  1. Dont get me wrong, I have been hugely impressed with lerner, or at least with his PR, and from the little i know of all the bids, which could be written on the back of a stamp tbh, I think he's the best choice. He isnt some kind of demi god though, just a businessman Well said PB, he is "just a business man", and that is what I find most encouraging.
  2. Evening all, I've just enjoyed a roast dinner and a quality bottle of Rioja so forgive me if I sound smug. In my opininion there is only one possible satisfactory outcome to this takeover and it will happen soon, Lerner will take charge with a bid this week. I don't want a consortium of investors arguing for years to come over whose turn it is to anti up the cash, I want the chairman of one of the most successful financial institutions of recent years (MBNA) to say to O'Neill on a twice yearly basis, what funds do you need to bring the best available players who are prepared to come to Villa, in order to move the club forward. This is what ENIC have been doing for Spurs for the last three years, and this can only be done by an owner with the ability to use the banks' money at the best rates to secure a dramatic increase in the future revenue of AVFC. Remember Lerner will buy Aston Villa lock stock and barrel, and he will be putting his reputation on the line. He is not used to failure, nor will he fail this time. Now, I've got a bottle of Cote du Rousillon at room temperature so forgive me if I am slow to reply to those of you who I am sure know far better than me. Cheers.
  3. Ellis has a duty to safeguard the financial wellbeing of Aston Villa. If he waits for a new board to be in in place it could be too late to avert a potentially disastrous season. Even if he appoints MON today it is still cutting things fine. The media induced euphoria about potential bidders shouldn't make us forget how badly the same players performed under Dol and Aitken last season. To do nothing would be a dereliction of corporate duty, and remember MON is happiest with a one year rolling contract so it would be easy to sort amicably if the new owners wanted to appoint their own man. So...just tell me why Ellis dont sit down and negotiate with a new owner and get any deal done right now? I think that it isnt good for AVFC that Ellis chooses to appoint his own manager...no matter who...before any deal is done with the parties interested in buying Villa. He is stalling every deal...FACT! My own gut feeling is that the only bid that could be done quickly enough to have a new manager in place by the start of the season or at least before the transfer window closes, would be a cash bid by Lerner if it is made in the next 48 hours. As Lerner has made it clear that Mon would be his manager of choice this might be an indication of things happening behind the scenes.

  5. Thanks for getting my day started with a really good chuckle. The idea of a Villa fan worrying about what will happen after £100 million invested in 6 months is priceless. Thanks mykeyb.
