  1. I think it will be Jol, but I'd like Lambert.
  2. The General can promise all he likes, sure he's not even around when the shit hits the fan, i wouldn't say it's his fault tbh, I'd say it's coming down the line to him.. General's absence is down to the fact he has a new job in the US.Then his tread should be closed. What's the point in leaving comments??.

  4. Hi General, with Ashley Young more than likely heading out the door this summer, is it going to be a case that we keep selling our best players year on year. I honestly thought when Randy walked in the door that he was going to show alot more ambition to keep a winning team together and try and build something good here. TBH, i'm getting to the stage where i'd rather be back in the days of Ellis as atleast you didn't face losing your best players every summer the way we do now. It nearly seems like we sign the likes of these young talents so we can sell them on for profit, and not for the good of the footballing side of things.
  5. I hope he stays more than Ash tbh, i think the loss of Downing would be greater as we have a good replacement for Ash with Albrighton.
  6. And seriously shit, old and washed up.
  7. Errrr YOUNG fran, we very nearly did win something though if you recall. And we spent a lot of the season in the upper echloens of the table. Did we win anything though??. The team on the day the had quality from outside England won as far as i remember.
  8. IMO we played a lot of shite hoof football, smash it up to Carew or Heskey, we would have never won much with an English only attitude.
  9. And these teams are better than AstonVilla.
  10. You are messing right??. Liverpool are still a massive club, and we could only ever wish to have the same size fanbase, and be able to attract the players they can and will. They are dept free now and there club can still pull in over 100mmin profits. Don't forget they got right of the yanks they had. I'll always agree there fans are a bunch of words removed, and I'd love the club to go under, but there is a reason why it never went under. sorry, no they are living off past glories which they will never repeat, they are no better than us, everton etc. They were a massive club in the 70s and 80s but have done precious little since then, their current squad, on the whole, is poor i think You're off your head, go back and look at what they have won since the 80s, you'll find they have won more than us and Everton nailed together, they have won everything but the league. When it comes to us and Liverpool players would pick them way before us because they are better known and a bigger club that can spend more.

  12. If anybody thinks Houlliers love in with Liverpool was bad, the FSW would be 10 times worse.
  13. Tbf, he didn't really get them to the champs league either. They missed out on it at the first attempt.
  14. Well I would further caveat that and say won something recently then as Houllier has won trophies in the past and has proved that the past means very little? Lots of managers before have won things then went on to do **** all at other clubs. Houllier has been one of these managers here, he's to unhealthy and old for it now anyway.
  15. Downing and Young leaving wouldn't surprise me at all, like when Milner left it was because of this clubs lack of ambition and tr fact that we won't be competing for much. If downing and Ash want to win things they'll have to move.
  16. Surely this means that they wouldn't want their targets to have left their club the way MON left Villa i.e in the shit five days prior to the season starting. I'd like to think that the gloves would be off this time around. Maybe if he made all the millions himself he have a ruthless streak in him, if he had proper ambition he'd want the best and wouldn't give a **** what way he got it. Instead he got this unhealthy washed up old man.
  17. That is not true, complete myth. Evidence ? The general said after MON left - that they wanted someone loyal - as such anyone who had to be 'prized' from another club wasn't the type of guy they were after. All In the generals thread last August\september They need to realise that this approach may get them nowhere. Once the season is over, if they haven't sone so already, they should approach a number of clubs to ask permission to talk to their Managers. I'd expect at least Everton, Norwich City and Fulham to receive calls. Villa's loyalty is all well and good but Houllier will take us down and needs to be ditched. I don't actually think it is an approach. More like an excuse so Randy doesn't have to get involved in any nasty wrangling. Just because we employed an out of work manager doesn't mean we didn't even consider or even contact managers who were already in a job. The fact is, no-one knows, you included, so don't talk like you know how Randy goes about his business. The fact is, he is a multi-millionaire, and we are not. Did Randy make all them millions??. If you look back in the Generals thread he said that they wouldn't be going after managers that would jump ship on there current club.
  18. Why wouldn't he? Villa and Everton are similar in size, but they're skint with old crumbling stadium with not even as much as a hint of any new investment. Perhaps after all these years he feels like a new challenge? We're Aston Villa, not Crewe Alexandra you know. We need to be ambitious. we are aston villa your right mate,we have a few quid & a great stadium,a few good players.. however..we struggle to sell out (fact),their alot more wrong that wright at villa at this present time,if i was moyes i would stick around at a skint club untill sir alex leaves As I said earlier in this thread, I have it on good authority Moyes will not be leaving Everton for us this summer. I also explained my own personal views on why not as well. And we're hardly a fountain of opportunity right now are we? Why not? Some decent players and an ambitious chairman with money to spend? One bad season doesn't make for the end of the world you know. how do you know there is money to spend, and if our owner was that ambitious why have we sold our best players year on year, and it looks like the same will be happening this year. I wouldn't say its the end of the world, but i'd say its the end of us as a top 6 side for many years to come..
  19. This for me, the book stops with Randy.
  20. General, i'd like to ask you why would anybody buy new a season tickets with the tripe that the management team is serving up to them. Yous guys came to AstonVilla with all guns blazing and imo right now all you's have managed to do is turn us into a laughing stock with your poor manager appointment and poor coaching staff, i wasn't a fan of MON myself, but some of the blame yous shift on him is bloody laughable. i'm getting to the stage where i'm looking forword to you's and Houllier getting the hell out of this great club.. i hope Randy is happy with his mess.
  21. Pure and utter shite we where, we are a crap team to watch. Our shite style of play is shameful. Downing for menwas the motm. Get this season over, get rid of the shit players and shit management.
