  1. 'We could have done better, collectively, as a team' GH comments on Sky Sports just.... No SHIT Sherlock...
  2. Nice of the Birmingham City fans to put our World Cup bid in danger with their idiocy
  3. So far, from what I have read, most people on this forum want a new keeper, a new striker and a new back 4? Yes they were bad tonight, but to me that is 6 new players, all of who need to be of a high quality for us to push on.. Question is, where do we find that quality with little if any cash to spend?
  4. How many times this season have we conceeded a goal between the 80-90th minute? It is unacceptable.. Blues fans are a disgrace by running on to the pitch and straight towards our fans, yes, the Villa fans reacted by throwing seats, but who the **** managed to let a bloozer into the ground with not one, but 5-6 flares. Throwing them into the Villa end that contained women and children is complete cowardous. Performance wise, we worked hard, very hard, but just have no cutting edge once we get near the 18 yard box. Nobody seems to want to take their player on and have a go. To finish, GH just been interviewed by SSN. When asked what he thought about the trouble at the end, his reply was that he didnt see it!! How could he miss it?
  5. I live in South Yardley, 400metres from the Yew Tree pub. I am hoping to take my chances and walk home from the Sty. I will be deep in Blues territory, but for safety reasons, I wont be wearing my Villa colours for this one. Just hope I am not in a police escort back into town, otherwise it will be a nightmare journey home from Digbeth for me.
  6. Would quite fancy Hereford or Lincoln at our place..
  7. Yes because everything is that simple. Forget the whole think before you act, it's irrelevant. :notsure: You don't just take the managerial job because it's Aston Villa ffs. Of course you do!! Aston Villa FC are 'supposed' to be one of the biggest clubs in the world. Despite the obviois financial restraints, it still amazes me that many more managers haven't thrown their hat in the ring to manage such a big club. For me, much as I like KM, he just doesnt come accross as passionate enough. To dither around deciding if it is the 'right move' for him after being at the club for the last 16 years shocks me. He has sat in the shadows so to speak watching, and probably disagreeing with previous managers tactics, transfers and training and MUST have thought, 'I could do better, I would LOVE to have a go at that job'.. Shame he doesnt show it in his interviews..
  8. I am a fan, purely down to his workload and passion.. He lifts the younger players quite often.
  9. I agree, we are all discussing the merits of Petrov and Ireland playing together.. With NRC in now, it may just give us some more balance in the centre and allow Petrov to drift slightly forward and leave NRC as the holding midfielder..
  10. 'Apparently' Mark Lawrenson fancies his chances too! J/K
  11. General, Sir, As a soldier myself, I am sure you can understand my comments and maybe even concur with them. In my Regiment/Corps, my Commanding Officer is my ultimate boss, much the same as the Chairman is of my football club.. My Commanding Officer is a leader, who leads from the front, is the 'voice' of HIS Regiment, who NEVER shys away from the spotlight, whether he is right or wrong in his actions, will ensure the Officers below him have the correct and more than adequate resources and information required to carry out EVERY task. He is the beacon of the Regiment, who eveyone trusts to do the right thing and who everyone from the junior Private to the Senior Officer will jump to and listen to his every word. However, 1. Soldiers will only follow him if the believe in his ability and trust him as a person. 2. He should NEVER lie to his soldiers, they will always find out and he will never regain their trust. 3. His plans will never survive the first contact, the CO will always have a plan B and be able to adapt FAST 4. Experience outweighs rank in the chances of being succesful, LISTEN to what those with more experience and KNOWLEDGE have to say. As Aston Villa fans, we are Randy Lerners soldiers (not the players and the staff), we will follow him to the end of the earth, but ONLY if he can provide us with his voice, thoughts, resources, honesty and his trust...
  12. I am hoping that I didn't hear the report incorrectly, But I am sure KM was chatting away and said words to the effect that a manager would be in place by the end of the International break.. Which funnily enough, is after the transfer window closes too...
  13. So, According to the news report on SSN that I have just watched, Randy Lerner only has 1 target in mind for the Villa job and that is KM..... So WTF has he (Lerner) been doing for the last 14 days?
  14. Although I completely agree with what you say there, don't you think us finishing 12th will set us back a few years? Especially with the 'bigger boys'... Well I said at worst, I think under MacDonald, despite sunday, we'd still finish top half! Also, I don't think it matters too much, look at Spurs, they had a bad year or so and bounced back strongly. Just about getting the right man, as long as we have the same squad and say Jol is given a bit of money to spend, I think we'd be straight back around the top 6 again. Yeah, I can see the logic in that.. It will just be a hard pill to take to see us drop down the league after three 6th place finishes, but if it benefits 'our' club the following season then it makes sense..
  15. Although I completely agree with what you say there, don't you think us finishing 12th will set us back a few years? Especially with the 'bigger boys'...
  16. I would have to cringe everytime I heard Bob Bradley do a pre/post match interview if he was every employed as manager of our club... 'A great game of soccer here today, two great soccer teams, some great interceptions and good stops from the goal tenders. we are on the up and we are in the lead for the Preeeemieeer cup'
  17. General, I have to salute you for coming online so soon after such a miserable day for us Villa fans. The point I would like to make, is that I am slowly begginning to feel sorry for you. You have made yourself available to Villa Talk as the 'voice' of our club and have posted on here many times, answering our questions, queries and trying to reassure us of our progression. The problem you now have, albeit from behind a computer keyboard, is that us fans, especially at such uncertain times and after results like today, are looking for someone to blame. I feel that you have put yourself in the position for us fans to vent their anger at. Because of this, it is up to you to assure us that 'everything is going to be ok', however, lately, I feel that all you are doing is leaving us hanging with your responses. I just want someone connected to Villa to have an open televised forum and give us all the answers that we so desperately seek. There are far too many unanswered questions at 'our' club at the moment. As Villa fans, after so many years of pain, are now expecting BIG things from our club, we have had 4 slow, but progressive years, but once again, EVERYTHING we want to achieve seems to be out of our grasp. I feel that the club is not helping the fans here, we get very little media coverage (outside of Birmingham) and the only time I get any information is via this site. I am a British soldier, and whilst 'away' the only information I get is via the internet (Mainly VT). We are a BIG club, yet we act like small fry. This seasons kits release, the MON debacle, getting a new manager, signing players of the quality required to serve our great club. We just dont sound like a very attractive proposition to anyone at present.
  18. And constantly goes round in a circle..
  19. General, I think the post above highlights exactly what all of us Villa fans are feeling... I feel sorry mostly for the Villa fans that travelled up to the North East and probably had to shell out a small fortune to get to this match. I know if I were one of those travelling fans today, I would be knocking on the door asking for a refund.. People pay for entertainment and I am not saying that everytime we lose we should expect a refund, but after today's utter no-show, those fans should get some sort of re-compense, even if it is from you on here telling us EXACTLY what is going on behind the scenes, rather than beating around the subject without giving us the EXACT truth..
  20. Utter utter shit and the players didnt look like they had a care in the world at the end.. I await KM post match interview with baited breath and the announcement of Bob (Who?) Bradley with even more dismay..
  21. Well that really was **** shit wasn't it? 2 shots all game and one of them is still travelling.. Lacklustre, passionless and utterly embarrassing against a team that would be lucky to stay up this season. The media will be wanking themselves silly after this.. As another one hits the net!! 6 **** nil!! Happy birthday Stephen Ireland and welcome to 'our' world...
  22. Disgraceful from Villa in the first half... Carew put the ball in the stand from the penalty spot, and has been nothing but a lump up front so far.. Friedel may be 39, but is playing like a 70 year old.. Dunne, usually Mr Reliable, can't kick the ball to a team mate, Ash Young, has spent 44 minutes whinging and 1 minute on the floor.. Albrighton, can you please pass the ball? You don't have to beat every player twice when there is a simple pass on.. If Villa get ANYTHING out of this game, I will be mightily suprised.
  23. I really like the post above, and although I am not a season ticket holder (Due to being in the British Army and 'away' a lot), I agree 100% in what you have said above. I really thought that after last year's 6th place finish and 2 seasons of pushing hard, that this coming season would be our 'make or break' season for a real push for a top 4 place.. I feel now that we can not achieve this and we seem to have given up the ghost before even kicking a ball in anger this season.. I hope there are bright times ahead, we have lots of talent waiting in the wings, but, as you have said, they are not ready yet!
  24. Warnock was on SSN or somewhere the other day and he was asked about it. He didn't look too bothered about it as long as we got a good deal. I think this needs sorting for out transfer funds (or lack of) more than anything else. Thanks Hanky, It does make me wonder though that whenever a Villa player is interviewed on SSN, the main question they seem to ask our players is regarding the JM transfer saga. Rather than players players bigging up our pre-season preparations and profiling themselves in front of the interviewer, they are having to constantly deflect the attention away from Milner instead. This must have some effect on them surely?
