  1. I still have a feeling that all these names are a smoke screen. Why take this amout of time chatting to managers OUT of work and using a headhunting company? Why would you have to 'head hunt' a guy kicking his heels in between picking up his dole cheque? No, I still think Randy is after a guy who is currently employed and these names being bandied about are a smoke screen. It makes no sense IF we get a guy in who isn't working OR give it full time to a guy already at the club. If that is the case then really, the board have handled this whole thing very very poorly. Say what you like about Deadly but if he wanted a man he'd go get him and pay the compo.
  2. No mention of the treble then :?: Ask a Villa supporter to give an opinion on O'Neil and pretty much come up with some of that other than no trophy's and did about as good as Gregory . Hey they aren't my words MM! Just those of a guy who's a lifelong Dippers supporter. Of course only the title and Euro Cup matter to them, so anything else in their eyes is failure. FSW lasted as long as he did due to Kudos from the CL win. Personally, I think the English game has moved on from the days when Houllier was manager of redscouse. Whoever it is of course I'll give the guy a chance, so we'll see...
  3. Just asked a mate who's a dippers supporter about Houllier. This is his text reply- "He's a manager with big ideas but no possible way of executing them. You would want to sign Ashley Cole but end up with Rigobert Song. You would want to sign Robinho but end up with Titi Camara. He got turned down for various other Premier league jobs over the years (Newcastle springs to mind), and I think Randy would be selling out a bit if he took him on. Best bits of business he did was McAllister and Barmby."
  4. **** it. Go get big Eck. Just to piss the noses off! hahahaha
  5. Getting Houllier in as a DOF type could work in that he was part of the set up that brought through all the great pool of French players. However him as DOF with MacDonald for me wouldn't work. I think MacDonald tactically is not up to the task sadly, and I think if Houllier is making decisions on tactics then just make the bloke fecking manager!? Houllier? Average at best. And even that puts him ahead of some of the names mentioned. I guess at the end of the day if you have the right crop of players that is a ig help. Gullit won trophies at Chelsea, and he is an awful awful manager. I'd say the word for most of these names linked is... Uninspiring. I'm sure alot at the club are tinking the same as well.
  6. Didn't Houlliers's Liverpool get arse raped by MON's Celtic. At Anfield? I hope he's learnt from then. And can find a Robbie Fowler to bail him out in games. Whoeer it is HAS to come in as manager, not DOF. The thought of Kev Mac dealing with tactics after his first choice midfield being the lightweight combo of Petrov and Ireland isn't a confidence filler.
  7. KM has been coaching at the club for 15 years and took 3 weeks to decide to throw his hat into the ring. Doesn't strike me as a man with the fire in his belly or ambition to take on the pressure pot that is a premiership managerial role. A respected coach who perhaps deserves to be more involved in the first team? Yes. Manager? No.
  8. Ah, narrow it down please The buzz new escape of the rich and famous of Europe of the last couple of years. A bit cheaper than Monaco. Fecker Sardinia? Sandbanks innit! he's gone to speak to twitching 'arry!
  9. 19 days in football is a lifetime Means nowt. Hodgson on the beebs world cup coverage stated when asked bout being linked with Liverpool that he was happy at Fulham etc... 2 weeks later he was unveiled as Redscouse boss. Much to the annoyance of MON... haha
  10. **** me, if you think we've had it tough over the years and should have been grateful regards MON then those lot are ungrateful c**ts and will really see what a top top manager Moyes is when he eventually goes. Maybe they can get the likes of Walter Smith, Mike Walker and Joe Royle back. Personally, over hte same period DOug recruited far better til Moyes joined them. Come to Villa David and see what you can do with a few quid behind you
  11. I think the General is saying that we'd do things properly rather than approach a manager behind his clubs back, rather than dismiss a guy in employment. He hasn't dismissed us approaching a club about a manager in employment at all. Personally, I think we'll make a formal approach to Everton very soon, if we've not done so already.
  12. I don't mean Hiddink as such, just saying that with a man renowned as a football Mr Fixit in Harris then it seems we're looking at someone that we, as a supporters, think we've no chance of getting. Did anyone think that we'd get MON at the time? And wasn't Harris instrumental in getting Randy? And I'd say MON too? So I think that we will be very nicely surprised by who we get in. And the 2 weeks break is perfect for a number of reasons. IF it is a man currently working for a federation then it allows him to contractually abide by the next 2 internationals and if it is a man currently at a club (and I believe it's one of these 2 options otherwise why involve Harris?) then he has a break to allow us to deal with the other club properly AND allow them a period to search for a replacement.
  13. Randy was sat next to Keith Harris at the game. Now I think Harris has some major contacts within the game which suggests to me that whoever Villa go for Harris will be involved in the negotiations, whether they be with the managers current club or football association. Which in turn makes me think that it won't be the likes of Southgate, Brown etc. as surely Randy wouldn't need a major player in the world of agents and negotiations as Harris if he was approaching the Roy Keanes, Gareth Southgates or even the Gerard Houlliers of the world? I think it'll be someone we'll be very pleasantly surprised over. Maybe a Hiddink?
  14. Judging from that statement I think a few quid on Houllier and Sven too.
  15. Looks like Keith Harris to me.
  16. A wild wild guess here, and yes hungover so call me completely mad but.... With Randy's apparent friendship with Klinsmann, and talk of Randy looking at a young coach/manager who will continue the ethos of bringing youth through and build something with, and that he is flying to europe today, then maybe, just maybe he has been thinking and had word from Klinsmann that a friend of his may be available and willing for a new challenge. That man? Joachim Loew. Just a wild guess too.
  17. Immature? Think you mean premature :winkold: OOps! haha
  18. VERY PREmature to want Kev Mc to get the job full time after one game. What I will say is in this one game he had Villa playing a far more 'Brian Clough' style than the man who has been compared to Cloughie ever did get us to play.
  19. Was you watching Ian Wright? Terry Venables? And all you over media whores and pals of O'Neill who were spouting utter bollocks about Villa being a club in turmoil, a club where the players and dressing room was split? That we'd do nothing and decline without MON? Well were you? WERE YOU?!?

And Petrov didn't tire after an hour today! See what happens when the ball does the work and we pass the thing, rather than hoof it and chase constantly. We actually kept possession today! A big well done to everyone from the players to McDonald.

I've been banging on about it for 18 months now that this team, this squad, IS good enough IF they are allowed to play football and not HOOF HOOF HOOF!!! Brilliant, an absolute joy to watch. And Marc Albrighton gets an 11. everyone else a 10. Special mention to Ciaran Clark. Never put a foot wrong today in only his 2nd premiership start. And well done to Blackpool! Chuffed for them.
  22. Oi oi Redknapp is coming up on SSN, so we're bound to hear who the new manager will be as that melted face gobshite will talk about all and sundry!
  23. I'll donate a tenner to VT if it's Bradley. Not a cat in hells chance. The board know they have to get a manager in who they feel will at least keep us up there challenging for a european spot, if not move us on. Bradley to me, whilst being impressive in basically knock out games, has no real impressive CV when it comes to a long slog of a season.
