  1. Queens Park Rangers are set to sign Rio Ferdinand, while they have also agreed a fee for his fellow central defender Steven Caulker.

Ferdinand, 35, is expected to join on a free transfer after his release from Manchester United.

A bid for Cardiff City captain Caulker, 22, has been accepted but Rangers will face opposition from other clubs.

Harry Redknapp's side were promoted to the Premier League last season and the manager is keen to reshape his squad.

Cardiff paid around £9m for him so I am guessing he has a release clause around there.

That would be around £20m in transfer fees, and another signing on fee to join a mediocre club. He is rubbish and all.

  2. Ideally you would want to bring him on when we are winning games, but unfortunately we never win games and when we do and the game seems won Lambert isn't a fan of putting people in for runouts. Like O'Neill in that respect.

Hopefully will give him a chance in the league cups and we can get a run going...

  3.

Ipswich Town defender Aaron Cresswell will complete a move to West Ham by the end of the week.

The 24-year-old was at the Premier League side for a medical on Thursday ahead of a move for a fee exceeding £2m, BBC Radio Suffolk reports.

West Brom and Fulham had also shown an interest in the left-back.

Cresswell, who played 42 Championship games last season, could face his former side as early as 16 July, when Ipswich host the Hammers in a friendly.

He has become a mainstay of the Ipswich side since joining from Tranmere in July 2011, failing to start just eight games and being an ever-present in the 2012-13 campaign.

Tranmere will be due 20% of the fee as part of a sell-on clause.

The lad we seemed to be linked with for 2 or so years.

Hopefully he doesn't turn into another Clyne :(

Is this where we are at now, "he looked good for so and so a few years ago"

Well, yes.  Have you not been paying attention for the last few seasons?

It is not though. We have took a punt on one of the most technically gifted players of his generation which is fair enough IMO and signed Holt as our other striker snapped his leg.

  5. He will be 33 in a few months time and he wasn't that good in his prime. His game is based around athletic capabilities, not his great ability with the ball. His legs can't have long left in them.

Is this where we are at now, "he looked good for so and so a few years ago"

Let's sign Morton Gamst Pedersen and Yakubu whilst we are at it.

As for the World Cup thing, DeMarcus Beasley looked decent and he couldn't hack it at Rangers.

  6. Jermaine Jones is looking for a new club. He is 33 but we can probably offer him 2 years and he would fix our defensive midfield issues. Plus he brings some experience and he is also free.

He is not very good though is he?

    Infact, he is quite poor.

  7. I think Newcastle aswell...barely signed anyone in the last year and sure Ashley would sell if he had a decent offer.

Why would he sell,  he has a club that he puts no money into, his sports direct logo plastered everywhere every game, tons of free adverting, buys cheap players, sell them for profits, pays low wages relatively speaking, 50k+ gates every other week, raking in tons in PL money.

That guy is laughing his arse off all the way to the bank,

  8.

Barca have offered Liverpool £72m up front for Suarez (apparently)

Liverpool will probably want 80m... Can't see how that team will work... Messi neymar Suarez all like to be main man.. Barca should spend on the defence and midfield (now xavi and cesc have gone)

They bought Rakitic don't forget. But yeah, they still need a defender(s)

Who needs defenders when you have a front 3 like that. Keegan would agree with me.

  9. Chris Herd represents our failed belief that our supposed great youth system would promote from within to create a decent premiership side. Herd, Bannan, Lichaji, Fonse, Baker,Albrighton- none have been good enough really.  We are producing players who can have careers, but not the sort of careers we would like to see in a Villa shirt unless we want football league to watch.

It is a hell of a lot more than other youth teams have produced in that time tbf.

  10.

Ideally, I want Gabby far away from the first team. He's an impact player at best. 5 great games a season is not enough to justify his current undropable status.

its about time someone noticed it.

What's the alternative? 5 great games = 6-15 points. Difference between saying up or going down.

Get someone in for a third of his wages that could do that.

Players who can do it once every other month are 10 a penny.

  11. Reckon it will be £55mil maximum really. He's good, not great and indisputably "**** mental" ergo drop the fee commensurately.

    :)

He is a phenomenal footballer, who would improve any first XI in the world.

  12.

The summer after we nearly got relegated with GT. We signed Sorenson and McCann, two of the most depressing signings from one of the most pathetic relegated teams in history, Sunderland.

It was looking bleak as ****. We finished 6th. :)

We took Phillips from them too

Not that year, from Southampton IIRC.

  14. Bojan Krkic, once upon a time Barcelonas biggest talent wants a loan move to the premiar League. Are we interested? I would personally have him on the right flank!

Damaged goods and I doubt physically and more importantly, mentally strong enough to play in the PL. Just like Dos Santos and Vela off the top of my head.

Not that he would ever come here though.

  15. What position does he play. Are people just judging him on the back of World Cup performances as I have never seen him play.

Either way, he is young, inexperienced and has never played in anything close to a decent league. Maybe as an understudy but we need quality now, not more young hungry, supposed 'prospects'

  16. Newcastle sign Siem de Jong.. on a 6 year deal...

    Edit:

Knew I wasn't imagining things. It was Luuk who was there on loan last season, weird they've gone and signed Siem.

Apparently Sissoko is off to Napoli also.

Has to be better than his brother Luuk tbh

  17. Southampton doing similar to us selling alot of talent all at once. Difference is they will replace them a lot better than we did. Dusan Tadic braught in already.

Also, there players weren't put on ridiculous contracts so profits are maximised. I wonder how much net profit we made on the likes of Yound, Downing and Milner after their "O'Neill wages" over the course of their stay were taken into account.

ARSENAL look set to make an offer for Cork City’s superb young full back Brian Lenihan in the coming weeks.

Arsene Wenger’s chief scout Steve Rowley was at Turner’s Cross on Friday night to see the former College Corinthians full back impress yet again.

And Rowley, who discovered the likes of Gael Clichy, Cesc Fabregas and Alex Song for Arsenal was very impressed with what he saw.

With the transfer window opening today City are bracing themselves for bids for the 20 year-old, but not just from Arsenal.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has kept tabs on Lenihan all season and the soon-to-be appointed Aston Villa assistant manager Roy Keane also left Turner’s Cross raving about Lenihan.

The former Ireland schools international made his U21 debut recently against Qatar in Germany recently and manager Noel King is set to make him a key player in his next Euro qualification campaign.

If he were to leave Lenihan’s former club College Corinthians would also benefit.

not really much of a link but I imagine that one of lazy English media will run with it soon and link him

Ay, I can just imagine Keane skipping out of there telling all and sundry what a player that boy is.

    *not.

  19.

I have a feeling Luna may have been a Culverhouse victim. Kind of ties in with his dip in form. Looked promising at the start.

If by "the start" you mean three games, then yes.

I was going to say 90 minutes to be honest.
