  1.

I say we submit the following cheeky bids, cheeky bids, no harm done, you gotta chance your luck now and again .

Benzema - a cheeky bid of £2.5m and a contract of £10k a week, £50k per goal and £50k appearance fee. Cheektastic.

Vidal - a cheeky bid of £1.8m, and a contract of £20k a week, £50k appearance bonus, £5m after 20 league goals in a season, £5m after winning the league.Cheektacular

Ramos - Cheeky bid of £500k, basic wage of £15k a week, clean sheet bonus £50k a week, team of the season bonus £2m. Cheekorama!

Funny thing is that, allegedly, we weren't too far away from signing Benzema on loan from Real under Houllier.

I remember, the bid wasn't cheeky enough iirc.

  3. I don't think all these swipes about the Isco comment are fair. Yes, he's a player considered to be much, much better than we can attract. But there have been many scenarios where a player seeking game time, or wanting to put himself in a shop window, have joined clubs that are supposedly beneath them. Especially, considering that the Premier League is one of the best shop windows to put yourself in.

Everton with Delafeou and Royston Drenthe when he first went there, West Ham getting Andy Carroll on loan after he cost £30m not long before, Southampton getting that striker from Italy (I can't remember his name) etc etc

Maybe Isco to Villa is more far-fetched than the above players, but that's why they call it a 'cheeky bid'.

...and what the hell is a 'cheeky bid'

Can anoybody explain this commonly used ridiculous phrase?

A bid, that is considered cheeky. It's not exactly a difficult one to work out.

Football is business, there is no such thing as 'a cheeky bid'

Clubs either want to sell him or they don't, Isco either would want to come or he wouldn't.

A bid is a bid, multi million pound deals,  this isn't **** ebay.

...we sound almost as bad as Newcastle.

Isco is one of the most gifted players of his generation, this is a club that has just signed Senderos.

    Work it out.

  4. I don't think it would be viable, but then not many would have thought delafeou would have gone to Everton last season. Real Madrid may not want to sell him as they paid a lot for him last season, yet he is unlikely to get much game time this season. Clubs higher up the echelon than us may only be interested in taking him permanently and so RM may not be interested in that. The prem is a good grounding for players as it strengthens them up. He would be guaranteed a starting place at us which would also aid his development.

As for the FM comments I haven't played that for yrs so has nothing to do with the suggestion

Please don't try and justify the notion that a player like Isco would have any interest what so ever in coming here :)

  5. swansea are nailed on for relegation this season, losing vorm, bony, davies, michu, replaced Michael Laudrup with Garry Monk :crylaugh:

    southampton will struggle too.

Well looks like they are signing SIgurdsson who is a class player.

If Bony does go they will get massive money for him.

  6. With Madrid seemingly getting Rodriguez a cheeky loan bid for Isco should be put in. Yes bigger clubs will probably want to buy him, but Madrid may be happy just to loan him out. Probably pie on the sky but the club may as well ask.

Not really, it would be a complete waste of everyone's time.

    Isco...to Villa?!

    Really?!?!

    Really?!?!?!?!

  7. Mbia is exactly what we need. Free agent now. Played well for Sevilla last year so I expect bigger fish to be after him.

A greedy mercenary who didn't try one bit at QPR, then ****ed off when they were relegated?

    No thanks.

  8. I think the understandable anger towards the so called 'golden generation' and their inability to match expectations has clouded peoples views to be honest. But I don't blame you, it's understandable.

They were all quality players, that is the thing.

Gerrard was a quality player,no doubt.

The second we came up against any decent team in the knockouts we failed, miserably. We never came close to achieving expections. Beckham, Lampard, Gerrard, Rio, Terry, Cole, Neville, Owen. Great players, shame 3 of them for 20 caps too many.

  9. Hang on a minute Rodders, you ignored my Baggio 1994 question. Secondly the USA had a decent team in 2010, got to the knock out stage, you can only beat who is in front of you.

...but we didn't beat them. We never came close, we conceded a goal and Stevie Me goes missing again.

Are you comparing Baggio in 94 to Gerrard in 06?

If so then that is a hell of a stretch my friend. Baggio was sensational the whole tournament, so for me, the penalty miss never tainted his tournament. Gerrard's penalty miss was a in the midst of a long line of England bottling jobs for him.

Euro 2000, World Cup 2010 and world cup 2006.

Scored a great penalty in 2006 against Portugal and was brilliant when Germany dicked all over us in 2010.

Yes lets selectively ignore the goals and assists he got in both those world cups.

Well the assists and goals don't matter if you can't do it when it counts

Only losers would qualify any major tournament he entered as successful, and the notion he performed for us even remotely when it mattered is laughable, Over 100 caps, amazing.

Baggio missed a penalty in the shoot out in 1994. Did he have a bad tournament too? Gerrard scored a good goal and played well against USA and got another assist too.

He played well against the USA?

That is quite a feat tbf.

Ungrateful ****** .Alwayd did his best for the 3 Lions, and had 3 good tournaments. How many good tournaments has Rooney or Lampard had? snm

Name these 3 good tournaments please.

My facourite was Euro 2004 the one where we battered France for 90 minutes and Stevie Me played a blind ball back to James in goal
