  1. If he has yet to make a formal offer for anyone, then it's quite understandable that he hasn't been turned down Howell, you clot.
  2. Jim. I think you'd better explain the difference between a) Laursen and Mellberg/Ridgewell/Cahill And hey! What about Delaney? Couldn't he be a sort of Laursen? Huh. Guess in a way he already is.
  3. Joaquín was on the bench for Valencia yesterday. I'm shagging his cleaning-lady's mother at the moment. Reckons he could become available soon. Don't tell Denis. 8)
  4. My hero too. My favourite Villa player of all time, bar nobody.
  5. Shall I tell you all about the dream I had last night? No? No matter! Are you sitting comfortably? No? No problem! Then anyway, I'll begin. I was in this room and...
  6. Assuming you mean can't... He is a gun player, a big name who will sell heaps of shirts and bring a lot of media attention to the club, he will also potentially attract more big name players. But I would take him just on ability. I had a feeling he was asking a question.
  7. VERY strong. No, he isn't that wonderful in the air is he? If Alieu got us 12 per season in the Premier I'd be extremely surprised. More like about 7! But blimey he can hold on and wait for support like almost nobody.
  8. No Paddy. That's going TOO far (though it wouldn't take me 10 minutes to find a mass of Valencia fans who'd love that little song). He was, ah, what's the word...? Unappreciated? A bit unfair though. He slogged his guts out for the cause even if he didn't tear the nets out too often.
  9. Depends what we want. If we don't mind a player who scores 7 goals a season (Premier defences are a little better than those from La Ligue), then Carew is fine, Excellent target man, and one to go for, definitely. If it's a goalscorer we're after, not Carew.
  10. Just seen that list that uncy_chris has drawn up, and very interesting it is too, imo. The name that caught my eye was that of the man who thought he'd put Beckham out of the 2002 World Cup before it started, the Argentinian Aldo Duscher. A good hard man patrolling in front of the defence, I don't think he'd be all that expensive either in terms of any transfer fee or his wages. I wouldn't say I "like" him, but he might be a good shout for Villa.
  11. Incredible. Quite incredible. This is a marvellous piece of news and really has made my day!
  12. Well unless this "Wendy" happens to be a shillelegh-carrying Irish gentlelady...
  13. Joined Hendrie at Stoke on loan as far as I know.
  14. Have pity on the poor bugger. He's been sat here for a day and a half trying to see who's posted anything and at the same time voted the "wrong" way.
  15. Well, they can prepare a draft but when the window opens it sometimes gets draughty and blows the draft away. PS Now that we're on p 105, any chance we could add an s to "tranfer"?
  16. But keep Peter McParland well away from the pitch once the match begins in case he decides to race on and show our front men how it should be done, that is to say like this: click here and see
  17. I agree. And Quaresma hardly set Barça alight when he was there. On the contrary he was considered a king-sized flop.
  18. One of my best mates is a cocky Arsenal fan, so what I say is long live Man Utd and Chelsea for the time being.
