  1. heres my take on Houllier - all IMO of course:

Personally I think hes been royally **** over by the chairman, MON & The players.

It is plainly obvious to me that the chairman has proper **** up, letting the wage bill spiral out of control and allowing MON to spend over the top on average, aging players that we're struggling to move on and appointing him after the transfer window was shut. Now we are in this position Houllier is going to have his hands tied in the transfer market.......... that isnt GH's fault, thats the Chairmans.

Also, Houllier IMO, was appointed by the club to change the culture and the methods longterm, also to look at our youth players, for his extensive knowledge & contacts of the game, and also his proven track record. Now this takes time, and by all accounts, the culture that Houllier is trying to put in place is a world apart from MON's methods. Under MON I dont think the team was managed, just more motivated - the inside track tells us that it was a bit of a holiday camp under MON with players coming & going as they pleased - whereas under GH he is very strict and professional in these methods and expects his players to buy into it - in a nutshell THEYRE NOT and wont play for him............... and dont think a lot of them ever will.

I feel Houllier is the man to take us forward, but he needs the time & backing to bring in his own players who will enter into his methods and play for him - if that time & backing isnt the case, we just need to get rid as hes not the man we need and bring in a motivator / pragmatist along the lines of Allardyce to kick our way to safety..........

It is my belief the chairman wants to change the culture behind the scenes on the playing staff as hes had his fingers well & truly burnt financially with the previous regime, and I think Houllier is that man to do it - but Lerner is gonna need balls of steel to hold on till the results turn, and they will turn under Houllier - but hes gonna need a few of his "own men" on the field leading from the front to kickstart it........

MON was overrated, his brand of football only takes you so far for so long and every club he departs, he departs when it cant go any further cos hes spent all the money or hes got too many old players on huge contracts............... this is what is hindering Houllier

I aggree, results have been a shambles, performances up & down, and Houllier has made mistakes in selections for some games - but lets be realistic - hes had most of our senior pro's injured for longspells - a few who wouldnt even put a shirt on for him........ this will take time to sort..........

    But ive got faith

Good post to be honest... I just don't have the patience to have written it. As well as being absolutely distraught about yesterday as well as our plight. :winkold:

  2. Refrained from posting in this until I cooled down. We lost to an absolutely magnificent goal to be honest. Aside from being shit in the interim, we are obviously a team who have no confidence right now, not used to being in this position, it's an absolute shambles to be honest. At this point i'd even bring all the old players back..even Curtis Davies etc. I could never see this happening with Ollie or Laursen etc here.... it's pathetic. We are Aston Villa FFS! Whilst not the top team we are, and have been undoubtedly one of the top teams in this league for as far as I can remember. Houllier really let me down tonight, but in one sense I also really do feel sorry for the man, he is under immense pressure and they were probably even so nervous they were scared to change anything. However....Gabby playing on left wing of all places?lol. Albrighton and Bannan in the 88th minute? WTF? He reverted to some MON type tactics, just only worse. I really hate to really call for his head....if we were mid-table I probably wouldn't...but if I see this team get relegated it will hurt until no end. I'm at a crossroads...I don't know if I should have patience or back him at all anymore....for some reason it just seems like he doesn't fit in with this club. Not that he's a bad man, or a bad manager...just doesn't seem to be the right man for AVFC. I'm **** distraught, embarassed, dissappointed. SHIT!

However, I love the way Ashley always shows fight and desire, for all his bad qualities I can commend him on that.

Who is going to want to joing this sinking ship right now?! I'm not saying I miss MON, but maybe someone who is a mix of MON and Houllier is best. MARTIN JOL just may be the answer I feel.

Let's see what happens tommorow though, calm down though folks.

    UTV!

Most of us real Villa fans have been through this before, and whilst not ideal.... I also just don't know if sacking the manager is the right thing to so right now.

  3. Our manager is taking a bashing from all sides at the minute. Alot of the senior players obviously dont like him, and performances on the pitch have not endeared him to us fans.

    But is that his fault??

I think it isnt. The players (or a majority of them) are refusing to play for him, which in turn is making alot of the fans turn on him. Does he deserve this??

    In a word...NO!!

He came here with the best intentions to do well for this club. He doesnt deserve his otherwise impressive recored in management to be ruined because of a group of divas who care more about their 50k per week wage packet than the club. If the players arent gonna do it for the manager they should at least do it for us fans. After all, it is us paying their wages.

We need to get behind our manager at this crucial time. Let him bring his own players in and get rid of the players who will inevitably take this club down.

    UTV

I'm with you, it's doing no one any good for us to just be bashing the man at this time. Making a manager who has been through what he has is going to do more harm than good. Bring the good vibes back if you are a true Villa fan. (Having said that though...I've always liked JG)

  4. Against a club who have alot more quality than us. As a pose to us who have been decimated with injuries, playing mostly youth players, or players that have just come back from injury and a rusty. Get a **** grip! I'm as hurt as anyone that we lost again, but i'm not in throw the toys out of the pram mode. Wait till January! We're playing Man City and Chelsea next...If we lose I'll be **** hurt, and scared of relegation...but I simply will not blame the manager or the board at this point...until we are on a level playing field.

Anyway...I never had any faith in Lichaj but he had a stormer tonight, gets better each game... Albrighton is what we expect...very good. Gabby tries but has no **** service. Our midfield is too slow and we need more creativity...we need to attack more like we did at the end.

  5. People who were saying how bad we were? What game were you watching? Granted...Dunne was shit....again...why isn't Cuellar playing FFS?! We battered them for the majority of that game, we just couldnt score! This was an ideal game for a battering ram to come on in. Friggin dissappointed, by the scenes you could see this was SHA's cup final!

  6. I was baffled at the formation, and does GH not rate Cuellar at all. However, as other have said we have key injuries, and alot of shite players. there's not much more GH can do. I still think it will all come good, can't wait for Jan to come. We're in desperate need of a REVAMP!
