  1. Sneijder is in Thailand with Bouma for a week on national team duty, he will be brainwashed claret and blue by the time Freddie has finished with him.
  2. Alphonso Alves anyone?http://www.tribalfootball.com/article.php?id=41451
  3. I think the main thrust of TRL's point was that signing the likes of Simao is getting ahead of ourselves slightly. Quite apart from the fact that, as I said above, I don't think he'd look twice at us at the mo'. It's a bit like putting a Ferrari body on a Rover chassis. Let's get the chassis right first I think that Villa now has a classy chassis and a vehicle that is ready to be a serious contender Bof, what we need now is the equivalent of Alonso and Hamilton to come in and drive us onwards and upwards.
  4. If he doesn't go for at least a couple of foreign targets them Fitzgerald is going to be querying the thousands of airmiles and hotels that Mon, Ian Storey Moore and other scouts have been claiming expenses for.
  5. Never heard of him so went to the best place for scouting.... ermmm he looks and plays like a beast!!!! and has a sweet right and left foot and it seems that he likes to push forward I've just watched the video and we could do worse than splash the cash on 3 Ajax players. Would that make us Ajax Villa?
  6. One things different though ian, Barry is twice the player that he was two years ago.
  7. Barry has the form and the class.
  8. Little sam is reportedly looking for a replacement for Kevin Nolan, how about high jacking Big Sams expected offer? Is he good enough after a quiet season by his standards?
  9. Bouma will be on the plane to Thailand tomorrow with the Dutch squad handing out brochures of Bodymoor Heath and giving a carefully rehearsed sales pitch on behalf of Mon and Aston Villa. We will then sign the whole of the Dutch national team in the next ten days. Sorted!
  10. Craig Gardner is as hard as nails and players like Barton would just bounce off him, and yet he is a genuinely nice guy at the same time. You don't have to be vicious to be a feared footballer.
  11. If that statement isn't a come and get me MON then I don't know what is!! Interestingly enough according to People and other Sunday papers off OS most of the players mentioned ..Taylor, Naismith, Gordon, Bellamy, McShane plus NRC are all being chased by MON. Just a question, if Mon is strongly interested in the half dozen players listed above, what about the numerous scouting trips abroad by Mon, ISM et al. Just how long is his list of top class and squad players?
  12. ha ha ha,not a chance.he's 1 of the best players in europe. and Villa intend to be one of the best teams in europe. for sure but do you not think its a little early for Totti and the like..dont get me wrong i wouldnt mind it. You may well be right fran, but this club is going places and Mon will not settle for second best.

  14. Read Ian Storey Moores interview again fran, it will set your mind at rest.
  15. General,as a commander of fighting men you know the value of a battle hymn, anyone who has heard the kop at Liverpool singing "you'll never walk alone" will testify to it's effect on big occasions. We at Villa lack this kind of an anthem. If you have ever listened to the BBCs annual Last night of the proms you cannot have failed to be moved by the rousing rendition of the "English anthem" Land of hope and glory that always closes the evening, it is awesome. The poem is about pride and history in the land that we call home. With that in mind I've adapted a version that I believe could be sung loud and proud by Villa fans. LAND OF HOPE AND GLORY, MOTHER OF THE FREE, HOME TO ASTON VILLA, HOLTE AND TRINITY, repeat HOME TO ASTON VILLA, HOLTE AND TRINITY. WIDER STILL AND WIDER SHALL OUR FAME BE SPREAD, GOD WHO MADE US MIGHTY, MAKE US MIGHTIER YET, repeat GOD WHO MADE US MIGHTY, MAKE US MIGHTIER YET. LAND OF HOPE AND GLORY, MOTHER OF THE FREE, BURNING BRIGHT OUR FUTURE, PROUDEST HISTORY, repeat BURNING BRIGHT OUR FUTURE, PROUDEST HISTORY. You have to listen to a tape of the proms as I have been doing tonight to feel the full spinetingling impact of thousands of voices singing this to the tune of Elgars Pomp and Circumstance. I guarantee General if you were able to have this embellished and recorded by a male voice choir and then played it at the opening of the Holte End hotel you would bring the house down! (perhaps not the best choice of words given the hotels recent history). Villa fans need a positive voice in the stadium General and what better than the proudest and most rousing anthem that the English possess.
  16. Out of order Villafan! McCann did his best for us and if his best is not now good enough then there is no need to abuse a player who always gave 100 percent for us.
  17. I love Milners' attitude and ability, but surely Ashley Young has made right wing his own position with the way he finished the season. Im sure i read somewhere that Ash said he prefers playing on the left!!! so maybe next year it might be... young..........barry.............nrc..............swp awesome and julieb i agree that those prices are a bit conservative and didnt realise it was that much....randy will have to dig deep this summer!!! YES! That is it, go and put that midfield together MON! There's going to be blood spilt at Bodymoor Heath because Gardner has promised to fight any new signings for a place in the starting line up. He's been seen pounding the streets of Brum in the last few days so he's definitely going to be up for it!
  18. I love Milners' attitude and ability, but surely Ashley Young has made right wing his own position with the way he finished the season. Ashley's favourite position is wide left. If that is the case and he can cross as well from the left as he has from the right then we should buy Bentley for the right wing job. Now that would tie a few teams up in knots!
  19. I love Milners' attitude and ability, but surely Ashley Young has made right wing his own position with the way he finished the season.
  20. What about Berger and Maloney? Forgot them it gets better! I actually included Maloney in my upfront suggestions Jagielka Gardner Osbourne Barry Taylor Young Sneijder Reo Coker Berger Petrov Maloney A team of prospective Villa midfielders.
  21. There is only one stat that they can say makes them currently bigger than us and that is their 52000 crowd as opposed to our max of 42500, but that will be put right in the next couple of years when our magnificent new north stand is built. for some odd reason - players keep on going to newcastle despite where they finished in the season. weird??? Massive wages?
