  1. I wonder if he knows or has spoken to big John Carew about the club, fans, facilities etc?
  2. A key thing here is that for Randy to have sent a jet over to Norway for Ole then 1. Molde must have given us permission to speak to him, and 2. He must have told them he wants to speak to us. All positive stuff.
  3. If you look at the ex-manure players who played their football totally under Taggart they have a real insight into the game. Solskjaer and Gary Neville (who I think is going to make a superb manager) being two obvious examples. It's the shit dinosaur old-school ex-manure players who were part of a get pissed, sheepskin coat era and have played partly under him but under other managers who have become awful managers- Robson, Strachan, McLeish, McGhee, Bruce (i'm sure there's others).
  4. He seemed to survive a dressing full of such egos as Cantona, Keane, Bruce, Pallister, Robson, uber ego of Hughes, Taggart, Sheringham, Cole. Don't know enough about him to judge his ability to manage, but to say he's a pussycat just because of his outward nature is a bit strong.
  5. ???? In what language was this conversation? I can only assume they used this man to translate... PETER..... YOU'VE LOST THE NEWS!?!?!?
  6. They only way I can see that Lerner and Faulkner are now saying they want a quick/swift appointment is if they have targetted someone for a while now. afterall, last season they took a while and we got that useless prick. Season before took an age and we got poor old le frog with his dodgy ticker. I reckon it's a done deal for someone, and it's a case of dotting the i's and crossing the t's.
  7. H&v said claret n blue scarf, so maybe an Ex west ham player/manager... Di canio Or Dare i say- arry
  8. Assess the squad, selll dont fit, you want out, get in who youwant/can get, play to their strengths. Then target players you want who can bring something more finesse, marquee, more in line with what you want without compromising the balance and ethos of what got you there. I know I go on about Arsenal but as great as Wenger is, he compromised on the squad strength to play pure football which in such a hard league, physically, has cost them. If, like Ferge, he replaced the vieras, petits like for like then they would have won so much more. Fergie always plays to tthe strength of his team, hence why, despite being poor squads by their standrds, manure still win things. Know your squad. Know their strengths, weaknesses. Play to that, then change things slowly over a position of strength.
  9. simply put I would play to the squads strengths. Yes it may mean short term playing MON style but then intergrate players ndsa philosophy that meant more a football stance without going all substance over purpose. Wengers title winning Arsenal had a great balancdeof playing football but could go toe to toe if required, win ugly, and were a powerful team nowadays his teams aplay far more wonderful football, but overplay, lack that power, purpose. That his what I mean by purposefcul football.
  10. think the best we'd get for Delfouneso would be a sell on clause in his contract .. just in case he does come good If Delfouneso comes good I will donate £100 to VT. Poor mans Vassell at best.
  11. So Faulkner says he is going to consult football people regards the next manager. Tip for you Paul.. do NOT open any letters with an Old Trafford stamp on them FFS!
  12. Exactly what I thought when Norwich got him. Please all stop this 'good football' thing regards Martinez. What we NEED is WINNING football. That means sometimes you have to play ugly. Fergie's done it for years when needed to. Lambert would be a real coup I think, maybe not in the eyes of alot of supporters but I think within the game people would really sit up and take notice again. If we don't take a risk on these 'up and coming managers' then we are stuckk with the stale old guard types such as McLeish, McCarthy, fat sam.
  13. Faulkner's statement is pretty usual club talk but bloody hell Lerner's sticking the boot into the useless ****!? Wonder if you've torn that letter from Sir Pissedalot yet randy?
  14. Bye Alex. Nice man from what people I know have said who've met you. Sadly, you just aren't good enough. I admit I didn't want you due to your reputation and evidence of woeful football and an inability to rally the troops and galvanise a club. But I gave you a chance. Wanted you to prove me and everyone wrong. You would have, could have been a Villa legend, as you'd not only had been a success here but pissed off the sty dwellers in the process. But you sadly proved us right. Even with an easy run of games at the start you couldn't resist woeful, negative, turgid, tactless 'football.' Take Grant with you on the way out.
  15. Hearing Peter Grant's been handed his P45 as well. Am off to get a very very very large celebratory scotch!
  16. SSN BREAKING NEWS - Awkward scenes at Bodymoor Heath as Alex McLeish reverses his Mercedes into Paul Lamberts Jag.
  17. Erm, you do realise that West Bromwich is part of Birmingham, so it definitely qualifies as a Birmingham derby, no mater how much they hate to admit being linked to the city of Birmingham. As for Small Heath Allience, a nose I know who works in corporate insurance was told in March by the late nose president Jack Wisemans son that Yeung WILL go down, that they WILL go into administration, that they WILL be deducted points next season, and that thee club is in danger of dropping further down, and their existence is in danger.
  18. and bringing Fergies pinion into the equation just proves it to me. he is saying 'these guys know nowt, I'l dazzle them with Sir Alex talk'.to convnce them to give me job/keep me on, or if they dont I have a big player backing me to get compo. McLeish, you corrupt ****!!!
  19. I think he nows he is gone and his comments breach his contract thus they sack him and he sues over unfair dismissal. Good guy? As proved with his walking out the blues via email to join their main rivals, the man is a cold, calculated viper.
  20. Just because someone is Mr 'Aston Villa' does that really make them qualified for the managers position, should it be long-term thinking?! Really!? REALLY!?! (and for the record, Sid is far far more Mr Aston Villa than MacDonald) It is about finding the BEST man for the job. Now granted Lerner's track record is pretty shit at this so far. BUT I'd say that if he felt KMac was the right man he'd had offered the top job to him when he was in charge for those run of games last season. Something which, I think, is the one managerial decision Lerner has got right.
  21. Chris Rock said it best: "We can't have gay marriage 'cause marriage is sacred, it happens in the church. Marriage is sacred, it's sacred. No, it's not, not in America, not in a country that watches Who Wants to Marry a Millionaire? and The Bachelor and The Bachelorette and Who Wants to Marry a Midget. Get the **** outta here. Shit, Michael Jackson got married, how **** sacred is that shit? Gay people got a right to be as miserable as everybody else."
  22. So you'd rather give the job to unproven coaches just because they have connections to the club than guys who have managed at clubs longer than a few games (in KMacs case) or not at all (Sids case)? There is just no logic in your statement at all.
  23. Jesus wept he really said that?! Talk about sticking two fingers up to 1. his squad of players 2. the club supporters. Just **** off McUseless.
  24. Sounds all very Houllier/Gary Macish with the 'we'll sit down and talk next week', 'planning to bring players in etc.. Bye Eck. Shut the door on your way out.
