Chelsea, Man Utd were mid table. Then when I would play them Chelsea/Man Utd would be very tough to beat and I would thrash Watford. I laughed out loud when Peter Crouch scored and did his robot dance.
