I wouldnt mind Ranieri to be honest, always rated him. The "Tinkerman"

I think Sven would be a good manager, with a good profile, I don't really get the "holier than thou" posse. "He likes to get his leg over etc." What so now one of our credentials for being Villa manager is being a Yunic, having no sex drive or a cock? WTF!
-
I think that McLeish should be considered, he is better than most people mentioned for the job lately and is highly thought of by Ferguson.
Just saw that he had a row with his chairman over a new deal for himself, could he not have done this BEFORE the transfer window closed, and he signed Hleb, so he could have signed for us. (Even though it gives me the shivers just to think where he's been)

Very good read, and I have to say I agree with absolutely everything Graham Taylor said!
I have totally the opposite view. Sounds like he is pitching himself for a DoF job and is embarassing. I really now hope KM gets the job and makes everyone eat their words.
I see it as a winner, , The players get to keep their beloved KMAC, KMAC gets to continue his beloved "coaching", either being Head Coach or Assistant manager. He gets to help the new Incumbent etc with the runnings of the club, and hopefully the new incumbent will be that name who can both attract the larger players, have sound financial dealings, expand the scouting network etc etc.

Come on guys, stop panicking, this reminds me of us making signings we really thought were going to be shit, just because they didn't have fancy foreign names, or didn't come from "Big" clubs, like Harewood, Heskey etc.

This whole "holier than thou" thing the general has said about "I would not want a manager who would just up and leave his club" is frankly.....well.....bollox. How do we get players then? Since we value loyalty so much shouldnt we only be looking for free transfers and youth players? I understand the sentiment but this is a dog eat dog trade, and the nice guys usually end up mid-table or last!
-
Petrov(Or erm...no real left wing back up...not good enough for our squad?) is a good player, Cacaeido(Or Heskey?) is still very young and also a good player, look at Man City's first team and I guess it should give you a better idea of why they arent in it, a little birdie has told me it's not because their all GASH. . the others I don't really know about.

Good post mate.

and LUke Young...We don't even have left back cover FFS!I think you'll find we have Beye :winkold:
Careful now, anymore talk like that might see him moaning again
Oh you mean our three naturally right sided RIGHT BACKS?! did you see how Beye got turned in Vienna because he couldnt check on to his left foot?
MON... is that you?

Dear General, would just like to express my dissappointment at us not being able to strengthen our squad, even if it had to be with loans, or stop gaps until even January I feel it was a huge mistake. I fully understand the fact that we have no manager in place and it would be wrong to blow money at this time, but surely the board must have had the expertise, or at the very least contacted consultants who could have had something done, as it stands we don't even have a left back cover, and If we get a couple of injuries, frankly, we are screwed! Teams around us have strengthened relatively significantly and it is quite disheartening to see some of the quality that has gone to competitors as loans or otherwise. I hope these decisions are fully justified and come January I have egg all over my face. UTV!
-
If you think it's been bad for us, look at Spurs. CL, time to now push on surely.....they've signed Gallas and some unknown keeper on loan and an unproven young brazilian called Sandro.
And everyone says is I have to put out the obligatotory, yet they have a larger squad than us in both depth and quality, STOP CLUTCHING AT STRAWS!
We don't even have left back cover FFS!
-
Alot of disillusioned people on here, fact is, if we get a couple of injuries we are royally f*cked! Regardless of my bias, BRUM have done good business today, business which WE should have done at the very least! LOANS of top quality players.
-
One other problem I have with KMAC is that while I love to see our prospects coming through, does anyone else think he may perhaps have a little bit TOO much faith in the reserves given his bias, or experience with them thus far, especially if the news about a loan deal for the Chelsea reserve left back is on the cards.
-
Now that the window is getting closed, and looking at what other teams are doing, namely BRUM, I'm starting to get a little depressed, surely we should have been able to pull of a couple of loans out of our arses at least?! Even with no manager, we must have expertise at the club, or even consultative expertise to make recommendations based on the depth of our squad?
#AVFC Loan bid for Chelsea left back Patrick van Aanholt. Awaiting responseFrom twitter.

So latest speculation I've seen is that someone made a comment that there was a ginger on his way? Everyone got excited thinking it was Moyes when really it it........drumrolll.....
STEVE STAUNTON?
As well as KMAC because they worked with the Irish team together, would this tie in with the got 3 targets, a defender, midfielder and a striker, thing? One of which who has played under him already?

Any excuse...

Dunne and Collins, and if necessary, to tactics and formation, Dunne and Cuellar with Collins pushed up a bit protecting the back four and redistributing.
-
What about this season?theyve just been very unlucky in recent years with injuries etc.You realise we're only 3 games into it right? We were outplayed the last time even though we won!
-
They seem to think Villa would be a sideways step at best for Moyes.
Because it would be.
It wouldn't be a sideways step at best. You could consider it a sideways step, but not 'at best', IMO. With a decent manager, we're a better side than Everton and we've got a better chairman.
the only part I can fully agree with is the "better chairman" part at this point in time. Everton are a very good side with a range of talent from all over the place, theyve just been very unlucky in recent years with injuries etc.

I think we're underestimating how strong Villatalk has become as a source of both fact and bollox for the media. I think alot of new media info is actually coming from us. (Mostly because they are lazy bastards)
-
scharner gone to the baggies. he'd have been a decent signing. versatile player, and solid
I'd have taken him in Reo-Cokers place. If Hleb goes to Blues on loan i'll be kinda pissed!
-
There squad is partially better than ours IMO, I see absolutely no reason why he would leave them to join us. Its bollocks FFS!

Lol, that was "The Hand shake"?!
:bonk:
Confirmed: Houllier is the new Villa manager

Really not my first, or even second choice, but he must have impressed the board, and it seems he has alot of contact and knows the European, especially french leage inside out. I'll support him though, I was hoping we would be getting a younger, more high profile manager, but think about it, typical Villa , not astounding, not terrible, right in the upper middle region. :winkold:
