Very poor tonight, I thought.
Gave the ball away and couldn't defend the counter for our first.
Free header from a corner not 8 yards out - header not on goal
Those 2 moments summed him up. I thought he was sloppy, overly physical when not needed and a step behind the pace.

There's the Villa I grew to know and love!
After having complete control of the game after 25 minutes, we simply switched off. Zero effort, zero composure on the ball, no 2nd ball, no period of sustained possession/control.
Iroegbunam MOTM - nobody else deserves it.

We're seeing the control in midfield we get with Kamara in the team completely missing.
Still feel like they're going to get a bad decision or ten go their way in the 2nd half to get them back in the game.
We've looked good in spells, but missing Pau and Kamara
There was already a shocker for that Garnacho free kick.
Not only was there little contact, the ref let them take 2 touches, then us take 2 touches and only when we were through on the break called it back for the free-kick.
That's not advantage - that's bollox.

Cant seem to get a foot on it in midfield since the 2nd. I've seen McGinn and Luiz both turn over easy ball under moderate pressure.
Shame. After the 2nd we should be turning the screw, but we seem to have slipped back into 1st gear - we almost made them look good for 25 minutes.

Still got a great shot and killer pass in him....
... but you can't play him without Nakamba doing his dirty work.

Bowen, Pacqueta, Kudus, Ward-Prowse, Benrahma...they are a few players and one managerial appointment away from being really good.
Hmm.. I simply don't rate Pacqueta.
Bowen and Kudus, however, are excellent.

Didn’t mings do something similar to salah a couple of years ago? Slid in and go the ball and then because of salah’s movement and mings’ momentum clipped the man after?
Right culprit, wrong rat.
It was Saka at Arsenal. Who'd have thought?

Everton robbed too.
Goal chalked off for the softest "foul" you'll ever see vs Spurs (defender loses the ball, goes to ground clutching leg that was never touched).

Should be starting over J Ramsey
Horses for courses.
Ramsey is great running at defences with space. Not so good in a low block.....
... so I agree. Should have started tonight

"From what point does the VAR check incidents leading to a penalty or goal?
The VAR will only check the attacking possession phase that led to the penalty or goal.
The starting point will be limited to the immediate phase. The VAR may not go back to when the attacking team gained possession.
The VAR will consider the ability of the opposing defence to reset, and the momentum of the attack. "

Yeah, this is the bit that stings.
The keeper was up, on his line an unhindered by the time we regained possession. We then scored.
Goal should have stood.

Game was screaming out for Buendia to help us against a low block.
Some interesting decisions and while I think Ramsay has fouled the keeper - how far back do you go? You could argue he was fouled first, which means a penalty.
Clearly change of phase, and the keeper was up and in position when we scored.
All that said - we needed to create more and we didn't. Good goal from Zaniolo to keep us undefeated at home

I didn't think there was a team that could match ManUre for being utterly and totally dislikeable...
... but with Mee and Maupay, Brentford are getting close.

Stonewall? Move infront of opposition player, stop and fall over, yeah I have seen them given, but no way should they be.
Agreed. It's not just that he stopped and propped - he changed his line to make sure there was contact. You can't give that.

Could have used his creativity against a Brentford low-block. Thankfully, Ben Mee made it easier for us.
..... cue Delphino to enter the tread

I'm not seeing the argument here.
Are we in a title race? Yes. We are 2 points from the top.
Will we win it? Unllikely. We have a lot of footballl to play and a small-ish squad.
Can we address that? Maybe. Jan window soon - but that doesn't mean quality is available.
Is it exciting? Is it what!

Saka drives me insane, such a child when things aren't going his way, I also mentioned it in the match thread, screams like he's had a leg breaker then gets up and runs off normal, well as normal as he can with that bow legged walk he does.
That one where Luiz got a yellow: the commentators on my stream talked about a clear foul and "lets watch the replay"
There was no contact, he simply went down because he lost the ball, Gillet bought it and booked Luiz for "kicking the ball away".
Silence from both the commentators during the replay. He's a protected species on and off the pitch.

A gift from Diego Carlos meant we had to settle for a draw against Bournemouth.
Spurs somehow managed to gift 2 to West Ham.
Spurs squad is full of coach killers

Good morning villatalk what a beautiful morning
I had a crazy dream last night that we absolutely battered citeh To restrict them to only 3 shots and completely out played them. Then we were sitting 3rd in the league.
You were definitely dreaming....
... it was only 2 shots

Decision making.
That's what will make or break Zaniolo. Case in point: He's released down the right in the first half vs Bournemouth, cuts inside on the edge of the area looking to make room for himself for a shot. The defenders push him wide so McGinn cuts inside him.
The right choice? A cheeky backheel to McGinn back across the box. Unexpected and the defenders are following Zaniolo - chance was on.
The decision made? Keep looking for space even though you've dribbled the length of the box... and keep dribbling till you are double teamed near the sideline and turn it over.
Compare that to Bailey - who in the earlier part of his time with us would also run into dead ends - and the amount of times he realised it wasn't on vs Bournemouth, and simply jinked, turned and layed it off waiting for a better opportunity. I don't remember seeing him dispossessed.
If Bailey can be taught to do that (and I thought he was excellent on the weekend) then there is hope still for Zaniolo.

Refereeing has been massively inconsistent.
There was a 20 minute period since the Semenyo foul where he refused to give anything. Stark contrast to the opening 20 minutes where he handed them 2 yellow cards.
You can feel the players frustration

He's not a right back.
He's been good all year but his best performances are at CB. I can't count the number of balls "down the line" he hit straight out.
