The yellow was probably for dissent. Ref made a mistake, nothing to see here.
Yep. Agreed.
Not the best example as I don't want corner kicks referred - but it was a clear and obvious mistake. It's those kind of obvious errors on things like yellow vs red card offenses, goals or penalties that I want to see VAR get involved.

Nah **** that, clear and obvious is nonsense
The whole point of VAR should be the man in the middle has ultimate authority, the man in the booth bells down and says "hold up John you might want to take another look at that" the man in the middle still makes the decision, upon belling down if John says no I'm alright cheers pal I saw it perfectly fine then so be it
Yep - I agree. The ref in the middle makes the decisions.
My issue is that VAR make the ref stop and second guess every decision, so effectively reffing by proxy. Nobody wants that.
What we do want is VAR to say "Oooooh Jeff, that was a stinker. Have a look again on the screen" - to me, that is the definition of "clear and obvious".
Edit: Case in point - Ezri Konsa's yellow card for what should have been an obvious corner kick

This is EXACTLY what VAR should be doing.
Ummmm no. Clear and obvious errors. Not "hey, you might change your mind if you saw this in super slow motion"

Still under the radar. This from a "fox sports" piece down here (dont bother reading it, but if you must: https://www.foxsports.com.au/football/premier-league/Premier League-premier-league-202323-arsenal-lose-to-fulham-spurs-beat-bournemouth-results-highlights-reaction/news-story/7fbdef1d7a548c32c3a64e719a7c3a9d)
QuoteThe Gunners’ high hopes of a first league title in 20 years have been rocked by two damaging defeats in four days.
Mikel Arteta was looking for a response after losing 2-0 at home to West Ham on Thursday but was left angered by what he described as his side’s “worst performance of the season”.
Arsenal remain in fourth, two points behind leaders Liverpool and level on 40 points with Manchester City, but having played a game more than both their title rivals.
Both of them, eh? And in 4th place, you say? Ok, sure.

Well they've spent a fortune and still only finished in the top 4 once in 5 seasons since he left
Given their last 2 results, they are not even the strongest team in London atm.

I'm not following the argument here.
The ref gave the penalty. VAR reviewed and saw clear contact, so the penalty stood. There is no reason to make the ref look at the replay and second guess himself.
Now if you argue that the penalty was soft - it was. If you argue that we'd be filthy if it happened at the other end - we would. But it's very hard to argue that it was not a penalty by the current rules of the game.
Remember Pogba running next to Luiz and kicking his own leg for a penalty? Or Ratboy backing into Konsa and stepping on his foot for a penalty? In the face of those, this one was cast-iron, locked in, clear and obvious.

McGinn for mine
... but Bailey gets the "where the hell did that come from?" award.

People calling for Zaniolo instead of Ramsey. Massive LOL. Ramsey at his worst is on par with Zaniolo at his best.
Some of you seem to have forgotten about arguably the worst half of football at Bournemouth I’ve seen a professional player put in.
Ask yourself, why won’t Emery pick him even when we’re down to bare bones and have players starting that are clearly out of form? When you find the answer, you’ll realise that Zaniolo has been piss poor and the manager doesn’t rate/trust him one bit.
Ramsey* > Zaniolo.
*the one at Burnley.
Nah. First predicate is way off.
Zaniolo hasn't been great, but been good in his last few games, including scoring in his last appearance.
Ramsey may be getting up to speed, but he's not there yet.
You pick players on form, not reputation - otherwise Bailey would be warming the bench.

Zoolander performance from Lenglet - couldn't look left!
-
Well... that was closer than I hoped.
3 things I learned:
- Trafford is a great keeper. Possible Olsen replacement?
- The old Villa doesn't get 3 points here
- Football is not a contact sport anymore

... why do I have a bad feeling about this one?
-
The ManUre game was a perfect game for Ramsey.
They didn't play a low block meaning he had space to run into and terrify their defence....
... but he did bugger all. Unfortunate. Zaniolo starts over him, for mine.
-
He's not a right back.
He's been good all year but his best performances are at CB. I can't count the number of balls "down the line" he hit straight out.
-
Very poor tonight, I thought.
Gave the ball away and couldn't defend the counter for our first.
Free header from a corner not 8 yards out - header not on goal
Those 2 moments summed him up. I thought he was sloppy, overly physical when not needed and a step behind the pace.

There's the Villa I grew to know and love!
After having complete control of the game after 25 minutes, we simply switched off. Zero effort, zero composure on the ball, no 2nd ball, no period of sustained possession/control.
Iroegbunam MOTM - nobody else deserves it.

We're seeing the control in midfield we get with Kamara in the team completely missing.
Still feel like they're going to get a bad decision or ten go their way in the 2nd half to get them back in the game.
We've looked good in spells, but missing Pau and Kamara
There was already a shocker for that Garnacho free kick.
Not only was there little contact, the ref let them take 2 touches, then us take 2 touches and only when we were through on the break called it back for the free-kick.
That's not advantage - that's bollox.
-
Cant seem to get a foot on it in midfield since the 2nd. I've seen McGinn and Luiz both turn over easy ball under moderate pressure.
Shame. After the 2nd we should be turning the screw, but we seem to have slipped back into 1st gear - we almost made them look good for 25 minutes.

Still got a great shot and killer pass in him....
... but you can't play him without Nakamba doing his dirty work.

Bowen, Pacqueta, Kudus, Ward-Prowse, Benrahma...they are a few players and one managerial appointment away from being really good.
Hmm.. I simply don't rate Pacqueta.
Bowen and Kudus, however, are excellent.

Didn’t mings do something similar to salah a couple of years ago? Slid in and go the ball and then because of salah’s movement and mings’ momentum clipped the man after?
Right culprit, wrong rat.
It was Saka at Arsenal. Who'd have thought?

Everton robbed too.
Goal chalked off for the softest "foul" you'll ever see vs Spurs (defender loses the ball, goes to ground clutching leg that was never touched).

Should be starting over J Ramsey
Horses for courses.
Ramsey is great running at defences with space. Not so good in a low block.....
... so I agree. Should have started tonight
